This little adventure involved chaperoning a Fourth Grade Field Trip of my son’s five years ago. Oh, those memories of everything back then as I remembered this one… Both my kids had a Family Fun Center as part of their end of the year field trips. These were in fourth and fifth grade and I chose the first year to chaperone both. Two mothers in charge of around 6 kids each for a group. I always loved the outdoor warmer weather trips and tagged along on a few.
When you sign up to chaperone, your child gets to pick the kids for their group. Of course my son rallied up his comrades of all boys. Once I saw the list, yet again another Warrior moment. My son isn’t a James nor was another boy but the other four were. I giggled knowing these “James Boys” were in my charge for the day. Believe me, I asked my son if he selected these on purpose because of their names but he told me how he did like them. They were all friends. Hard to believe FOUR JAMES in the same class despite the popularity of that name.
Needless to say, they all had a blast together while I just contemplated these James Boys to myself. Not all fun and games though, no way! Work also needed to be done. They had a packet to complete and helped each other out. Tasks included: figuring the depth of the bumper boats pool, finding the median/mode range of the number of strokes for mini-golf, and calculating the racing speed of a go-kart track. Ugh… math!!! I loved seeing them accomplishing their packets while having fun too.
What a great day and my son is still friends with a few of these James Boys today in high school. I happened to look up some meanings for the name James and I do believe some apply to that other guy by the name of Warrior. Here is that list:
They are honest, benevolent, brilliant, inventive, courageous, determined, original, creative, leaders, intellectual, bold, independent, a researcher of why, bored easily, has many jobs, likes to talk, inspired, likes to show abilities before an audience, an idea sharer, and outgoing professionally.
WOW!! I don’t know the boys that well but who knows– perhaps more in their future adult life those James qualities will come forth. Warrior was born James and I am stunned as to the traits that fit him so well. None of these kids went by Jim since being 9 or 10, that’s kinda young for that shorter nickname.
As most readers of this blog in the past know, I had so many fun little connectors to Warrior then and still do today. Everything always surprises me and to know I even got his given name is so special to me. ๐๐๐๐ O.K, you can scream coincidence all you want but it’s the feeling, remember? If those boys were named anything else, I wouldn’t have noticed or had a story worth sharing on these Warrior writings at all!
Look up the meaning of your name as you might be educated with what is found out. Sometimes we just like a name but also realize its deeper connection to us. That’s why Warrior legally changed his. His deeper beliefs led him to make that choice since it is who HE is… Can you just imagine him as a little boy? Was he a Jimmy, Jamie, or just James before Jim? I really don’t know for sure but am thinking not a Jamie!!
Those James Boys gave me a story with an experience I’d never forget and five years later, it’s finally shared. They were a great group and I know these boys are just as great being teens as they were in fourth grade, including my son and the other boy…
I sure hope despite his name change, Warrior knew some of the James meanings. They still fit him, legally or not. To all the James, Jim, Jimmy, or Jamie Boys, enjoy your name and never forget its meanings– even if you decide to change it someday…
