Welcome, my fellow readers! So glad to have you along on this warrior journey of mine always. I’m sure you’ll notice down below, but I have done another first! Can you tell? You have to see the pics. Yes, I said PICS. . . I have never used two photos on here as back when I started, you could only use one. It is very fitting today as it marks Flag Day here in the U.S. and remembering Warrior’s birthday on Friday… My husband and I were walking the dog last week at this nearby park with so much to see. They have added more nature trails and then when we went another way, I saw that granite stone. It was perfect for today’s post as Warrior was so extremely patriotic and President Lincoln? Well, he was one of the best out of our beginnings as a nation and what a beautiful quote with “Old Glory” as well. I just had to include Warrior’s logo too of course.
In honor of that great former President of ours and Flag Day with its June patriotism, here are a few other great quotes by honest Abe.
“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.”
“And, in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
Those both are so very reflective of Warrior too as am glad I found them. I think they speak volumes and most are familiar with that second one more. Warrior made his years count, despite others possibly disagreeing on how he spent them but he succeeded with virtue and integrity. One might see it all differently but he truly believed in this country’s founding ways and stood by them in lieu of the changing times. I admire anyone willing to stand up while others criticize because one has the ultimate guts to do so. If those Americans back in Lincoln’s day hadn’t done just that, how would our country be? Certainly not free and democratic, although much has evolved.
So, I proudly display my patriotic decor๏ฟผ as I said last week but we don’t fly a big flag outdoors anymore. There was a pole drilled into the brick outside our front door before we moved here and we used it often. Several years ago during a big windstorm, somehow it got bent and loosened. It was so hard to believe the power of wind could move that out of brick! We never replaced it, but I have my own little flags displayed. My in-laws house always had a big flag pole in their front yard but it got taken down years ago. The new owner I believe has not put one in its place, but I really wouldn’t know. Do any of you honor our country’s red, white, and blue? I’m sure there are those of you in other countries who have similar days to celebrate also.
Moving ahead a few days, June 16 also has other facts maybe some of you know of. Of course again~ it is National Days here, but there’s something pretty much on every date. June 16 is also National fudge day๐ซ! Oh my, yes, please!! And, it’s fresh veggies day. ๐ฅฆWhat a combo that would make as I’ll take both. Some international dates for any outside of the U. S. are waterfall ๐ and World sea turtles day. ๐ข Two other great ones if you ask me. I have many local waterfalls here so will have to remember to spend some time by one on Friday. I just had fudge from our amusement park and veggies we need always. Can’t forget to save those turtles too! My son loved them as a little boy. We always joked how his favorite stuffed one “Timmy” would go to college with him. He also was Andy in the “Toy Story” movies as I balled ๐ญ watching that scene. I thought that’s gonna be him someday. I still have many of his toys and his sister’s in the attic but that’s getting off track…
Have you ever looked at the calendar with all these “days” listed? I actually DO know one of mine on September 19. It’s “talk like a pirate day.” I loved the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies but really? Nah, the other goodie though is butterscotch pudding day. OK, now we’re talking better! My brother would always tease me about the pirate thing. His favorite show was “Seinfeld”. Look up the puffy shirt Jerry reluctantly agrees to wear. “But, I don’t wanna be a pirate!” ! It’s so funny but unless I’m on a ship with Captain Jack Sparrow, no thanks! Not Captain Hook either. There are many other fun dates as I just laugh at them all. How do people decide on this stuff? ๐๐ Try looking up some on your own. How about your birthday? ๏ฟผ
I will take Flag Day, Warrior’s birthday, and a few others to heart on those special days as you patriot Americans or fans of his will do the same. I think I still have some wine to toast him in parts unknown. ๐ทMaybe I’ll turn my candle lantern on if any loyal readers know that story. ๐ฏ๏ธ Let’s see~ fudge, waterfalls, veggies, turtles, and all the good rolled into one heartfelt June 16. Thanks for coming to this earth Warrior๐ฅน as I “fly” my flags in honor of you being so brave to share yourself with the world. ๐๐ชฝ๐ช๐ป
Here’s a funny though I’ll end with today. While working out last week, I asked Alexa to “skip to the next song.” I said out loud ( who knows why?) “I like that song but…” All of a sudden, she starts playing 60’s love songs! Um, WHAT? Maybe my comment of “I like that song” sounded like “play 60’s love songs?!” It was crazy but BOY did I get some good ones. Sonny and Cher, Percy Sledge, Ben E. King, Etta James ( swoon…,๐) Aretha, The Beatles, etc. Oh my goodness… I will have to listen to those again.., Maybe some will get put on my playlist~ one already was. ๐ What a decade! Thanks “Alexa!” ๐ฅฐ
P.S. To any of you that have forgotten, Lincoln was our 16th president. See? Warrior’s birthday is on a 16th. How about that? ๐๐ป๐๐ซถ๐ป๐ฉ
P.P.S. Happy Father’s Day on Sunday to all you Dads of human babies, fur babies, or any other you give that fatherly care to… ๐๐ซต๐ป๐งข๐ Enjoy yourself and those you love… ๐ค
