Face or Heel? šŸ¤”šŸ’™šŸ–¤

Well, hello there, loyal readers! How did we do for the first week of month 9? Today is the 9th too. It is also my cat’s 9th birthday, that’s a lot of 9’s… BTW~~~ September is the 9th month with 9 letters. Only one that matches, just sayin’. A little bit of random number trivia to start off today. That does lead me into another big year of sorts. I was thinking with kids back in school to MY life back when I started high school. Why? I’m not sure but possibly because it was a milestone being 40 years ago in 1986. Yep, you read that right. I was a freshman, not quite 14 and had been watching the WWF a few years by then. No Ultimate Warrior until the following year which will be 40 next November! That was his TV debut, not actually with the company. So, back in ā€˜86 at this time of year~~~ the Dingo Warrior was still a heel. I had to check, I’m not into full stats on him or any of the guys THAT much. Dingo became a face in October of that year. He had ended with his tag team partner Sting earlier in June.

Fans may know (as I forgot) how Dingo started there as a tag team too partnered with Lance Von Erich. He was ā€œoutedā€ later on as not being related to the family even as a ā€œcousinā€ back then. It does help to look up info if my brain goes there, but once in that loop~~~ it’s hard to stop, isn’t it? Who would’ve guessed Warrior would return to WCW (minus a C) years later just like he did to WWE (minus the F) as well. Before becoming the iconic good guy Ultimate Warrior eventually evolved into, his last match as the Dingo heel was part of that tag team with Lance. They lost to the Freebirds in June 1986 at none other than the Superdome in NOLA. I did NOT know that! Maybe at some point I did but like previously stated, some details I don’t memorize.

I find that trivia amazing as most may remember that Warrior as Jim Helwig won ā€œMr. Georgiaā€ for Jr. bodybuilding at NOLA in 1984, two years prior. Fast-forward 28 years (just an eight with that 2) to 2014 and NOLA once again became part of his history of being inducted into the HOF during WMXXX weekend. I knew both of those naturally but not his earlier connection with NOLA back in ā€˜86. That was in June just like arriving to WWF the following June in 1987. He really did have some full circle moments, didn’t he? I wrote about it all too. I still find some of it fascinating as you know I am a numbers and dates girl. It just makes me pause sometimes… I started all this with thinking 1986 was (let’s say) Dingo Warrior’s first full year in pro wrestling so it made me think of what I was doing back then. Of course, earlier in the year was still 8th grade for me~~~ yikes! 😳 40 years is a huge chunk of time and life, absolutely! Possibly some of you readers aren’t even that age yet, oh my. I guess if you are too young~~~ this post isn’t for you but as always, I thank you for reading anyways?!

Did any of you avid fans of UW, W, or even his younger days as part of the Freedom Fighters , and then Blade Runners prefer him as a heel? I’ve seen a few matches of him as that bad guy and we all know which character truly made him a superstar. You are allowed to like the heels, remember? You can enjoy those bad guys or even yesteryear with Warrior’s early life. It was exciting and him up for quite the future in sports entertainment. Without one, another wouldn’t have followed, right?

I know most of us try so hard being a face or good character, which is our life or at least I hope you do. I have mentioned a few ā€œbadā€ type of things I have done but they never made me a heel, that’s for sure. Maybe in a past life but honestly, I just don’t think it’s in my DNA. If I *WAS* a WWE performer, possibly I could be convinced to think outside my comfort zone but the fan just might see through my ā€œevilā€ exterior to the real me inside. I really don’t know. There would have to be some truly great writing and storytelling as yes, I could pull it off! What would my name be?, Another fun one to think about. Which would YOU be and why? They all change so often anymore, it’s so hard to tell these days. Good? Bad? Face? Heel? Today it’s one, next week is another. That’s the nature of the business but it isn’t a constant for me and won’t be again. You can have it all but me, my days are long gone of being that devoted fan of gee~~~ around 11 to 20 years old. I admire you lifers but I’m the old school girl who loves the nostalgia. I know enough like I’ve said and see clips sometimes or look at media but nope, not for me anymore.

I’m gonna take that face or good quality as my win but occasionally we wander over and tag to the other side. It’s only natural and we don’t have a WWE contract saying we can’t. We are supposed to take risks but how costly do they have to be? Warrior WAS good (but made amends) like we all want to do but sometimes our decisions ā€œpaintā€ us as bad. It happens to us all but when in the public eye, we’ll get noticed more. Sure, he said and did things many ~~~ including myself at times disagreed with but that didn’t make him a heel by my standards. Others will use different names here, 😬 but I don’t and won’t. Even after all these years. Nope, I just won’t. I can’t speak for his 40 years ago BUT I can for the several in and out of the ring. Some I followed more than others but it’s just not in me to have a heel type of persona~~~ as this applies to others too. There are many I dislike in life but my guilt takes over and I know too much now on differing levels of a few WHY’s with folks.

So, warriors~~~ what is it for you, face or heel? Maybe it’s both depending on your situation but you all know mine. From age 14 to now, 40 years later I’m still the same and deep down~~~ you probably are too. I can’t tell you how to be or who to root for, but it’s like the angel/ devil complex I wrote about a while back only with wrestling terms. I do know some people who need to have that heel persona but it’s only their professional look and not their real one. I just hope to not say the same thing only as the opposite.

Those heels make us think or act in ways we wouldn’t normally but we do need them to learn how to best be or not to be!!! Life would not be as interesting without them, we can agree. Just allow the real you to bust out of that hold or maybe ditch the face paint so we’ll see the good because it’s there, in character or not.

I won’t have another 40 years on this planet (highly unlikely) so who really knows but still I’ll stick to be that face who I know of myself as true. I did have a Grandma live to be 98 though! Thank you Warrior for all your ā€œrunsā€ in the business. I’m grateful to know another part of him which I know on a deeper plane to always be good or should I say ā€œ FACE!ā€ šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‡ā˜ŗļøļæ¼
