We all have this inside us warriors. At least I hope you do sometimes. Even the most introverted people crave the wild- however that looks to you. It literally may just mean to go outside in nature for a bit. We tend to “sow those oats” during our younger years like perhaps college age stuff, but then it changes. Maybe our idea of wildness shifts from frat parties to dinner out with no kids!
The Ultimate Warrior was that wildness and us fans loved it all. Warrior had that wildness with his fitness too ( that’s putting it mildly…😬) but as a Dad, not all entirely. He was more stable and content with his life which is what he needed as a family man. Can we have both wildness and stability in our lives? Sure, but we do need to apply a balance everyday. In comes yin and yang again. Warrior had mentioned how being the U.W. character fit with a certain time in his life where it was o.k. to be that way. As we age, we adopt a more relaxed approach to life and that’s how it should be.
I’m not saying be “normal” or sit around all day- no way! We can still be wild, just in different ways. Our younger selves might have included doing many wild activities but now we are wiser and better. I must admit how being wild never interested me much BUT we all have that inner child that needs to be free once in a while.
I’m reminded of a quote about being Virgo. ♍️ It states how we may appear calm on the outside but are balls of intensity on the inside with rages of emotions. Boy, is this true for me! Sometimes, I do feel caged and need to run.., Hey, that was last week! Some may even just want to be tamed like Warrior became with his family life. He did use “The Warrior” song briefly when Dingo was his name. Here’s a sample for anyone old enough to remember:
” I don’t want to tame your animal style. You won’t be caged in the call of the wild.”
~~~ Song lyrics courtesy of Scandal, 1984.
I do also believe how most of us want a mix of both. What I mean is we need variety, right? Think about songs or music since I shared a lyric. Many may love rocking out hard to heavy metal but then when with someone special, we crave a love ballad and closeness. I bet you’re like that too, come on- admit it!
This can apply to other stuff in your life of course. My wildness probably isn’t the same as yours but let go of the “rules” for a minute. If you could do something pretty wild and get rid of the consequences, would you? You won’t get hurt, nobody will, you won’t get arrested, you won’t get sick, or anything else. No strings attached warriors- just your wildness. Forget the conscience, others reactions, lack of money, ENOUGH! Can you eliminate it all for a chance to do or be something wild? Maybe some have done things in their adventures or dreams already.
The want for wildness will always be there but just make sure you take some because it is o.k. I never thought I’d go white water rafting or zip lining but those activities weren’t on my radar then. We’ve had many family vacations that I would not have dreamed possible . Were they wild? Not necessarily but to me they are. I’ve mentioned being spontaneous but wildness goes deeper. It’s not just a “heck yeah, why not?” scenario. It’s being crazy and kinda extreme but not in huge doses.
We all have that animal inside us wanting that wildness just like The Ultimate Warrior. No, our lives are not that of a wrestler but our spirit needs to just not take life too seriously all the time. I’m not advocating an explosive lifestyle that will be filled with regrets here. We do need to know maturity but that also doesn’t mean ho-hum boredom either. It’s that balance as am sure you know.
Want that wildness warriors but know your limit. Never settle for “normalcy” but respect the age and stage that you are at. Get out of that cage when you can but then know when it’s time to settle in. 🦁🔥
P.S. I could’ve chosen another promo pic for U.W. where he talks about being wild or a caged animal but I loved the paint with this one above! It’s a Gold Dust promo from a PPV event called “In Your House” the WWE did back then… Am thinking to use a few of those pics soon… 🤔
P.P.S. Here’s a promo line from U.W. about Randy Savage:
“You Macho King have found the madness. I Macho King am the wildness. I am the one that will end your career!”
~~~ This was before their WMVII Career Ending Match.
~~~ He also called himself “the ultimate animal” before a SNME match against Ravishing Rick Rude…
