Do you write stuff down? Maybe not like my journals but am sure you do in one way or another. Let’s see– grocery lists, post-it’s, or a to do list for the day. I actually still do some of these but maybe you make your lists with your phone or other device nowadays!
Guess I’m just a writer (: Warrior also wrote. Every single day. I loved hearing about all the cute notes written to his lovely warrior girls inspiring their days. He also made a journal for his two daughters after they were born. I can only imagine how he filled those up with his OWN brand of fatherly wisdom. 💖📝
I was always humbled with my writing as evidenced with the notebook on the far left. Here’s another “item” I kept from high school. It was part of my sophomore service project where we had to volunteer for 30 hours at a place of business and keep a journal. This was graded and needed to be a place you’d consider for a possible career. I chose a daycare center since that really began my experience working with young children.
I loved writing my adventures with these pre-k students and gave no thought to what grade I’d receive. At the end of the school year, they were returned. The teacher was handing them out and then proceeded to give a short speech on a certain someone’s. I had no idea he was talking about me at first. Then, while moving towards my desk he held it like it weighed A TON! It was a huge compliment but like most teenagers— I was totally embarrassed! Never did I forget that moment so who knows~~ that might’ve jump started my journaling abilities!! YES, I did get an A 😉…
The other notebooks are filled with inspirational quotes, tips for writing, goals/ plans for my book Spirit and Belief, speaking gigs, techniques from others, and all great stuff. I love adding ideas while becoming educated all at once.
If you aren’t a natural with writing and would like some prompts, go for it! Sure, you can google some but you are reading this so it’s my job HERE. Just start with a few, short, simple ideas. Ask yourself personal or professional questions. List favorite activities. What makes you happy? What are some goals for the day/week/ month, etc. Whatever you like. There are NO rules. You can’t go wrong, be creative! Just don’t list too many at once.
Teachers do this activity with school kids as prompts but we adults need them too. If it really interests you, you’ll make the time without excuses. I love reading books and since some are from the library, I can’t highlight! This is a great journal idea. I wrote down some cool lines from chapters that resonated with me. I read them for a quick pick me up when needing confidence. I have bought plenty of books too. This might not be your thing and that’s ok, chose what works for you.
The fun part is to go back a few months later and see if your list is the same or different. Maybe new ideas get added and some get crossed off. Maybe small ones get turned into bigger ones. You don’t need to be a professional writer to jot down what’s important to you. Guys too!! Another great thing is if you write something down~~ you will more likely achieve it than not. This is ABSOLUTELY true! Once you focus on a thought in print, it is more willing to manifest into a reality.
It has kept me focused and not just the business end but personal events too. What a difference journaling has made for me and if you give it a try, I guarantee you’ll benefit greatly. Again, don’t start too big or complex in goals or ideas. You’ll become too frustrated and possibly even feel defeated. My suggestion for beginners is to just make fun lists or mantras you love. That way when you branch out into more challenging aspects, your lovely lists will boost you up!
Perhaps one of these days, Dana will work on releasing some of Warrior’s many journals in print for us fans. She has mentioned that since some were asking but what a daunting task! He wrote so much years ago before significant matches. I would be interested to hear what he journaled before Wrestlemania VI, VII, or others! She did have lots to pack up before her move a few years ago so what became of his many journals? Hmmmm.? I would love that answer…
I do hope you find your OWN way to take a jump start on journaling if it inspires you. Get a notebook and just jot down anything you want! I never seem to have that writer’s block but many do. There are lots of prompts out there as well as benefits but I hope my ideas got you thinking. Maybe you even kept some stuff from school like I did 😜. You’re better than that teenage “angst” but now it’s adult “angst!”
~~~ Whatever you write, just know it won’t be graded. Maybe too you can give it to your kids when they grow up!!
