The Whole Time πŸ’™πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€Όβ€β™€οΈ

The WWE just had their annual SummerSlam event which got me thinking. I have never used a photo of the Ultimate Warrior gorilla slamming anyone! There was one time of Sherri on here but he’s only in that pic I took. How could I forget his famous move before the splash? You also see “Ravishing Rick Rude” and the Ultimate Warrior had a few SummerSlams with him. The whole time I was missing a slam pic so here one finally is. Another first once more.

I bet you’ve had some moments of something in your life being there the whole time only you didn’t entirely notice. That could be hard for some of you and of course I have my story but here we go again to the movies πŸŽ₯ ! Get your popcorn 🍿 ready warriors since these references really explain the whole time and what it meant for the characters.

*** Spoiler Alert!*** Sorry but I do need to explain so if you haven’t seen “Mrs. Doubtfire” or “The Santa Claus 2,” skip ahead. I bet most of you have so please follow along.

Let’s begin with the 1993 movie “Mrs. Doubtfire.” Oh, so good… It’s the restaurant scene for Miranda’s birthday and Stuart starts choking. From a distance, Daniel as Mrs. Doubtfire sees this and comes to his rescue. While applying the Heimlich maneuver to Stuart, his “mask” begins to peel off. Hey, I did a post similar but anyway, Mrs. Doubtfire is then exposed as Daniel. Shocked, Miranda says:” The whole time, the whole time, the WHOLE time!” 3 times. Yep, she had to leave after that. I loved the scene also when Miranda is having tea with Mrs. Doubtfire and she seems to notice some familiarities. “She” covers the truth but sometimes it starts like that.

The next scene is about “The Santa Clause 2” from 2002. Another great one and my favorite out of the 3. I have referenced the first one and readers may remember a few years back of this movie being in a post. This time though, it’s not the magic of the staff Christmas party gifts. This time, it’s when Charlie shows Lucy who Santa is up close. First she asks:” Uncle Scott?” He looks at her and says: “Do you have any twos?” She replies back:“Go Fish, you ARE Santa, I knew it was you all along!” O.K., not exactly phrasing of the whole time but close enough. Lucy wondered earlier in the movie when she questions if her Uncle Scott is Santa. He seems puzzled but to her, only Santa has reindeer and he brought Comet with him from the North Pole. So, both Miranda and Lucy had some earlier thoughts before knowing for sure it was true the whole time or all along.

Well, if you have some popcorn left, here’s my stories of the whole time. Many may know about my teenage years and such of following the Ultimate Warrior so little did I know back then what would become my now. The Universe as well as my soul both knew the whole time. You may not believe but I always do and will. I often wondered why my emotions ran so deep the whole time and very grateful now to have some answers. I won’t know it all in my lifetime but it’s enough for this Warrior woman. πŸ’œ

The whole time relates to one more person. A few months ago, it was brought to my attention that someone who I respect and admire very much had been reading my blog for years— basically since the beginning. We are connected through a mutual friend and he has been around the wrestling business a very long time. I was overwhelmed to find this out and a little part of me was like Sally Field as Miranda: “the WHOLE time!” I can say it 3 times too… One of these days I need to ask if any certain posts stand out to him as being inspirational at all. Yes, there are many to choose from but I am curious. πŸ€” Sometimes though there is that part of me that wants to crawl under a rock because of what I wrote but it’s all me. 😬😳Every bit is true.

Despite all these references of mine, I do hope all of you can look at the good experiences now that have been with you the whole time. We can also look to those difficult moments and know how they were guiding us to be stronger the whole time. You may not have specific examples as my movies or a respected avid reader, ( still so cool!) but find out how this life has led to events that make up your whole time. Who are those people cheering you on left unnoticed? Where are those places that have always been a safe haven for you? Hopefully, you can search out those answers that become your life the whole time. Once you find out, your reaction may be one of surprise or pure joy. Let’s hope for the good warriors as the whole time needs to be felt positively.

I’ll always have those feel good movies of mine as you will have yours. I hope also to reach out to my wrestling reader friend more as he has been so gracious with me. 🀞🏻πŸ₯°For all of you, find your things that have been with you the whole time. It just might be the unexpected but take it however you can. I will always have Warrior on this spiritual journey the whole time as my soul knew he was there all along…

P.S. Always, right? Well, how about all this! I decided to listen to Warrior while outside on my yoga mat. I put on the video of those who inspired him. About 6 min. ( yep that number) or so in, he mentions burning bridges! Had no idea, would not have remembered. My last week’s post of “Bridging the Gap” ties in with this… He says to “…blow the whole da** thing up, blow it all to H***!” Once you cross a bridge, you don’t want to be tempted to go back for safety. I said “WOW!” out loud in the grass… Don’t revisit the bad..

*** One more thing! The restaurant’s name in “Mrs. Doubtfire” is called BRIDGES…

Bridge the Gap πŸŒ‰πŸŒ

I’m gonna do a little math refresher course here for anyone new but just to “rope” in all these numbers and years. I was never any good at math in school but with things we want to remember, we do the work to find answers. There were so many gaps when I followed the Ultimate Warrior and then for a brief time, Warrior himself. My years of watching him on T.V. were pretty much from late ’87-’92. Am sure fans know those years that defined his wrestling career in the WWF back then. There was that 6-7 month gap after SummerSlam ’91 until WrestleMania VIII.

You may also know or remember quite well his lengthy gap of Nov. ’92 until March ’96 with WMXII. I wasn’t able to watch his 1996 return because WWF had moved to cable and that was a luxury. I also never had seen his 1998 run in the WCW of only a few months because of no cable again. Seeing those years and what he did then had only been more recent for me. After he retired from wrestling, he married Dana in 1999 and had his girls within a few years. This I knew but still not quite sure how. Maybe my brother had told me as I hadn’t been following him anymore.

I do remember during Warrior’s 3.5 year gap all about the movies he made which included Firepower and my blog post. I was also aware of his gym and the comic books since I bought the first one. 1997 even brought the U.W. action figure to me when Warrior wasn’t in the business at that time. When I had found his website in 1999 I believe and then in 2005, again another gap but it kept bridging together for me. As far as social media goes- nope. No Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube of following him either. That was probably for the best as I’ve indicated before… I wouldn’t have been the Mom I needed to be for my young kids in those days! 😬I know he would’ve responded to my comments though. πŸ’™

That takes us all the way from 2005 until Dec. of 2013 when I found out about the Ultimate Warrior being inducted into the WWE HOF. An 8 year gap. I won’t have a gap again of course since that time brought him back never to fully “leave.” Physically he did but emotionally and spiritually for me- never ever. I looked up what it really means to bridge a gap as the expression goes. It states: ” to connect two otherwise unrelated things ( or people as it is for us) by adding something or by finding common ground.” *** I am reminded of the Ultimate Warrior’s speech during the WMVI contract signing: ” … as I take two and become one.” He was referencing both belts of his IC and Hogan’s heavyweight title. It kinda fits here although of course not literally the same. Ah yes, we do have many connectors and some I never would’ve truly realized because they are beneath the physical surface of who we are. Unfortunately, he had to pass in order for me to keep going on my bridge but the grief turned to discovery. What a gift he gave. Of course, I would trade it all for his life back. It was his time though to continue on a new bridge. His presence will forever be felt on each bridge he “runs” across.

So, warriors— have you had or continue to ever bridge the gap between something or someone? I am bringing to mind a little of the 1989 movie “When Harry Met Sally.” Yes, I reference movies a lot and more next week but this one despite being an all time favorite of mine, is an example here. They meet, don’t really like each other, go separate ways, but then keep running into the other throughout the years. I don’t want to spoil for anyone never having seen it but am sure you can guess or already know the ending. “I’ll have what she’s having.” There. I quoted a famous line from the movie, am sure you’ll know that scene! It’s a goodie… πŸ˜‰Of course as with most of my references, this is not identical to Warrior and I. He had popped into my life in many ways throughout the years. Unlike Sally who wasn’t a fan of Harry’s at first, I was always a fan of Warrior’s in and out of the ring.

When coming up with this title, I wasn’t sure of it at first. As usual, the Universe and maybe Warrior himself delivered. It was bouncing off the ropes in my head and within a few days, I heard the word gap by about 3 different people. No, not related in subject matter but just to hear a possible word for one of my posts is synchronistic with me. That’s how it works and those are signs. How do we bridge a gap? Well, we can work on bringing differences together or sometimes they line up on their own. Either way, you will finally realize just like me how that gap that once seemed so far apart is now getting closer based on your life experiences.

I hope we can bridge the gap in many areas throughout the world but it needs to start with each one of us. You can try and if the other is willing to meet you halfway across, you’re already getting there. A bridge reference is actually very cool to picture as we each come from an end to connect in the middle. Maybe we walk together but maybe we don’t. You’ll know those bridges in your life that are worth bringing the gap closer and those that just need to burn. As for me, my bridge with Warrior will always go on and despite an initial gap at first, it will never burn…

P.S. I got some goosebumps a few times while writing this so another good sign! πŸ‘

Find Your Tribe β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯πŸ‘ˆπŸ»πŸ€

Do you have a tribe warriors? I’m not just talking about fellow Ultimate Warrior fans or any other groups like that you may belong to. We are a little πŸ¦‡ sh** crazy though, aren’t we? πŸ€ͺWhat I mean are people perhaps closer in your social circle who really GET you. This can be different for us all but you’ll know the feeling when you feel it. Maybe they’ve known you your whole life or maybe you just met them. Either way, I hope eventually you find your tribe.

I bet at some point in your life, you wanted others to be just as excited about something as you were or are. Let’s use an example of two people. I bet you can guess… Yep, Warrior and myself. I’ll start with him and most fans will know this story but it fits well here. That creativity in him always was there but just not necessarily accepted by others. When he had the comic book idea and even his belief system of Destrucity, both got some PR on the WWF shows then BUT not fully agreed upon. They even gave him a full page in the magazine about Warrior University. I know he wanted Vince to be on board with all that but probably knew those others involved in the process, not so much.

Now, it’s my turn. I may have shared this story before but it also fits here so skip ahead if you’ve heard it. Back when I got this blog started, it was about a month or so in. I still couldn’t believe I was sharing my warrior writings for the whole world to read but hey- I was! At that time, I felt ready to tell my family. The birth family that is. I sent out the info in a group message and couldn’t wait to hear back. The whole time I was typing, a knot in my stomach seemed to get worse. Yeah- that was my intuitive gut trying so hard to tell me :“No, now is not the right time to tell them!” Did I listen to it? Nope… They were supportive but not in the way I needed. I thought my brother would read it every week but it’s only when I mention him and I’m fine with that now. It’s all those expectations but in reality, when you have your tribe— that doesn’t matter at all. I didn’t know that then.

I do remember however, the only one I didn’t tell almost five years ago was my Dad. Guess I just thought he really wouldn’t be interested and with wrestling, he only watched with us a little. He’s a writer of sorts too and when I finally told him, here was his response:” Keep writing. It seems to really suit you.” I never forgot his words and think he wrote them in my birthday card that year. It brought me to tears… Is he totally in my tribe though? Not really but look how he surprised me with his reaction.

The other part of all this is my spirituality. That’s the one Warrior and I share with this whole tribe thing besides the wrestling aspect of his career. As the years went on, he talked more and more about intuition, (of course) evolution, past lives, and all that which I’ve mentioned before on this blog. O.K., he did want that “brotherhood” with the conservatives Dana had mentioned and found a tribe there. The spiritual stuff though is still kinda “woo-woo” for some. No, not “WOOO!” like Ric Flair! Warrior put stuff out there that had been talked about but only in those groups who were already famous with the topic for years. I believe he wanted to find his tribe of followers on that as well. It just got me years later with his passing to connect it with my life.

I have found my tribe of spiritual “woos” but I will always ache for that close friend to share it with. No idea if Warrior ever had a close friend to share it with either. I do have my cousin but so wished she lived closer. We text daily or call about lots of stuff. I did see her a few weekends ago at her grandson’s graduation party. She came all the way to Ohio from Missouri! Very grateful she and I have this connection as do a few of her kids. My daughter has little abilities too that I’ve witnessed but we’ll see what happens as she ages.

Not everyone will be into the same activities as you but our aches will make us search for our own tribe. If you’re not into crystals, oracle cards, or saging like me, that’s fine. You’ll still be in my tribe if you are a fan of Warrior’s or my writing. πŸ˜‰He may not have been into all of it spiritually but Dana is. At least I hope she still believes. Warrior also found his tribe of fellow artists and I am glad he did. He needed that too besides his other passions. There are those who love his fitness videos so that’s another tribe. We do need those connections but need them more in a personal way that isn’t always thru social media.

If you haven’t found your tribe, keep looking. It is crucial for our overall well- being as your spirit knows. You may not believe that but I do. Warrior had his tribe of fellow wrestlers he admired but again, look beyond that career to other outlets. Your tribe is there but as always, you need to do the work too. We will be in this tribe of Warrior fans or writers but explore those other parts of you inside. Listen to your gut. If it feels like a knot, that is NOT your tribe! I thank Warrior for being in my tribe and I thank you all for allowing me in just a small part of yours. πŸ₯°πŸ’œπŸ’ͺ🏻✍🏻

P.S. When I recently went to an outdoor yoga class, another sign was there. My favorite instructor had on a shirt that said: “Warrior.” So thankful I went despite almost missing it! AND another sign— we were watching a Western movie that night which took place in New Mexico, just sayin’!

~ Right before this one beautiful scene in the movie, my left ear started ringing really loud! Hello Warrior… So I connected it to a dream of mine… It was part of a “bucket list” I still need to do ❀️

Shoot Those FireworksπŸŽ‡

***I usually put these kind of things as a PS at the end but this happened earlier and have to share! While at the vet with my dog awaiting her laser therapy, we saw a big boxer waiting by the desk. When it was finally his turn, the owner turned to the receptionist and said : “This is Dingo.” Well, had to smile at that and it’s a Wednesday… πŸ’™πŸΎπŸ˜‰

I just love fireworks, don’t you? Maybe you all don’t but it’s one of my favorite things about summer here in the U.S. People shoot them off on July 4th but basically where I live, it’s more like for the whole week. I also love when the baseball team wins and that Friday night is all about πŸ’₯πŸŽ†πŸ§¨. Those celebrations are worthy of fireworks just like that Ultimate Warrior pic you see. His logo all lit up- love that too. WWE used them for his WMVI match, WMXII match, and this one was part of “King of the Ring” against Jerry Lawler. I know WWE went all out with pyrotechnics as the years went on plus many other stunts. It makes it all so very exciting!

What about other times though? I remember we’d keep some of our fireworks and shoot them off later in the summer or beyond. Oh no! The 4th is long over and we might get in trouble. The rule breakers are at it again! We’re disturbing the peace, right? We should be able to celebrate little things too and not just a party, celebration, or big win. We need to do things because we like to and not just what’s socially acceptable. It doesn’t have to be about those light displays either. People have a dining room just for special occasions, guest towels that rarely get used, and china in a cabinet collecting dust. I’m not against any of those items but if you haven’t already guessed, nope- I don’t have them.

Some things are great for show but not for practicality. I have a built in hutch but it’s used for family memories, photos, candles, and things similar. We need to use our stuff now without always waiting for that “perfect” or right time. My maternal Grandmother was also my godmother. She gave me her silver when I was 20 years old. I said:” Grandma, don’t you want to give this to some of your older granddaughters who are married and have a family?” She says:“No, you’re my goddaughter and I want you to have it now. You’ll use it one day.” I knew not to argue with her.

It sat in my childhood attic for years and then my house now. Finally, one day I decided to get it out. Why I thought of this, no idea. Guess I wanted a project or my intuition spoke up. I am so grateful I got it out a few years before she passed. Our silverware didn’t match at all so that was another issue. I bought some polish and it looked brand new. It became our new “regular” silverware without it being special. Maybe Grandma wanted me to use it for “special” occasions but there aren’t many of those times. She was right though. I would use it someday and am still. Silver is something that is handed down but will become obsolete in this day and age. I thank my Grandma for her gift which meant more to me than some forks, knives, and spoons.

Let’s shoot those fireworks, use that china, dry off with those towels, and get out the good silver if you have it. Stop waiting for something big to happen or someone to show up. You can show up for yourself and do those things now. Yes, being in pro wrestling means putting on a show for entertainment so sometimes fireworks or any kind of display will work to pop a crowd.

We had a dining room table growing up and never ate in there unless my Grandparents visited. Our family of eventually 6 had to crowd around our small kitchen table for dinner. The dining room was “reserved” and my Mom never changed that, not once. We are too programmed generationally to just accept what is the norm until we are the adults in charge. I understand being raised a certain way but guess what warriors? It’s o.k. to change and break away from all those specific traditions. I have a chapter all about this in my book Spirit and Belief but am sure if you are an Ultimate Warrior fan, you know exactly what I mean.

I hope you all can connect to any of these big moments in life that can also be celebrated as little ones. Most people maybe “officially” recognize a milestone birthday or anniversary and just gloss over every other one. We need to celebrate them ALL no matter the age. We are worth it warriors. I know Warrior himself didn’t have that much growing up and with Dana, they celebrated lots of stuff. Life goes by so fast to not revel in all the good coming our way. You don’t need a big fireworks display but just your own time of being here and enjoying your moments. Don’t have those regrets of never doing something because the people before you didn’t or that an object is for a later use.

I will forever love seeing any fireworks show I can get my hands on from the parking lot of a mall when I was a kid, to a local park, our own backyard, neighborhood shows, ballgames, and anywhere else. It always makes me wonder in such amazement despite the noise that intimidates some. *** Just thought of Warrior on that sentence.*** I also will forever never be just a person of “show” all the time. It’s nice for some things but for the most part, I like to use it all.

Get the stuff messy, dirty, or worn out. It means you loved it and really made it part of your life. Whatever your “specials” are, don’t wait to use them. The day will come when you’ll realize you should’ve shot those fireworks off later in the season, ate at that dining room table more, or even used those guest towels. My Grandma had her silver and you will have what’s yours. Make every day a special one. πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈβ£οΈ

P.S. ( yep, as usual!) I STILL love the song “Firework” by Katy Perry. It’s been mentioned before on here. Listen to the lyrics, you’ll get it. Goosebumps on this Warrior girl!!!

Peel Those Layers πŸŽ¨

*** This post is a day early so Warrior Tuesday today. Our dog is having ACL surgery tomorrow so my mind will be elsewhere. Send her prayers!! πŸΆπŸ™πŸ»***

I know, I know… I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again. Even though I LOVED all the colors Warrior used for his mask over the years, I liked when that paint got peeled off so I could see him underneath. Yes fans, I realize that paint was so iconic to his character and some didn’t like the unpainted look for a time. He wouldn’t be the Ultimate Warrior without it, right? I get it- believe me warriors.

Did you ever start peeling off chipped or cracked paint and just had to keep going? It was driving you nuts!! I’ve done that before and am doing it now with my nail polish. Maybe some of you aren’t bothered by it at all but of course this just really isn’t about paint. You know that if you’ve read my posts before. The Ultimate Warrior had his masks, we all have ours in a way but let’s get to the real stuff underneath. I compare it to peeling an onion. You can say orange but an onion has more layers and will make you cry! We gotta do that to get through it all. The peeling and the crying.

Do you feel the need to “peel off” or “peel away” what no longer serves a purpose in your life? Oh boy, I’ve been doing this for years now and it’s still going on. I mention some things in my book Spirit and Belief and how I was moving away from old habits, people, food, and yes- even beliefs. It’s part of my awakening and we all have our own versions whether or not you consider yourself spiritual . Warrior had his too. We have to peel off the old to make room for the new. That’s how it was for Hulk Hogan ( yes, he’s mentioned here again) when he “peeled” off his Heavyweight title to make room for the NEW which became the Ultimate Warrior as champion. Yes, it was hard for him to do that. We all probably know the stories but it’s hard for US to peel off stuff or situations we become very attached to. We hold on so tight because we are afraid of anything new. Does this sound like you?

Even the simplest things can be difficult to peel away since they have been with us so long. Routines can be hard enough to change but what about relationships, jobs, or a big life decision? Yeah, those require much more from us and lots of peeling. When I peeled back my paint of layers, there never seemed to be an end. Once I thought I got thru one, more kept coming. It’s for life warriors, it really is. We have to keep peeling to get to what we truly need. Literally, you’d get to the inside of that onion but I’m talking about life issues here of course.

I’ve had to peel away these physical symptoms to find what really caused them and it isn’t typical at all. I am more educated now about the realness of my layers and am still learning all the time. It doesn’t have to be negative at all although our fears tend to take over. It is teaching us something and we, as warriors will fight on thru those layers. I bet you even know what some of yours are. I know Warrior did also as very few saw underneath to his true self. Maybe you just don’t connect to something much anymore yet still the paint remains. It could be crumbling or fading but you keep it because it’s yours. It’s familiar, comfortable, and convenient. You know what I’m saying, don’t ya?

Those layers could go deep and be stuck so hard, nothing can get it off. It will be a struggle but if we stay the same, we won’t grow. Rooms in our houses need new paint over time, a car might, and yes the Ultimate Warrior needed new paint too. I know some people that never change much at all and are perfectly content. I do keep some things the same for a bit but then get bored and need to mix it up. Us warriors are not robots as you may know. Change is part of life with all its painted layers. We feel it all- the ugly, bad, good, and great which will come. We just have to believe it’s underneath that painted face or even onion.

We do need to start over in new ways and we’ll know when that is. Sometimes, the signs are right in front of us but we ignore them. Other times, we realize those signs are pointing us in a new direction that will be better for us even though we may not know it then. Warrior leaving the business of wrestling comes to mind for me here but I can connect my life too like I always do.

Keep peeling those layers so the real you can shine through. That paint will come off if you work hard enough. It may not peel as easily as the Ultimate Warrior’s mask but once it does, a new colorful you will take its place. Throw that smelly πŸ§… away and enjoy a good cry. It’s exactly what you need to see the truth behind those layers you fought against.

P.S. That photo above of U.W. was taken during the Royal Rumble of ’90 when he and Hogan were in the ring together. A “what if” moment of last week! I hope this post was “a- peeling” for you (: Stop crying!!!

The β€œWhat If…” Game

O.K., warriors- we’re gonna play a little game here and you might be familiar with it some. I did a post called “Just Imagine warriors” back in 2019 but some recent comments got me thinking more. I am in some Ultimate Warrior Facebook groups and a few subjects get brought up quite a bit.

Their “what if” mainly centers on who Ultimate Warrior opponents could have been had he stayed in the business for a duration. Another “what if” that I heard mentioned from time to time was regarding Hulk Hogan turning heel after WrestleMania VI. I actually had heard that from Hogan himself in an interview. What if and just imagine all in one. Instead of Hulk presenting the belt to Warrior after the match, he’d beat him up as the crowd would be stunned. Losing his belt and becoming bad in the same night! Vince said nope, not gonna happen. There are those who say Hogan made lots of stuff up but who knows? πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈI never heard Warrior’s take on that at all-maybe he never knew?

Which takes us to some of those mentioned as opponents of the Ultimate Warrior. Most wanted to see him against Jake “The Snake” Roberts but that never was scripted. Warrior should’ve got his revenge on the “snake man” for tricking him during all that prep work involving the Undertaker. They all did team up once, wow… Some also added Earthquake, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, and others. The Attitude Era factored in with names like Yokozuna, Diesel, and the British Bulldog. A few Warrior wrestled perhaps but not actual feuds with a big storyline. Who would you like to have seen against the Ultimate Warrior in this what if game?

Let’s bring ourselves into the match. I’ve done this with changing careers but what if other aspects of your life switched opponents so to speak. What if you lived somewhere else? What if you never got married if you are or never had kids if you do? What if you were born into a totally different family? Alright, that’s probably too deep to answer. 😬I know I ramble too much sometimes… Our free will determines lots of those choices but often times when it comes to business, the boss or other circumstances tag themselves in.

Think about both huge title wins in the Ultimate Warrior’s career. We’ve all probably heard those rumors that Warrior “never stuck his nose into any of that” but they were there. With his SummerSlam ’88 Intercontinental win over the Honky Tonk Man, it really wasn’t gonna happen that way at first. Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake was injured but I heard HTM didn’t want to drop the belt to him. Hmmm…. He didn’t mind letting his longtime reign end by crowning the Ultimate Warrior -yay! Thanks HTM and Vince am sure. How about the Heavyweight bout at WMVI? Well, the crowd brought that together as Vince pondered the what if game. πŸ€”Two good guys against each other and both belts up for grabs. That was all new back then and had never happened before. Not to mention leaving the country for a Mania. Vince came out later to say how he felt Warrior really wasn’t truly ready to be the champ. I disagreed of course. They wanted another Hulk which Warrior was not. Hulk had also said all the fans were looking at him on the cart instead of the new champ in the ring. Almost 68,000 people and all looking at him? Quite an exaggeration… not bashing but come on Hulk. πŸ™„After less than a year, Hogan won the belt back against Sgt. Slaughter in WMVII. *Sigh** but I loved Warrior and Randy so that needed to happen.

Oh, the what if game can go on and on. What if there was a rematch in a way between Hulk and Warrior? Oh wait, there kinda was in WCW which resulted in a cheating win by Hulk. What if Warrior didn’t come and go so many times? We will always say that but the truth is what ifs are just scenarios. I personally like more positive what ifs in this game since there are too many negatives out there all the time about Warrior and his career. We can plan for the good and hope for the best but it may not always work that way. Our lives happen whether or not we plan everything out. We can’t and don’t. There are always tons of ideas and decisions to make all the time. The professional ones might get made by others and we need to comply but the personal ones we do have more control over. It may not go in that straight line without obstacles but the detours will still get us there.

You can play the what if game so many times but honestly, enjoy your life now. It’s all you have. Yes, it can become quite interesting with those FB U.W. groups and all their banter. Some I enjoy, some not. Let’s just not play the game too much in our own life. If you spend a lot of time playing what if, you aren’t truly living. You can play a little because we are human but just live it the best you can in the way that works. What if can become great as am sure Warrior thought when he became that intensified character. “What if I could be the Heavyweight Champ one day?” Yep, that works! Use your own what if to make the great stuff happen and let go of the bad. The what if game will then be won and the NEW Champ is you! πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ†

P.S. Two possible opponents I mentioned of U.W’s were inducted with him in WWE’s HOF 2014 class. For those that don’t know— Jake Roberts and Razor Ramon.( aka Scott Hall)

Are You a β€œPoser?” πŸ’™πŸ’ͺ🏻

*** My condolences go out to the family of WWE legend “Mr.Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. He was my sister’s favorite heel… Too many great ones now up in “Parts Unknown.” CTE is so serious as one of the “Jims” my husband was friends with for so many years also is suffering with this affliction. Rest In Peace Paul… πŸ’”

Now onto today…

My daughter came outside when I was first writing this story and asked about the title. She said: “Ya know, there’s different meanings to that word.” I said: ” yep, I know.”

So, can you answer that question I just “posed” to you above? Yes, the Ultimate Warrior was posing for that photo shoot as he did for so many others over the years. Of course I am here taking this statement a little further. Would you expect anything less? Do any of you remember the 2007 movie “Wild Hogs?” Well, those guys were called “posers” for pretending to be real bikers. They just wanted a road trip but encountered the Del Fuegos who were actual bikers. Another interesting tidbit from the movie ( yes, I remember since we own and love it) is that they were going to Madrid, New Mexico. That’s MAH-Drid, not Madrid-Spain! It is a real city near Santa Fe, man- who lived there? Hint to those new*** he’s that “poser” above. Spain connects to Warrior also.πŸ˜‰

Have we all been posers at certain times in our lives? Yep, for sure. Was Warrior? If any of you ever watched or knew him, you’d know that answer. For those unaware- he was not BUT am sure deep down did want to fit in with some aspects throughout his life. We do this as posers for acceptance, to be liked, respected, and all that. We may not even be fully aware of what we are doing sometimes which robs our authenticity.

I’ll share a story of mine and it’s a biggie. It’s been swirling in my head a while now and this post is perfect with the topic. Many years ago at my second preschool job ( the one that’s been in a few dreams and blogged about) I was finally eligible for a week’s paid vacation. Most full-timers got this and used it in the summer staggered with others. It was my turn and I was looking forward to doing NOTHING. A staycation was in the works. My co-workers all asked questions about going someplace, getting away from it all, and that tropical fun in the sun stuff. It all sounded great to me but really didn’t happen. I just wanted to sleep in, maybe grab lunch out, swim in my pool, get some sun, workout at a decent time, and stay up later. I know- boring right? But, I didn’t have all those other factors lined up for a vacay with my bestie or even the money to “get away from it all.”

What’s a girl to do? I became a poser and told one horrific lie that slammed out of control. I am no liar so let’s clear that right away forοΏΌ any doubters still not sure of my stories with Warrior. Back then, it was very different. Anyway, this “story” became me visiting my cousin and her husband as we went to the Grand Canyon. This wasn’t true. They both do have Native American blood and he was actually raised on a Hopi Reservation. I said we’d visit that area too but um, no..,

Everyone was fascinated as I had them all, hook line and sinker. Never did I think of the future consequences of not having a tan or even pictures to show. I made sure the backyard got myself sunburned and that I lost my camera on the plane. This was before cell phones with cameras. Oh my, what a choke hold I got myself into but didn’t submit. No idea if anyone believed it all but needless to say, nobody ever asked what I’d do on vacation again. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Don’t let this happen to you warriors but if you’ve had something similar, you’ll learn about that word of being a poser. I didn’t want them to think I was boring and couldn’t afford a trip like that even though it was true. Single gals are supposed to travel, right? Not this one and I wouldn’t be honest with them. Am sure there were other poser moments but this one wins the match. Can you relate to my story or are you thinking- oh boy, she had issues. You are right if you say issues because my confidence in myself was pretty non-existent back then. It isn’t so much now as it’s a life long battle but I am better as I hope you are too.

Warrior helped me so much when I didn’t even know I needed it. He took that teenage girl ( long before the Grand Canyon story) who still was a poser with little confidence and transformed her into an authentic evolving Warrior of her own. No, I can’t give him full credit and he wouldn’t want it anyway but some credit- yes. It’s o.k. if you’ve been a poser before because once we get to that teenage self, our true self fades away a little. There’s so much more pressure out there in the “real” world. Your true self can come back. If you work hard enough, it will. Even as adults, we are posers trying to be a specific way so others will think we are ultimate when our real selves already are. You just have to love that YOU enough to know the truth.

The Ultimate Warrior and Warrior himself were no posers but fame does make it easier to become one. It isn’t the literal posing but that real aspect of being one of “them” and what we do to get there. If posing, catch yourself and ask what’s more important. Is it being a poser no matter the cost or is it being YOU no matter the risk? Your choice as always. Situations can be different but deep down, you know the right answer. Let’s only be posers for those photographs, not our ways of living.

***Thank you Warrior despite your challenges for showing me what posing is not about and for the realness to be YOU with or without a camera. Strike a pose but only if you hear a “click!”

P.S. I still haven’t been to the Grand Canyon but in 2016, we saw the Badlands on our South Dakota trip. They are the “mini” G.C. to me! Just beautiful, I could look all day!

P.P.S. Yes, another! Every time we go on a bike 🚲 ride, ( real bikes- not motorcycles!) my husband always says : “Wild Hogs!” He really does…

Be Compassionate warriors πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Hey there warriors. Well, here I am again with a word that kept coming to me. I went into that debate mode of writing about this or not as a similar post is on Spirit and Belief this week. They are sorta a tag team again as the word of compassion works today too. No, it’s not like I’m researching all these virtues or attributes- really it’s not like that at all. It’s more connectors that fit into my life or current situation of sorts.

I’ll ask you all some questions first before sharing my stories today. Do you consider yourself a compassionate person? Is it a trait just reserved for some and not all? Maybe we just throw it around without fully realizing its definition. I know what it means but looked it up anyway. It actually is defined as: “to suffer together.” What? Why would we want that? We may know others that go thru what we are experiencing but everyone- no way! Guess what though? We do suffer together as people trying to make the best out of this great life we all have. Our individual sufferings may differ but collectively, we’re all just the same.

I don’t mean this as a downer and nobody wants pity which many may confuse with compassion. Empathy is another similar word. I kinda thought they were the same but no, not quite. Empathy is just the feeling you get when noticing another’s situation. Compassion is actually taking action to help a person. Your action might be different from people but compassion takes empathy a step further.

Going back to the Ultimate Warrior biography on A&E’s network in May, here were some of my emotions. First, I KNOW I discussed this bio already but you’ll see my point. While watching some parts, the word compassion entered my head. I kept saying to the T.V. ( in my mind of course) “I’m so sorry Warrior. I am very sorry for so much.” I may have said more but you get the idea. Some clips were when he was a young introverted boy as explained by his Mom. I too could totally feel those emotions just switched to a girl. So much of what she said sounded just like me. I felt it was a mirror of a different kind. Empathy yes, but compassion makes me take action like writing, speaking, and using my view to make a difference or to inspire others. The apology video was another scene where I talked it thru to myself. *SIGH.* πŸ’”

Now, there have been some other “findings” that a few U.W. groups discovered. I do watch and read since it’s important being educated while having your own opinion. This wasn’t the good stuff like podcasts or even those “shoot” interviews. These were specifics all about his passing. I realize Warrior will always be talked about all over the wrestling world and perhaps some body building circuits but again- just SIGH from me. “I’m so sorry yet once more Warrior.” Not pity for him but empathy and compassion. Guess I need it for the others that post those controversial articles or videos. That’s tough to do but I can be the better warrior that I need to be.

Another reference of compassion came from my most recent session with the Energy Healer. I realize this isn’t for everyone but she is helping me tremendously with many emotional issues. She relayed a card deck for me to consider about a mythological Chinese goddess named Kuan Yin. I need that feminine energy that I lack sometimes from other women in my life. Guess what her speciality is? Compassion… It’s also mercy, self-love, and light. I just received the deck and have done a few of the exercises. That word came thru for me in a new way. I also use crystals which is another belief system. One that I have been using for a few weeks now is Rhodonite. I have written down all the meanings and this one is all about love in its many forms. The first word though to describe it is–yep~~compassion. It’s all about balancing emotions which this girl needs daily. Hey~ I talk much about balance too so who wouldn’t love that? It helps with trauma and all of us carry internal scars. Another three count of the biography, card deck, and crystal that all connect to compassion.

We can agree to disagree on being compassionate to others who are difficult as I struggle with this often too. I actually am not close to some that I was raised with. There isn’t a rule book for any of us to follow plus that isn’t me anyway. Sounds like someone else I know… Let’s work on being more compassionate with ourselves first because it does need to start there. It may take our entire lifetime here to get it but we need to start now.

Whether or not any of you readers were compassionate with Warrior’s many decisions, just remember we are all human with the same emotions. He as the wrestler or him as his true self like those pics above. It’s just the actions that make us different. Be compassionate warriors no matter the risk. Warrior learned. I am always learning and you need to also. Turn empathy into compassionate action, your ultimate spirit will thank you…

P.S. A very HAPPY Birthday goes out to an avid reader of mine. How about that? His special day falls on my blog day AND Warrior’s did also this year. I thought I was done with milestones!!! Enjoy this day sir, you deserve it. Thank you for all YOUR compassion… πŸ’™πŸŽ‚πŸ₯³πŸ‘πŸ»

P.P.S. Another moment of compassion I had near the end of the bio was with Dana. I wanted to reach out and grab her hands as she relayed her possible regret over the girls not being with them outside the hotel before Warrior passed. I was saying to myself: “No, no, no. Don’t ever feel that way. You did the right thing. Warrior would not have wanted them there.” ~~~ I didn’t just feel her pain, my mind wanted to take action and in my own way I did…

Alone at the Top πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ’™πŸ”

“You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be.” ~Marianne Williamson

I think that quote fits for today as does that photo you see of Warrior above. Do you feel alone at the top? Are you even at the top or do you ever want to be? All interesting questions that I’m bringing into focus or should I say: “FOKE!” like Warrior had said. Whether or not one is alone at the top, this concept can apply to us all in many ways.

Let’s start with Warrior. Did he feel alone at the top? First off, as a champion in the business of wrestling, you alone have that title and nobody else so yes– that applies. But, of course I always mean deeper stuff as you know. Some may like it up there where others may feel intimidated. Warrior wanted that title eventually and most who pursue something similar also have that same motivation. It does come with some issues and sacrifices. Warrior’s title wins made others jealous of his fast rise to the top but he set a goal and achieved it. He got attention a different way than many before him ever got and they had been there much longer. People say Warrior was a “loner” of sorts but does being at the top make you lonely? That all depends as they are not the same thing. I can’t really say if he felt alone for sure but it did factor in with how he already appeared to some. He did it his way and had support from those he trusted.

We all run like the Ultimate Warrior did. πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈYep, you read that right. We do in a way. It’s the running or the chase that excites us to go after that job, relationship, position, or anything that interests us. That strive to get to the top pumps our adrenaline of competition. The question is: When you get there, then what? Do you run to the next goal or revel in the current one for a bit? Being alone at the top can be great when you achieve it but you need to think carefully of your next move. πŸ€”Once you have that elusive thing you’ve wanted for so long, are you satisfied? Maybe you crave more or perhaps are happy with being where you are right now. I can attest to all this with my writing. It’s up to you warriors. Just know that our lives are fluid, not stagnant. We do need to keep pushing ourselves but it’s quite alright to celebrate a victory for a little while- even a small one.

For some of us, we may never strive for that top status and may never be alone. You can be at the πŸ” without necessarily being alone. The opposite is also true. I of course identify with Warrior on many levels and being alone is one I totally connect to. Being at the top— well, that all depends with how it’s defined. I never pursued a career the way he did but still felt at the top many times in my life. It’s not just that career as I’ve said before. You can be at the top with fitness which is how Warrior trained himself to be. It doesn’t need to be taken literally but just being satisfied with how your life is going. We all need to be better though because we learn and evolve always.

Warrior was alone at the top with his disciplined mindset and his spiritual beliefs. Am sure others like myself understand but at the time of sharing his points of view back then, all alone. He totally echoed other great spiritual thinkers and some I follow today. When I first discovered their teachings several years ago, Warrior’s philosophies sounded so much like work they were putting out into the world. So alone? Maybe not totally but to others outside that thinking, yep.

It’s ok to be alone in your thoughts but we do enjoy sharing with like minds. I am grateful to be able to do that now as these past years of gaining or remembering different beliefs have been a struggle. I do like my alone time but some are afraid of it. The mind will wander, oh no.., Warrior wasn’t afraid of that, I’m not either. We are social creatures but NEED time by ourselves even though some may not know what to do. Being at the top will be different for every single person with how you view that idea. If you give your best and be yourself, you’ll know you were at the top when it’s time to hit that pillow at night.

Just because you achieved that dream, wish, or goal doesn’t mean it’s all over. Plan a new one, keep going, and of course- always believe. Take that time to relax if at the top or even at the top alone. You will know what both of those mean and how to interpret them. The running can be fun but know when to slow down once something is caught. The Ultimate Warrior’s running will always be remembered as his time alone at the top wasn’t long. He needed to be alone to use his mind and attained the top win of all. Whatever your goals, be the warrior you need to be to make them come true.

P.S. Wasn’t gonna have a PS this week but just thought of something… Maybe it was Warrior inspired…. Well, his top win of all involved getting that heavyweight title BUT I can hear him saying what his REAL top win was: his girls… πŸ’•

Wrestling Theme Music Stories πŸ€£πŸŽΌπŸ‘‘πŸͺ†

I am back to bringing you a funny post warriors as these few stories certainly made me chuckle. We could all use a good laugh or two despite the “seriousness” of life sometimes. I’ve already shared my story about the Ultimate Warrior’s music of “Unstable” and all those pianos but these few belong to other Superstars. Hmmm… do I go way back or start with something recent? I’ll stick to the present first.

If any of you readers read “My Warrior Therapy,” you’ll recall a story I shared about my wonderful physical therapist. He was sent from the gods to me and am so grateful for his work. One day as I was walking down the long corridor to his office, I heard music playing. He usually has a playlist going and for some reason, I knew this song. It was the King’s entrance music! Take your pick– Harley Race or Jerry Lawler. Finally, I looked up the title. It’s called: “The Great Gate of Kiev.” I never knew that. I wanted to say: “Well, that’s certainly one Royal greeting!” but I didn’t. I only laughed to myself picturing both guys the Ultimate Warrior wrestled at different times during his career. FYI- that music is LONG! I probably heard it in its entirety.

We always chat for a bit first before therapy would begin as this music went on and on. It took so much for me to not laugh while lying on my stomach across the table. We need to learn something new and that day, it was hearing the King’s music. 🀴🏻🀴🏻Listening to all of it made me finally find out the title. I laughed all the way home. I don’t need to see my therapist anymore (although ya never know) but will miss our spirited conversations. Great guy, great day.

The second wrestling theme music concerns a beautiful wooden music box given to my daughter as a baby. My brother-in-law used to travel globally and would always have gifts for both kids when we’d see him. My son got a spaceship (or should I say rocket ship?!) music box that opened and he could see all the astronauts inside. We all loved this and it was so cool. Well, my baby girl’s has Matryoshka dolls on the inside. Most probably know that is Russian. The dolls spin around when you wind it up and it plays the Russian National Anthem. My BIL went there a lot. It also has pink roses all over it. I think I always loved it more than her. Did I remember or connect this to let’s say Nikolai Volkoff at the time? Nope, not at all. Too far back in my memory then.

I would wind it after nap time as she’d stand up in her crib, point at them high on a shelf and say: “Mommy, dollies?” She’d move her little head from side to side and click her tongue like the music. It was the cutest thing ever and this continued for quite a while with her. I loved our routine and of course the pink doll is my favorite. It now sits in my hutch far away from her room that used to contain little girl stuff. She’s 15 now. I will always have that memory and it wasn’t until more recently how I finally connected the music! Oh, the laughs that came out of me. πŸ˜†The Ultimate Warrior did wrestle Nikolai too as I always remembered he could never sing the whole song before getting beat up by his opponent. I know there were other Russian wrestlers but N.V. was at the top. Nikolai was really Yugoslavian so I wonder how long it took him to memorize that song about “Mother Russia?” πŸ€” I still wind the music box sometimes nostalgically humming along and saying: “Mommy, dollies?”

I was kinda hoping for a three count with these stories but today as Jesse Ventura had said during WMVI: “it’s just a two!” Hopefully, I brought you all some laughs as well but am sure you have your funny connectors or stories too.

Everyone has those iconic things that define us and for the wrestlers, it was their theme music. We all knew who was coming out when their music or song started. It’s the same today. I always thought some were so creative as it seemed to capture their personality or gimmick- despite an anthem. Even though the singing ones weren’t necessarily my favorite, I gotta always give them credit for doing that. It became so synonymous with a character for years and you’d never forget it. I bet you all have your favorites too. Of course I’m biased ( can you guess?) but some would really get me all excited just to hear a few notes. We know many that used a traditional song but some were created originally like “Unstable.” It’s perhaps not as original today like it was of that era but as long as it works and fans relate, that’s what matters.

From “The Great Gate of Kiev” to the Russian National Anthem, I will always remember those themes for specific times in my life very fondly. It doesn’t matter if it’s a therapist’s office or my girl’s bedroom, I’ll take it all. I finally did record myself playing “Unstable” on my daughter’s keyboard. Can’t believe I screwed it up at the end, ugh! Once again though, it also will never be forgotten. I taught myself those three piano notes as a teen and can still play it today. I know some of you are either singing those songs or playing them in your head right now, aren’t ya? I’m right there with you. πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈβ€οΈ
