Fan Letters Anyone? 📝✍🏻

Welcome back readers. Hope you are ultimately well wherever you find yourself today. I had thought of this idea after glancing at Ultimate Warrior in a promo background. This I have seen many times before so it kind of fits here. Has anyone ever noticed the bulletin board behind Ultimate Warrior in his WMVI promo? It looks like fan letters of some sort, and there is a drawing there too. Reminds me of either Hacksaw Jim Duggan or Hercules in the upper left corner. I’ll go with Hacksaw… You can look that up on your own. The pic I chose today is from London in 1992 when Ultimate Warrior was signing autographs around SummerSlam. I wonder how many times famous people sign their names over the years? It must be exhausting, but that is fame for ya.

Have any of you ever written a fan letter to either a WWE(F) Superstar or anyone in the celebrity world? Of course, this would be WAY back when people did that type of thing. I did once~ only once, as it got returned. It was for a sitcom star ( no judging!) but maybe I had the address wrong? Boy, did I get teased. I would never do that to another, nope – no way. I think it’s great and despite media of today, when would I ever say NO to writing? I always wondered who read all the fan mail. That must’ve taken hours or even days at a time. Can you just imagine? The people too who would write into magazines, hoping their letter is published. Ah- the good old days…

Such a different time indeed. We can like or follow people on socials and even send private messages. Who keeps track of all those posts and do they even read them? You know it isn’t a celebrity who does that work. It’s someone they hire like an agent, manager, etc. but there are those ***RARE*** responses from the famous we get excited about. I’ve been there too. I’m sure you all know this but a hand written letter? What’s that anymore? If any of you are lucky enough to have an authentic autograph, I’m sure you treasure it. Some may sell, but I never would. It is amazing the amount of money people spend but that’s the life of a collector. We put so much time and effort into another’s signature and yet we (except a few like me) seldom write ourselves anymore. Yes, I KNOW to have a part of fame is incredible but it seems to be of little interest putting our own stuff on paper. Kids don’t even write in school much anymore as it is all mostly online content.

I’m not telling any of you to write things like I do as I don’t expect you to, but really think about it. Our world has become so digital that we use our fingers for texting more than we used to for actual writing. Don’t get me started on reading books 📚 being forgotten as well! There are many good perks of this techno world like the Internet and so much to communicate with people all over every day. It amazes me and I love it! Sometimes though, I feel we have lost touch in other ways. I know I don’t do everything the way it used to be either ( can you say Google and not looking it up in a book?) but some ideas I just won’t ever part with. I actually still write a brief grocery list and not just notes on my phone like most do. It isn’t good for me to always use my phone anyways. All that extra static interference, remember? It affects me. Most know I hand write these before “speaking” them to you all through the WordPress app. I never used to though, speak that is. I typed them before ever knowing that little microphone button, ugh 😑…

Seriously though, what do YOU write out anymore besides signing legal documents? I know we have to evolve with the changes but I’m glad to see writers still out there despite “fan mail” being different. I started journaling at a yoga retreat several years back and now I have many journals filled with quotes, meditations, and so much more. I loved writing when younger and I’ve done blogs on all that before but never did I think to keep a journal or many.

I was not that diary girl thank goodness as I’d have such anxiety thinking my inner thoughts would be found out. Nowadays, they are stored in a box but could others access? Yes, but I have nothing to hide. It’s not like years ago… Can any of you non-writers write if given prompts? Let’s say you took a workshop or had to for a job maybe I guess people get intimidated for many of the same reasons with other new concepts. You won’t be good enough… It won’t make sense… It sounds silly… and on and on. Just like with anything else you try, you’ll have those questions too. It may not suit you and that’s OK. There are many concepts that don’t suit me either but we need to step outside that comfort zone sometimes.

I have shared on here about letter writing with my cousin and a Grandma years ago. I kept them all. It was so exciting getting something like that in the mail. It’s all priorities just like with other activities we wish to pursue. I know Warrior tried so hard post wrestling to answer letters or email personally without a copy of the same one everyone would get. I cannot imagine the volume over time and without help either, but he did it for a while. Media posts have replaced that (or even emojis) and in some ways it is easier but true fans cherish their handwritten notes from him just like anyone would. I know it would be priceless to me as you’d never forget the extra time and attention put into it personally. How is that not more meaningful than a Facebook or Instagram message? Sure, that’s still cool but no comparison if you ask me. I have printed out emails which mean so much. 🥹😊🩷

Maybe we don’t write fan letters anymore or write much at all but for me, it’s cathartic and I will continue as it is a passion of mine. You can have yours, I have this. I’m still not much of a phone convo gal, but I’ll do other media ways for sure. The phone isn’t glued to me and never will be. It just isn’t my main event. Warrior and I will always love the written word whether we were writing or reading. Fanmail or letters are a bygone era but writing itself shouldn’t be. Let’s remember what it’s like to hold a pen instead of always our phone. .. ✍🏻📱

***P.S. SO~~~ I had this dream which just gets a little note today… Maybe it happened because of my anniversary last week? Well, I was in a store and headed to the checkout area. I was behind this woman who pulls my BOOK out from her cart! No idea what store this was… She was showing it to the clerk and talking about it excitedly (: She had heard about the batteries 🔋 🔋story and couldn’t wait to read it!!! I waited a few moments before indicating how the author was right behind her… She was surprised and I asked to sign it for her. She said no- (whatever) but thanked me and was happy to meet. Then, we just went our separate ways before I woke up…. 🤷🏻‍♀️😴📗I highly recommend reading THAT story in the book or search up “The Mysterious Batteries.” You won’t be disappointed as I will always believe…

I'm a wife, mom of 2 and have always been a huge fan of WWE’s the Ultimate Warrior despite his passing. I created this blog to share my stories relating to him that happened years ago and some are continuing today with his Spirit alive and well! I hope some fans out there relate and enjoy my blog!!! Check out my book “Spirit and Belief” on how Warrior influenced me in spirit. It is filled with humor, family stories, psychic terms, following my intuition, and how everyone has natural abilities we can tap into or get guidance upon.
