The Vacation Magazines 💙💙

This post has a lot of details BUT before getting into all of it, I heard WWE’s “Most Wanted Treasures” on A & E will FINALLY air The Ultimate Warrior episode this Sunday, July 14. Check your local listings to be sure so we will wait and see… 😬🤞🏻

Ok warriors, are you ready? Let’s start this match! As some readers may know, I have mentioned the 80s wrestling podcast guys on here a few times so those WWF magazines you see below are from them. The owner of ” The Wrestling Collector” store in New Jersey is a cohost on the podcast so quite often they have contests on Twitter or X ( if you will.) He will show a magazine, poster, some autographed merch, or anything similar. The first one to type ” CLAIM” gets it for whatever asking price, shipping paid. I had never done this, but decided to give it a try. I know they have to make money but $25 for one magazine seems steep to me. What the heck, I tried it and WON…

The magazine cover showed Ultimate Warrior after winning the IC belt from HTM (Honky Tonk Man.) it was November 1988 and the funny part is *THAT* was the same magazine I wrote about years ago. I was at the library as a senior in high school doing research and happened to come across that WWF issue in the stacks! So, after remembering that story, I played their game. They messaged me for shipping info and asked if this was Kathy from the podcast! Yeah, it was me. Payment was either PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or some others I never use. I mentioned PayPal and they gave me the store’s email. That was it. I have used PayPal in the past but wasn’t sure about their particular procedures, if there are any. Hmmm…

I waited a few days but no response back so I emailed them asking how to proceed with payment and got nothing. Our vacation (you knew that was coming from the title right?) was the next day so I kind of forgot about it. We were pulling out of the driveway on our way and my husband asked me to get the mail. I did and guess what? Yep, something was addressed to me from NJ. I couldn’t place it and hadn’t ordered anything recently. Then, after a bit, it hit me~ the magazine! As it turned out, it (or they) didn’t come with us as my daughter forgot her phone so we had to go back. Luckily, we hadn’t gone too far but perfect for me to put my package inside although I peeked a little. It was then I saw two, not one and neither was the cover they showed for the contest! What was going on? Maybe they do too many of these things as it gets mixed up! 🤪

So, both of them were from 1990 and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I only have one other WWF magazine from 1996 as I am no collector but to have both is ultimate!! More photos to come soon. The guys never have contacted me back at all, so no payment for them! Maybe Warrior himself helped me out on this… 🥰🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a few “funnies” from our trip too. The owners informed us that there was a snake, a 7 foot harmless non-poisonous one they named “Beatrice.” Later on, I saw a friend of hers, only much smaller. I was the only one to see the second one. I got close for some pics of Miss B, but she seemed to disappear after a storm. The owners have moved her, but she kept coming back to this big tree stump. I wonder if she’ll return to new guests? She was no Damien (Jake The Snake” Roberts snake for those wondering) but still. 🐍🐍😮

One of our first nights, my son was watching “SpiderMan 2” with his dad while his sister and I played a game. He decided to watch them all lately and this movie was from 2002. That was the year his dad and I got married, Warrior’s daughter Mattie was born, AND “Macho Man” Randy Savage was in this one. I knew that years ago, but had forgotten. His wrestling character’s name was “Chainsaw McGraw.” That I had to watch in order to know. Ah- Randy, thanks for being on our trip too, but stay away from Beatrice, ha ha! If you know how he got bit by Damien. 🫣

When driving home, we passed a fireworks store. 🎆 No, we didn’t stop then but did a few weeks later in Ohio as we were in Michigan then. The store’s name was SHANGO FIREWORKS… Yes, Kathy would notice that name. Maybe they were voodoo fireworks? If any wrestling readers know who Papa Shango was and his feud with The Ultimate Warrior. I’ll stay away though. 😂🤮Just kidding as I laughed like I usually do. The last tidbit was when my daughter and I went into the rest stop gift shop to get some candy for the way home. I bought us each a candy bar totaling $11.11 🍫That’s a great spiritual number if anyone follows that but I do so different number combos pop up on receipts for me from time to time. I love it, so cool. Thank you universe. WOW… 😉

Here’s another funny as one connects to the trip, the other one when we got back. The owners of our rental were Mark and SHERRY. We had a DANA 10 years ago on our very first rental and now a SHERRY. Warrior’s been gone 10 years so I’ll let you make that connection… Warrior was involved with 2️⃣ Sherrys- one personally and one professionally. That name can be spelled different ways. How about that?

Fast forward to after the vacation when I had to take my daughter for her wisdom teeth consult. We were sent to room 6️⃣ (welcome back number of mine) and later, the finance lady handling the money at the end was named Sherry. Oh my goodness, another laugh to myself warriors.

*** That’s the post this week so I hope I made you all laugh too and don’t forget about the A&E show this Sunday!

P.S. I’ll let you know if any more info comes my way about the magazine (s) as I probably can just go in and make the payment myself but I wasn’t sure? Oh, we left for our trip on 6-15. Our first full day there was 6-16, Father’s Day and Warrior’s birthday. Not planned on purpose, ever. Oh my.

🙏🏻💪🏻

Never Play Small 🫵🏻💪🏻🏋🏻‍♀️

I am sure you’ve heard of that saying above as Warrior would 100% agree. Yes, I know he writes about 1994 there on the side and a memory I have is from 1993 (I think?) but that’s in a bit. I must admit, I used to place small but not so much anymore. Why? Because it doesn’t lead you anywhere except to frustration and disappointment all centered around expectations. It’s kind of like how back in the day, some would never ask for directions if physically lost while driving or something like that. Now, we have Siri but I’m sure you all can relate. I can be quite stubborn but nowadays, I ask for help because it sometimes is necessary. If it pertains to the kids, I’ll ask questions if need be instead of struggling on my own. Nope, not playing small on most topics anymore.

Let’s talk birthdays a moment. Maybe you celebrate yours in a grandiose fashion but maybe you’re more low-key. When younger, it’s all controlled by your parents or maybe older siblings help to plan a party. Once in school, did you tell friends when your birthday was? I did but we all have to let go of any possible outcomes. Just because you tell someone, they may not get you anything except telling you : “Happy Birthday!” 🎂 How about as adults in a workplace? My husband hates the attention which I can understand but we all deserve to be celebrated and not just as kids or on milestones. I’ve had a few fun surprises over the years (and still do 🤭) from others but in a workplace is different. A few coworkers of mine brought a beautiful lunch one year just for me, which was in 1993 that I mentioned earlier. One had asked if I liked chicken salad~~~ very random?! It totally floored me as I had no idea. I have never forgotten that… At another job, we used to do birthday lunches where everyone contributed. It was so fun, but then I never wanted to work the afternoon class!! Was that playing small? Nope, because if you don’t share, nobody ever knows. Some prefer it that way but to me, it gets lonely. We deserve that special attention but can’t expect it..

I have played small when younger like I said but other times it affects us differently. It isn’t just speaking up or sharing but also acting. Always playing small will never increase confidence as Warrior came to know many times in his life. He didn’t even play small alone doing his workouts! If he never walked into that weight room back in high school, Coach Pate never would’ve seen his potential which went from small to BIG… That of course led to so many other opportunities career wise for him and with Vince McMahon~~~ NEVER small either! I’m so grateful he had mentioned those in his HOF speech who motivated him to keep going and to not play it small. He never forgot them but we shouldn’t forget those in our lives too who motivate us for similar reasons. 🥹🔥

We all have those down days or even moments, but then something snaps us back when another picks us up. No, I don’t mean a press slam! Those who truly care will know the right thing to say or do when we think we aren’t making a difference. On my spiritual journey, there’s been several people who saw, and still see my potential and despite some humility always, I don’t play small with unworthiness. OK, I don’t go out there and do book projects anymore but I am still doing what I love~ just in another ways. I’ll have those “Ms. Resistance” times and then I’ll get a message full of compliments that I wasn’t expecting. Sure, I can always go BIGGER in many areas but there are ideas I prefer to stay smaller . Does it mean I shy away all together though? No and it shouldn’t for you either. What are some ideas or projects you might be playing small upon? Maybe you can just amp them up a little if you like. We all deserve our own praise. even if others disagree.

Lately, I’ve had people reach out to me for various reasons that I wasn’t anticipating. I even got asked to go on a retreat with my former book club ladies. I couldn’t attend, but so nice to be included and feel special. They could’ve just invited the current group but thought of the others they begin with. That’s not playing small fellow warriors…. Some friends take pics of my kids with their bands and not because they have to but because we have gotten close and they enjoy doing it. The lengths they go to get the right shot just for us parents is no small feat indeed~~~ at least sometimes. I even get sent some from extra parents which is so sweet. I have returned the favor because I am a proud mom too. 🥰📷🎼

How about those 80s wrestling podcast guys I have referenced? If you’ve heard them, they certainly have included me with their mostly regular male callers. Talk about a BIG deal. Nothing small about that and I can run with the big boys anytime! *****Switching my gear over to the feminine, my cousin doesn’t hold back when sharing spiritual topics with me either that she can’t share with anyone else. I certainly don’t restrict by being small around her as well. We won’t be small when it’s with those we truly care for and vice versa. Sometimes, I might over share but it’s only because I trust the other and feel myself enough to be ME… That includes humorous antics too as very few experience that side of myself. When I’m goofy, I’m not playing small and those select few just know my vibe! 😜You have people like that too, I know you do. I bet they let their guard down and don’t play small with you either.

Just because stuff is the best because we can celebrate friendship without there being a big celebration of sorts. It’s those real ones who ask how you are despite their own chaotic life and don’t mince words. Some of us love BIG but it isn’t because we’re clingy, it’s because we are genuine and the real deals. Playing small just kept us that way and then we’d never evolve into the big hearts we want to give without expectation. I’ve been there~ I know, but this girl doesn’t place small because there’s no winning that match. You can do you, I will do me. Let’s just agree that some things are worth playing big for. You get to choose which ones. Look to Warrior. He knew too… 💙

P.S. Guess what? No P.S. this week! It’s been a long time for that… 😉

What’s your Calling Card?

❤️💛👍🫵🏻. No, I don’t mean your business card or anything like that although it could be. What I mean is your true nature like the essence of who you are warriors. It doesn’t have to be that deep of a question but with me, it tends to go there. I have combined topics into a tag team of sorts today, so I’ll start with the calling part~~~literally.

Wrestling fans of The Golden Era-please try and listen to some episodes of these guys. www.BlogTalkRadio.com/80’sWrestlingThePodcast

*** the latest was all about “voices of the 80s” like commentators, announcers, etc. so I called in again. I shared some funny moments and am about 12 minutes or so in. The guys gave me a name: ” the Ultimate Caller!” Most regular callers have a moniker so this time, I received one. What an honor as they KNOW I’m a fan of Warrior’s . One host even remarked how I seem to know more than some of the other callers. I’m not sure I deserve that compliment but I’ll take it. 😌 I was overwhelmed by his words, and yet NEVER once feel intimidated by that male dominated podcast. I leave my calling card for sure. That is, a lasting female impression which matters.Warrior left his calling card too always. Seriously, fans of the old WWF days- just scroll through some of their topics. I bet you’ll find one (if not many) of interest.

Another moment of humility came recently from a Facebook post on my birthday written by my brother. Oh goodness, I thought I was the writer. Here’s a few tidbits he expressed:

*** ” you reign supreme…, get a little more ZEN…, you give as it is…”

AND he ends with #alwaysbelieve which has been tradition for years now. Never does he make me NOT cry. 🥹 I should own those statements and yet somehow don’t feel entirely worthy of receiving them. We are close but I wasn’t expecting such praise. He left his calling card with those words. It invokes pure emotion, thought, and true concern. I do seek the ZEN… ☮️ See, he knows me.

I also had to use that pic of The Ultimate Maniacs below. Their formation debuted (like I had said) on my 20th all those years ago so Randy as well left his calling card. Most everyone will know his lasting impressions on the business, and they are felt still even now.

Let’s move onto the actual cards part for this 3 count today. OK, I have mentioned Oracle cards in the past but before any of you give that proverbial eye roll 🙄 if not interested, stick with me on it. It DOES connect in a few ways even when I thought at first it didn’t. Someone I follow on social media had a few images of this beautiful card deck with her own readings on them. She is pretty well-known and not a professional in this area, but totally could be. She may be looking for some extra work here soon and would be great at this. Well, I was mesmerized by the artwork and concept. Any “AVATAR” fans out there? The deck totally reminds me of those peoples of ancient civilizations long ago. Some had thought Warrior was of another planet so perhaps I am too, who knows? 🪐🤔 That’s been said before…. The messages are so resonating and I got it as a birthday gift from my husband. I’m excited to dive or (SPLASH!) into it soon as its feminine energy is calling me. One thing I noticed is the first printing date. It was re-printed a few years ago but the original date was April 8, 2020. I did NOT know this until watching a flip-thru on YouTube. Warrior fans will recognize that date (not the year though.) That would not influence my decision but what are the odds? It’s all about the Lumerians of a simpler time. Myth or reality? 🤷🏻‍♀️I don’t know but am drawn to it so another calling card(s) for sure.

What are some calling cards of yours? It is a term one can reference when connecting to loved ones in spirit as well. When I first started this journey, you may remember my Bluejay feather stories which continue today. Lots of other goodies too but that was a main one. Do any of you receive those kinds of messages from your team in spirit? It’s OK if you don’t or aren’t interested. It can be intimidating absolutely but it is a way of communicating if you allow yourself to always believe. Just like those oracle cards, ALL of us are oracles. You don’t have to follow any of that to know this. An oracle is a way to communicate in any way that suits us. My writing is an oracle, speaking is, listening to podcasts are, making YouTube videos are, singing is, dancing is, creating art is, and anything else you can think of to relate with others. All of us make up oracles getting our calling cards out into the world. One can disagree on its meaning but I believe all words can be interpreted in other types of formats.

You might not follow or even do any of the above professionally but we do interact with people daily and however you wish is the Oracle you present. Sure, it’s mostly used as a spiritual term but truly doesn’t have to be in that way at all. It also can mean someone who knows much about a subject and gives good advice. Yes, that fits too and for any of you knowledgeable on many topics, you can be that oracle for another. Use your means or calling card to get your voice out there so it will be remembered. Warrior did. Randy did. The 80s wrestling podcast guys are. I am and so can you. So are the many true people sharing their gifts in such a unique way like my social media lady I know in other ways. ☺️

Be that Oracle with your own calling card even if it’s for a nice birthday tribute to a family member like my big bro or other gifts received. 🎁 Once you know the signs, relate to them, and trust they are right for you, it falls into place. Your passions push you to follow a possible oracle which in turn, gives you a calling card. Then, you’ll have yours to pass along to another who also believes. I love my calling cards which lead me to my own oracle of destination. 🥰🩷🪷

Oh~~~ if the link above isn’t active on here- just search them up however you get your podcasts!

P.S. I use oracle cards as part of my practices but they do ***NOT*** in any way predict. They are part of what I do, but don’t define it. Use at your own discretion. You will know what interests you and what doesn’t.

Expect the Unexpected 🤭😬

Hey warriors! A few little areas to address before jumping off the top rope into today’s topic. First, this date is 8/23/23. I LOVE when numbers line up like that. Last week marked my 333rd post. Oh my goodness, look at those threes! I will take them any day. Another number is 70. That was the Hulkster’s BIG milestone birthday he had a few weeks ago as I forgot to mention it last time. Despite some possible warrior fans having animosity towards him, he is a legend and icon, so should be respected for much. Without his presence in the early days of WWF, us fans never would’ve taken such interest like we did. Sure, there were plenty of others (like The Ultimate Warrior,) but Hulk was the brand and helped propel wrestling into sports entertainment. Was a huge fan of his? No, but I will never take away what he or even others have contributed over time, EVER. Most guys are in their 70s or late 60s now who I followed. What sacrifices they made like I always say to entertain and sustain. I wish him happiness in his new decade.

Last week, we took our son back to college for year two. At least we are better equipped now and possibly won’t have unexpected things our way, but ya never can tell. My daughter starts her senior year of high school in a few days. One football game already done too with a blowout win! How will it be Senior Band night so soon? It seems like two years went by very fast🥹. I do hope there aren’t too many unexpected moments but we need to face them anyways. Let’s bring on the funny times because there’s too much of the negative around.

That pic below was from a segment of “The Brother Love Show.” I LOOOVE this one and glad I got a clear shot. finally of U.W. He turns Brother Love into Sister Love. Talk about an unexpected moment for sure! I remember it so well as often times again, I wonder who’s idea it was? I bet fans weren’t expecting that to happen as well. I love Hot Rod’s commentary with Vince too. So classic and funny to see different “shows” that weren’t too serious. It never gets old to me as I’ve shared some other unexpected times with my daughter and Brother Love antics. Those days will live on in my earlier warrior journey… 💙

Another unexpected moment (at least with my former coworkers of years past) was when I sang to this guy on his birthday. I believe I’ve written this before and it connects here. I had no wig, but sang in my best Marilyn Monroe voice to him all breathy like she did to President Kennedy back in the 60s. I probably shocked about everyone doing that but boy, was it fun! OK, I did wanna prove I could do something out of the ordinary but it got me to build my confidence with a totally new idea. Expect the unexpected once more. Yeah, I was no Marilyn but did it my way! 😳👏🏻

Have you ever done something like that or received something unexpected? I bet you have, and I for sure shared plenty! We do always have those times in our lives on the opposite end when facing a difficult decision or even a health scare. I recently lost a friend of mine to brain cancer. Totally unexpected and so shocking. She was younger than me…😓💔 Looking at her husband and kids was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do emotionally. Yes all that happens too sometimes and we just move forward as only we can. Warrior’s loss was unexpected to fans, but none of us really knows when our time here physically is done. The spiritual journey with him was definitely unexpected in many ways, but my soul knows this path I need to take. How about good stuff? I know of women who were told they’d be unable to have kids and now have several a piece! What about a great job that lined up for you? You can probably think of many more and it can be little things all the time too.

Warrior’s return to WWE was totally unexpected to so many and yet those beautiful days making up that weekend had to happen. Let’s remember the good times and not those unexpected which make us angry, sad, or disappointed. There are way too many of those unfortunate times we shouldn’t always give our attention to so rack your brain for the great stuff to come in. Maybe we’ll win the lottery! The jackpot was HUGE lately and my husband plays often. We need to believe in the good in spite of the negative situations around us. It can be hard to stay positive but we need to check our gear bag for any “foreign objects” that will deter us from getting to that good place in a healthy way. Just because you have done experiences in the past, believe the best is yet to come.

Expecting the unexpected can go both ways warriors but the true test is to turn any unfortunate times into fortunate ones, eventually. Our grit keeps us going so look to the messages Warrior left us for any inspiration you need. You will find answers if you look within yourself, and DO the unexpected. It just might bring up that warrior spirit you were meant to release… ❤️‍🔥

P.S. A few weeks past, I had found 1️⃣0️⃣ blue Jay feathers and a cardinal within a few days! That’s gotta be a record in such a short period of time (: They just make me happy. ☺️I don’t expect them but maybe I should! Manifest the good but release the expectation of HOW…

P.P.S. I called in for the 3rd time ( makes a 3 count!) to “80’s wrestling the podcast.” Their topic was all about the magazines of the day. I shared a funny library story of mine back in high school! If you choose to listen~ I am around the 16:55 mark and I talk for almost 10 min. The hosts are so fun and I love talking to them! ***They go LIVE every Thurs. at 10 A.M. EST here in the U.S. but it is recorded. It is around an hour or so… If you were a fan of the Golden Era of WWF, you will enjoy this podcast! Kinda unexpected again… 😜😂📚

The Stories We Tell… 🤫🙄😬

Oh, my yes. The stories we tell, they tell, she tells, he tells, or anybody else tells. I’m bringing wrestling back into this arena for a topic today. First off though, who remembers (yes, you have to be older here!) playing the game of “telephone” as a kid? One person would whisper a saying or phrase in another’s ear, and then it gets passed through the group until the last one says it out loud. If you get it right, super! Most times, it is all mixed up and misunderstood. Then, we have a good laugh but as adults, that isn’t always the case. We will get things off about a story from time to time. Sometimes, it can be a memory loss but other times, it can be to keep our ego in check. We might recall an event different than another but is it because it’s too far in our past or because we want to feel better? If you’re wrong, just own up to it as I am doing but others will not ever or just keep telling that story to not be the “bad guy.”

Sergeant Slaughter didn’t start out as a bad guy (a.k.a. “Razor Ramon”) but then later on, he became one. That photo below depicts Ultimate Warrior shooting one of several Sgt. Slaughter promos before their 1991 “Royal Rumble” match. U.W. fans know all too well what happened but here’s a story that’s been told by Sarge himself. I do like Sarge and so glad he and Warrior had a funny reunion moment backstage at the 2014 HOF but about that match… I recently heard him on “80’s wrestling the podcast” and my~~~ is he quite the storyteller! Very interesting guy to listen to and maybe fans know his version of their R. R. match.

According to Sarge, he had no idea Randy was going to hit U.W. in the head with the “royal” scepter, and knock him out. He claims Warrior wasn’t moving so Sarge went in for the cover, pinned U.W. and became the new champ which set him up to wrestle Hulk at WMVII . OK, I have some discrepancies with that. On “The Ultimate Collection” and “Always Believe” DVD’s , Warrior explains how they came to him (meaning Vince and whoever else,) and said Randy would get him to lose the belt which would then set up for WMVII being Sarge versus Hulk plus the retirement match between Warrior and Randy. Warrior says he liked the idea and didn’t really give it much more thought than that.

I could be naïve when it comes to wrestling “scripts” as guys went rogue from time to time, but REALLY? One would not be told all that when winning a title belt and the BIGGEST one? Vince loved Sarge. Come on Sarge, what’s going on there? He knew he’d be winning, but maybe not getting the pin at that exact moment of Warrior getting knocked out. He tells the story of thinking Randy really clobbered Warrior with that scepter since he used to play baseball so maybe…? 🤔 Was Warrior really knocked unconscious for a bit? I don’t know and don’t believe he ever addressed that in any interview I have seen. Perhaps nobody ever thought to ask Warrior about that. Would Vince just let them be that spontaneous when a title was on the line? Why wouldn’t Sarge know? So many questions. Quite possibly this is a story WWE wants Sarge to tell for dramatic reasons but we all are guilty of these E’s~~~ embellish, exaggerate, and eliminating parts. Yep, it’s true. We might even elaborate, but with me, it’s a good thing.

Maybe in fame, the stories they tell need those E’s to create a ruse with fans keeping them guessing all these years later. I’m not sure, but in real life honesty matters as there are those who still want to always come out looking good. If anyone can correctly tell the REAL story of that 1991 Rumble match, I would love to hear it. Many folks in these wrestling circles just assume without even checking other sources. Maybe Warrior knew more as well but he isn’t here anymore to ask. Sarge is though. It’s a great story but filled with gaps if you ask me.

What stories have you told that maybe got another wondering about the details? I can think of many and most involve my siblings and remembering memories just a little differently. I’m rarely wrong because of my memory as I stated before but sometimes, a few people are WAY off. It bugs me. The wrestling business is filled with tons of stories told. Just watch those “shoot” interviews I’ve mentioned which I don’t anymore . I so wish fans would stop posting when most are against Warrior .UGH! If you’re in a “fan” group, why bother? It just causes weird drama and comments we don’t need despite what happened in the past. People want their “say” though… “The right story is the full story” like Warrior said, but others may disagree on its validity.

We may not share or tell a story in its entirety for many reasons as Warrior might not have either but sometimes, that’s OK. We all have privacy but also details might not matter in a few areas. It all depends. What bothers me is when I have a happy memory and someone doesn’t remember it the same. 😧 That makes me sad but our memories can be selective. It isn’t just when older either. I do hope the Sarge Rumble story will one day be told correctly but until then, I will have my doubts. I don’t share or tell all MY stories either for my own purposes but when I do, it’s me in all honesty. Fame does have its price but it’s too hefty of a price tag for me… 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😑

P.S. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had told a story on his series “Young Rock” about a time very early in his career on finally getting a push in the business. Whoever he wrestled that night back as Rocky Maivia,( I forget who…) his opponent told him IN the ring- I believe, how “Rocky” would get his first big win. He had no idea and was shocked at the time to know that. So, it happens am sure and maybe today as well, no clue.. That was NOT for a title though!
