A Different Feeling 🤍

Before this different feeling post of today~~~ always a few other things, right? First, glance down when you can. Yep, a selfie but here’s why. It actually is a pic I am using on some socials right now but the real reason is this. I just didn’t like any lately of Ultimate Warrior on media or looking at my collection., That hasn’t happened in such a while so what the heck, you get me today. So there. Second point as a lead in and I have to share a little funny. When watching SmackDown a few weeks ago, (like I said with Hulk’s tribute,) and after that segment was over~~~ I really wasn’t going to keep watching. They did, however insert other clips throughout the show. Here’s where it gets funny.

I told my husband how we can change the channel with no DVRing wrestling as that part was all I wanted to see. He said NO!!! Huh, who is this person? He didn’t feel like switching around and decided to keep it on. I said he totally can watch something else because seriously, I totally didn’t care. So, guess what? I kept watching too just to see or hear any reactions as my son came in. He just mentioned it being fake but his responses really weren’t the ones that surprised me. It was my husband and daughter whose interest became held~~~ more so than mine. I say, it was comical in a way but hey~~~ I got to share in a 2️⃣ hour episode about wrestling with them. What universe is this? 😜 The excitement that intrigued them were the upcoming “SummerSlam” matches. My husband was amazed by Jelly Roll, while my girl is a huge Logan Paul fan on YouTube already so she came in during that time. Of course I had relayed celebrities being part of WWE for years now so it isn’t a new thing. It was just an unforeseen moment in time to watch and see them kind of cheering for someone in their own “wrestling way.” 😲

OK, then~~~ onto those feelings which have crept up within me and stayed. It just is different somehow as I knew it would be. Time does go on and yet, bit by bit the past fades. Always legendary as remembered and yet still hurting. Do you understand wrestling fans? Yep, Hulk’s passing it is and with it brings newer perspectives for sure. I’m not making this another sad tribute but bittersweet while contemplating. I just have so much greater respect for them all now it seems more than ever. ❤️‍🩹 Yes, we move forward to the here and now and have to but there’s still that lingering sense of loss and sadness.

As adults, we are still kids at heart, true? We are allowed to hold onto those people, things, and events that once defined us and yet not too tightly as I blogged a few years back. It’s super tough redefining ourselves and going in another direction. Memories will always remain and we choose to make new ones~~~ however that works for us. It just takes time to adjust to a new “normal” without what once was. I just believe in my gut that somehow, someway we think it will be the same or that some are indeed “ immortal” despite their actions. We know this is not true and yet with being human, it just comes. To quote Ultimate Warrior: “ physically, none of us can live forever!” *** The feel is different. Maybe you are this way too or with other situations that have happened in your life. Can you tell?

I remember when watching old matches and thinking how EVERYONE of them involved is gone now. How can that be? Wasn’t it just 1989 (or fill in a year, I thought of “SummerSlam” as that’s the theme now.) UW versus Rick Rude~~~ more on him in a bit… Wasn’t I just 17? We can’t wallow and yet need our own time to process~~~ TIME… Another reason I love the genuine folks keeping moments alive with pro wrestling and especially the old WWF days. Check out “ The Wrestling Collector” store in New Jersey owned by Tommy Fierro who also owns ISPW. He has TONS of merch and even old VHS tapes. That takes me back… 🙂‍↕️ Legends make appearances too. He cohosts the 80s wrestling podcast where I am a frequent caller! Some even make it such a huge passion but as long as you don’t live there. One day with my kids, this will all be a forgotten piece of my life but right now I am fully present as I have to be. I so enjoy being part of the weekly podcast and tomorrow’s is all about “Ravishing Rick Rude.Maybe I’ll call in again. I mentioned him earlier…🤔

A different feeling absolutely and perhaps the next time I watch WMVI ~~~ “ The Ultimate Challenge” I will applaud it all as it was too soon a few weeks ago… Will I be watching any other WWE related content soon? Who knows but I’m following John Cena’s storyline and catch some YouTube videos when I want. It’s so crazy today what with social sites, videos everywhere, etc. that it’s tough to NOT know what’s going on. But all is a choice and for a little bit, I still care~~~ a little…

Warrior might say I’m such a “mark,” but I am selective, ha! The old days are behind us as memories are irreplaceable. Yes, I did look up results for “ SummerSlam” but didn’t share with my husband or daughter. You know what though? He actually KNEW results as it came with “ news”on his phone. How about that? A different feeling yet again… I’ll tag you all in next week, hopefully with a UW photo too!

P.S. Here’s a quote I recently read from a YouTube video: Legends don’t die. They echo.” WOW… 😮 A different feeling once again… 🥹

AND~~~ I have recently added Hulk’s name to my list during meditation. I tell Warrior to say hi to many from me… I jokingly add to just not have him win “ The Ultimate Challenge!” 😉

Redemption or Revenge? 👏🏻💙💪🏻

I have a few things to mention before getting into today’s topic. First off, last week marked the 37th anniversary with the television debut of Ultimate Warrior. Yes, I do bring this up every year but it’s always worth a mention. How is it getting to be close to 40 years, oh my… I was 15 and a sophomore in high school as that began all this for me. Do you lifelong fans remember that time? No milestone but still a time to look back on if you are or were a fan of his and following the old WWF in the 80s. *** What WAS a milestone yesterday though was my husband and I remembering 25 years ago when we first met! I can still picture all the details. I know he does too… 🥰. ***Lastly, a few days ago here in the US was Veterans Day. I did an entire post on that several years back. I honor and salute all of those vets, including many in my family who have served this great nation of ours while defending our land. Thank you for your service… 🇺🇸🗽🕊️

Moving into today, you’ll see that pic below of when UW got his IC belt back from “ Ravishing Rick Rude” in SummerSlam 90. It was his redemption after losing it in WMV earlier that year because of “ The Weasel” Bobby Heenan’s interference. I won’t call him a brain but Warrior one could also say got his revenge. To me, it can be both. Let’s stick to this scenario in the WWE. Did you miss me talking about wrestling, fans? How about this past WMXL? I can describe Cody Rhodes’s win as redemption AND revenge against Roman reigns. If you follow or watch, you’ll know what I mean. We want and need a positive word like redemption but then with sports in particular, we want that negative word of revenge.

Case in point with it being a little personal for me. 8 years ago, if anyone had been reading my blog or even purchased my book: “ Spirit and Belief,” you may remember this story. I think it was one of the longest in the book actually! My Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team 🏀FINALLY became the NBA champions after beating those Golden State Warriors. I still can’t call them that… They stretched at all 7 games and it was super close. The year before both teams had faced each other for the first time but my Cavs lost in game 6 (on Warrior’s birthday.) The following year they won it all in 7. 2015 could not have repeated! Redemption and revenge all at once. I think the cherry on top for me was when LeBron James stepped off that plane back home in Cleveland wearing an Ultimate Warrior T-shirt. He “claimed” it was his last one in the suitcase but many knew he was a fan when younger. It just so happened that part of UW’s name belongs to that CA team so was that worn by LBJ on purpose? 🤔We will never fully know, but it made me feel pretty ultimate to see that revenge. We shouldn’t be that way but with sports, it comes out in us.

I won’t get political on here ever but feel the need to mention our next President elect~~~ once again Donald Trump. He had been associated with WWE and the McMahon family for years. He even had Linda on his cabinet. Him winning this recent US presidential election also begs the question of what his victory truly is. Redemption or revenge~~~ for a second term, years apart. You can decide that on your own but it’s another example here as it does get “roped” in with talk of WWE and his history with the company. Several WM’s were held at his venues through the years too.

Let’s get back to Warrior for a moment. His return to WWE in 2014 ignited an intense possible reunion. Many expected him to perhaps bash others in the business during his time in NOLA at WMXXX or just to avoid some altogether. He could’ve gotten his revenge for the past in how he was portrayed. Instead, none of that happened at all. He got redemption by surprising most spectators there during his HOF speech and beyond. He evolved in such a way few ever would’ve known or believed to be true. All of the old vengeful acts were behind him and now it was his turn to be redemptive. He always shocked people back in his prime with many actions and still was upon his return to the business that made him a superstar, only in a new way.

How do those two words fit in your life? Can you think of times where both mattered? I’m not condoning revenge in regards to evil of course but just other areas where you felt that desire to maybe “get even” or let them know what it feels like to be on the other side of a situation. Maybe you couldn’t accomplish a goal but then at a later time, you did. That’s good redemption and one you could be proud of. It can just be a personal dream or something similar. We shouldn’t get so bent on hate that we play the “eye for an eye” game and yet many times, that emotion surfaces and we succumb to it. We are human after all and nobody’s perfect. Just be aware and try to course correct if you can for a future time. Don’t expend your energy on what doesn’t matter. Leave that bad karma alone and focus on the good. It’s super hard to do this in some aspects but it’s truly the best and healthier way to be.

Redemption or revenge? Both strong words that are part of our lives. Let’s bring forth more redeeming qualities we can be proud of and leave the revenge part. You will be grateful you did. UW’s matches were “scripted” but I know he felt those words too in his life many times. Warrior opted for the good near the end of his time here. I hope someday I will do the same… 🤍

P.S. Tomorrow marks yet another very memorable day as well. 1992 brought the final match between the Ultimate Maniacs vs Money Inc. on SNME for the tag team belts. I always remember this time not just because it was Warrior’s last appearance for many years but also because I had a very special moment happen to ME that night shortly before the match. I will always remember~~~ although before, I had forgotten. 🤭 🅾️

***That date of November 14 also brings my 2016 memory that is mentioned in my book. 📗 That was when I went to Toys “R” Us and saw some Ultimate Maniacs action figures plus a car with New Mexico plates on my drive home. Warrior lived there for any wondering….The same date with references 24 years apart…Yep, I will always remember those special times too.

“Hi Kathy” of 35 years! 👏🏻💪🏻

You might not know what that saying in the title references, but you will soon. I am not super vain, ha ha! I wanted this month’s “selfie” to be kind of crazy 🤪 but then thought to end my 3️⃣ count. I had done 3 pics with either UW or W in the past and this is my 4th. Oh my goodness, I mentioned the number 4 after all~~~ who would’ve guessed that? The end of August brings up all the past SummerSlams since that was when they were always held. Yes, it is still summer warriors but now we are in the Astro season of Virgo, ♍️ my birth sign. That pic of UW below was from SummerSlam ’89 with its 35th anniversary being TODAY. Yet another milestone on my blog day. With that in mind, I just had to pose with UW winning back the belt from “Ravishing” Rick Rude. Tomorrow, marks the 36th of the very first SummerSlam ’88 when UW won the IC title after HTM’s long reign…

OK, do you wanna know the title reference? Maybe longtime readers will remember. Near the beginning of the match as UW is standing on the ropes acknowledging the crowd, someone holds up a sign. I had mentioned it years ago while almost choking on my lunch! 😯Maybe some of you have seen your name on a sign but me? Never. It’s not common nowadays as most ladies would seem older. There are some words underneath but I could never make them out. I would love to know. So, whoever that other Kathy was (and spelled the same,) she got a shout out at the second biggest PPV then in the WWF (E.) It is right in view along with UW but I had used that pic back in 2019. Yes, I did check.

I also did a little more math as I tend to do sometimes on here. All you guys or gals who were young when you watched WWF, well~~~ it is generational for sure. If you watched and actually remember matches, promos, characters, or any of it from the past, then you’d have to be at least 40~~~ AT LEAST 40 to have those memories. Any younger would not. 43 to possibly remember “Hulkamania!” I am not referring to the early 80s much here, just late 80s. They say we have our earliest memories at around age 3 so UW debuted there in 1987. You can do that easy math. I had just started my senior year in high school (probably anyway) so I was almost 17. To get those spiritual signs several years back and then to see an actual sign on ” The Ultimate Collection” DVD was just amazing to me. 🤭

May and August fly by or should I say RUN 🏃🏻‍♀️ fast for me. It’s a lot with the kids as those months are swamped with so much stuff, I feel like I’m in a wrestling 🤼 match sometimes! Do you have those moments when activities seem the busiest? I bet you do. We are getting a heat spell now after a colder week. Our pool is still open so we aren’t always the ones to automatically close it Labor Day weekend. I talked my husband out of that a few years back. Even though it technically isn’t that holiday weekend here yet, it does make me think of what WAS happening in my family 35 years ago. Just after SummerSlam a few days later, we headed to Michigan for a family reunion on my Dad’s side. It was also to celebrate the early birthday of my Grandma who was turning 75 in October. I have that special evening on tape, but unfortunately it is on VHS. 😕 Such a great memory it was. A few years ago, my youngest aunt just turned that age and HER kids along with the grandkids threw her a big birthday bash too! Almost 35 years in between with her mom, but not quite. 🥳

If old enough readers, can you recall something significant in your life of 35 years ago? Anything that happened would be back in 1989. Hard to believe 1990 will turn 35 next year. 😳 I can imagine many things which takes me back to living in my childhood home and it seems like a lifetime ago. It’s just like I always say, it can be feelings of yesterday and then ages passed all rolled into one. I’m sure you know what I mean as this becomes our emotions on everything. I’m not trying to be a downer or anything but just to think back and reflect on a different time.

I do hope this month has given you special times as well. We take it all in, however it is but I wish you all the good your heart can hold. September will be here soon as that brings my birthday month. I have photos lined up so stay tuned for those. One I just did research on recently as yet more info was sent my way. You’ll read all about it next time. 😉How are we almost done with 2024? Well, when you are crazy busy like I’ve been~~~ it blasts like a rocket all loaded up with fuel! 🚀 A few family milestones are left as I finally find it winding down some. Both kids are getting more adjusted to college as I can breathe a little more easier. This year has been so incredibly packed, there’s no more room in the gear bag!

Happy 35th to SummerSlam ’89 (among all those other events of that year,) but especially any in the WWF (E.) I do still watch some matches or promos and YES~~~ a few in September will be talked about as they connect to me. Enjoy the end of the month and soon fall will be upon us here in my “arena.” College football games are coming too! 🏈Hi 👋to all or any Kathys out there reading. There could be some! Let me know if you are one. I wonder what happened to the girl who was mentioned on the sign? She made history too and she might not even have known it…

P.S. Let’s just not remember WMV of ’89, shall we UW fans? 😬🙄

Turn the Page 📖💚💜

Yes, OK warriors~~~ I DID sing the Bob Seger song in my head when today’s title came to me but it kind of fits for a New Year, don’t you think? We have to keep turning the pages of our “book” because that’s what life is all about. Some of us even have to rewrite an entirely new one over time but one chapter always leads into the next. Don’t panic, this isn’t another post on a book for all of you still absorbing last week’s. No, no, no. This one is a culmination of sorts with all that will be happening in my life during 2024 plus some other wrestling dates mixed in. Oh, and then there’s THIS… My husband and I were walking into Costco’s the other day and “Turn the Page” was playing on the speaker! I have never paid attention to see if music is played in there. I can’t make this stuff up… 😮🤭

This time of year always fills me with nostalgia, as I reflect on those bigger signs which started much on this warrior journey for me. I just celebrated 8️⃣ years of meditation in late December. Not a milestone, but it certainly culminated in bringing forth the DREAMS that began in 2016 and continue today. I often find myself rereading those passages from my book, “Spirit and Belief.I had little signs after Warrior passed (which most of you know) but January 2016 brought a year full of ultimate surprises. Let’s stay within a timeframe if I can here. I read on a few social sites how Jimmy Hart just turned 80! How has he not aged? I wish him so much happiness in that new decade he is beginning. Both of my parents will be joining Jimmy with that age this year. Those are ***BIG*** milestones indeed. 🎉

It will be 10 years in a few days on the 13th since it was announced that the Ultimate Warrior would be part of the 2014 WWE HOF class. (see pic ⬇️) His other dates are coming but I’m not getting into those today. Staying in January, we have the Royal Rumble coming soon. I pay little attention but know enough as previously stated. I just remember years past in the WWF days but CRINGE 😬 moment for 1991. Ah well, then we wouldn’t have had that great match at WMVII between Ultimate Warrior and “Macho King” Randy Savage. Speaking of which, WrestleMania will be turning 40 this year so that is another HUGE event. There’s so many possibilities as fans look to Roman Reigns maybe beating Hulk Hogan’s “reign” as champ soon. I’m thinking that will be around SummerSlam but you never know. Hulkamania also turned 40. I’m feeling old now…… 😳 This year is crazy and it isn’t even halfway through yet. Another sidenote here is (and I’ve done this before) but anything that happened in 1989 was 35 years ago this year. You can think of your life and not just my wrestling dates. This time in 1989 I was a junior in high school! Some of you readers might not have even been born… Of course I am biased to SummerSlam that year when U.W. got back the I.C. Belt from Ravishing Rick Rude. 35 years ago in August. My, oh my.

I’m mixing up the year now so all the pages turned are out of order but wanted to touch on some WWE events first. My family year is another busy one for sure. My son will no longer be a teen in March and my daughter will turn 18 in May. She will graduate high school and begin college in the fall. 🥺Time really does make us turn the page whether we want to or not just like reading a book. I’m reading another goodie, but no mention on here this time…

By November, my husband and I will have known each other 25 years. We met on a blind date and I had to do the math to remember that one but it’s coming. There will be 2️⃣ weddings in my family also. My brother’s second along with one of his daughters, (my niece.) No dates on those but both will be this year. Think I need to catch my breath for a few moments. 😮

Do any of you have a big year with events coming up in 2024? We all do but sometimes it’s nice to have them spread out more, right? Whatever comes your way~ just gear up and be the warrior you need to be. It does make the year go fast when we have much going on but life needs to keep moving. I just don’t want it running by as fast as the Ultimate Warrior did to the ring! Emotional times need to be cherished and I so hope despite my crazy year, I will have those moments to just *BE* which I need to do. Reflections are nice, and we need to pause through them if we can but just don’t buy a ticket to the arena of your past.

I do have the lyrics to “Turn the Page” in front of me as Metallica also recorded that song after Bob Seger years later. If there were others, I’m not sure but I do hear it sometimes during my workout. We are all up on that stage, (wait…that was another dream…) playing star again on the pages of our lives. We might not be in the spotlight like Ultimate Warrior and wrestlers were or are, but we all use every ounce of energy to perform as characters in books written by ourselves.

From January to December~ , it’s a brand new year filled with ups, downs, joys, and sorrows, but live it well instead of just going through the motions. Challenge yourself, even in adversity. Set new goals. Become a new YOU in various ways. You might not have the huge events coming like me but this year of 2024 will never happen again so make it count. It adds up to 8️⃣ so if you’re into it spiritually~~~ all positivity for sure. It is infinity sideways so take that as you will. Turn the page always warriors even though it might be hard. Life is about choices but like I said last week- “It’s your Soul’s chance to be HERE.” … That’s worth repeating. Look back in December and say “I turned the page and truly LIVED this year.” 🤍

P.S. Don’t get me started on a BIG milestone of a certain WM next year!

P.P.S. I DID find my elf pic and Diana doll in the attic cleaning for those wanting to know! Read that post a few weeks back… 🥰

To Take Direction 🥹💙👏🏻

SummerSlam just had another anniversary. 34 years ago was when Ultimate Warrior won BACK the IC Belt from “Ravishing” Rick Rude. I was beginning my senior year just like my daughter is now… No milestone with that number but the age of myself and now my girl sure is… This was another quick thought I had before starting today… So many S.S. dates lately, I should’ve used a pic from one but nope, time to begin..,

Maybe you won’t even notice but maybe you will. I’ll explain to those “perfectionist” types like I tend to be. Down below, you see a pic from Warrior prepping for his big HOF night of 2014. His black jacket looks a little darker because I edited like I sometimes do. Any shot I took had my blinds decorating his jacket. No matter what I tried they were there, so UGH~ had to do my best getting them out. Another point I’d like to make IS a milestone of last week. I’ve been so busy with my kids stuff, I forgot the debut of ***OWN*** as it just turned 25 marking the debut on WCW’s Nitro program. The One Warrior Nation is still going strong…

Having said both of those, let’s get into taking direction today.

My house seems so quiet with just me and the pets but back to a new routine it is… Ever since I had seen that part of the “Always Believe” DVD with Warrior and Vince rehearsing up on stage, it got me feeling a little bittersweet yet again. Vince was directing Warrior on all the stage etiquette of where to stand, here’s the mic, how it’s gonna go, and all that. Warrior’s response was: “Ok,… alright…” It so reminded me of years ago when being the Ultimate Warrior, he took instruction from Vince during promos or even matches. I remember seeing clips from the biography with Vince telling him very similar statements, only some with camera angles or shots. One super vivid with me was when preparing to shoot the contract signing between U.W. and Hulk Hogan for WMVI. What we have probably seen as the finished promo isn’t obviously how it began. U.W. yelling and then saying how the two belts will become one is what we see but of course, after much direction. Vince asked “Jim” for more intensity as he calmly looked a little frustrated (at least to me) while adding: “OK…” It was coming full circle and a little déjà vu mixed in only years later, as both of those topics have been written.

Warrior was still receiving direction from Vince yet again 24 years later just in another way and his response was the same. Obviously an entirely new meaning but taking that type of instruction to make something work. I thought of a few other references here that put a different animated yet funny spin on this topic. One of my favorite Christmas specials is the cartoon “A Charlie Brown Christmas.I LOVE the Peanuts characters and even had bedsheets as a kid but NO~~~ not ready for that season yet! Do any of you know the scene when Charlie Brown becomes the Director of their Christmas play? You probably do. Lucy tries to keep everyone together with a speech by saying: ” You’ve gotta take direction. You’ve got to have discipline. You’ve got to have respect for your Director!” All this while Snoopy imitated her and licked her face. Yep, such a classic indeed as I have it all memorized! Vince was the “Director” with the WWF (E) guys back then like C.B. became the “Director” of his classmates only for differing circumstances for sure.

We do need direction in some areas of our lives, despite some of us resisting what the “boss” may think is right. You have to work together as a group, team, or whatever activity you find yourself in if everyone pulls their weight. If not, you are free to leave. You can still have fun to put on a good show, even a Christmas play or wrestling match. I’ll tag myself in here as I wanted to do this topic but needed my own experience of sorts. Most may know I sang in choir as my kids play instruments in band. Both still have directors and both need that discipline Lucy said almost 60 years ago. I was taught to look at our Director just like my kids. Yes, you need to listen to each other as I recall yet another favorite of mine which has been listed before. Sister Mary Clarence in the movie “Sister Act” (aka Whoopi Goldberg) directs the nuns in their choir and despite Whoopi not actually being a real Director, she plays her part well. She gets those women to work together. Sister Mary Clarence points to her cheeks in one scene before beginning with them as a reminder to smile just like my directors always did. She explains how you really need to listen if you’re going to be a group. Wise advice yet again. They were a church choir but it requires the same disciplines with direction. Another mention of her as I referenced the movie “GHOST” several posts back… What can I say? I love these movies (:

After all these years, I still (YES, I do) watch my kids band directors when they are all performing. OK, absolutely do I watch the musicians, but my eyes find themselves diverting back to the Director for cues as my hands move in similar fashion to myself. Would you expect anything less from this music girl? I get the direction from them as I received years prior from others. Does this happen to you? Yeah, yeah, I know what you’re thinking. Directing kids is different than adults but the mentality of learning is not. Our brains just process what is being taught regardless of our actual age. Do you find yourself ever in a moment when you took direction from another and then are in a moment similar years later? If being a parent, you have for sure based on what your own parents taught you in the past which gets handed down. Some ideas we don’t wanna replicate or redirect onto others and that’s OK too.

Taking direction can seem hard, but there are those more qualified than us who have been in our shoes (or boots) of a few weeks ago. Maybe not like Charlie Brown or Sister Mary Clarence as both were sort of newbies but with Vince, a different venue all together. Some crave direction from others as business demands but then later on we might become the directors of another and use our knowledge to teach. I certainly did as a preschool teacher and then having my own. We all need direction in many ways but need to pass it on well. You may not have sung or played an instrument or probably never wrestled, but be on your OWN stage receiving and giving. It is part of our evolution and what we must do…

P.S. SO, at the very 1st football game a few weeks ago, I happened to be looking into the crowd. I saw this guy wearing that blue U.W. shirt once again! You know, the one LeBron James made so popular! Oh my.., It was almost 2 years ago at my son’s senior night when I saw it last.. 💙🥹Get this— earlier that SAME day- someone in the F.B. U. W. group just received it in the mail and I commented!! Synchronistically lining up yet again….

P.P.S. My sincere condolences go out to the Funk family on the loss of Terry and to the Rotunda family on the loss of Windham ( a.k.a. Bray Wyatt.) Very sad news as we lose yet more beloved, wrestling superstars. 😓😓💔💔

To Walk as Another 👟👢🩵💛

Welcome back to new reading warriors! Well, if you’ve been reading previous posts, I thank you enormously. I guess it’s a welcome back for me then too. Let’s see… 🤔How to get caught up? Wrestling fans know WWE’s annual SummerSlam has happened so we’ll start there. I initially wasn’t planning to use an S.S. related pic of U.W. below but thought to considering the soon to be anniversary. That video was an interview Craig DeGeorge did with the NEW champ until they got interrupted by Jimmy Hart a.k.a. (“the Mouth of the South”) and Honky Tonk Man mad about losing their long held title. Hard to believe that was after the first SummerSlam 3️⃣5️⃣ years ago. I wrote about the 30th… It was technically 36 this year. These milestones yet again. AND, 25 years ago tomorrow marks the Warrior’s debut on WCW’s Nitro show. Another moment to remember.

Speaking of stats, Gunther is STILL WWE’s Intercontinental Champion and is very close to breaking HTM’s long standing record of 454 days. Yep, streaks are meant to be broken and with everything they are doing with Roman, it makes sense. I won’t say for sure, but HTM’s numbers held up all those years until broken by the Ultimate Warrior. Now, it’s Gunther’s turn whether some fans agree or not. I was so used to S.S. being that last week of August, it just crept up on me. I won’t get into all the other results as that is not my topic today…

Let’s move on to this different title of sorts while we walk as another. You’ve heard the expression of walking in another’s shoes but to stick with wrestling gear, we can say boots. I have tried this metaphorically of course as it helps to understand others situations. We may not always agree with what was said or done and cast criticisms around, but look to change the narrative. Would you react or respond in the same way if them? It’s all our free will and choices but until in a very specific circumstance, you can’t fully answer. You probably do KNOW yourself well enough as an adult to realize the limits you won’t break, but do we always? Hmmm… I believe you will say it all depends on what one is going through, right?

I’ll stick to the sport of pro wrestling in particular. Yes, we can and should apply this principle of walking in another’s shoes (or boots) to MANY relationships as it does help with perspective. I’m getting better at this and wrestling is a great example to look at here. Lace up those boots and imagine for just a brief moment that YOU are indeed one of those WWE sports entertainers or SuperStars. It does sound exciting being a character, choosing “face” or “villain,” personal gear, theme music, and all that. There are other working parts too. Like Warrior said: “It is serious. It’s a serious thing to go out there and be a character in the WWE.” He’s right. It can be fun but super risky and you have to be passionate about it for sure. Nobody can take that away from Warrior, ever. Even if you didn’t agree with him at times, you have to admit how his passion ignited the fans to support Ultimate Warrior right from the start.

Boots are hard to fill but if any of you could walk in Warrior’s when he did at THAT time, what would you have done differently? It’s easy for me to type out that question or even to say right away what I would’ve changed. Can I really though? Can you? The pressure is always there within a wrestling business or with our own people in life. Think about walking in another’s shoes for just the day. If you were them, you can make changes but new complications might come your way. Your unique personality and intuition determines how you handle what is thrown at you. I would find myself often imagining thinking of that very idea and honestly, I just can’t answer what I would do until in that moment. Sure, I can make guesses but our emotions take over when we still need that level head too. I’m sure you know people personally who have stressful careers and are faced with huge challenging decisions many times. Take off your shoes and grab another’s. I bet it feels really different in them, doesn’t it?

Social situations will be present our entire lives so we need to be ready when handling them all. Someone else’s tiniest decision can affect us when it shouldn’t but being human, and in our own shoes, it does. The big stuff will bother us more but again, we are not them and they are not us. I know I would make other choices but we still need to respect the ones different from us. To FEEL what they felt, to THINK how they thought, and to DO what they did requires much compassion and grace on our part. Those two words I have used on here plenty. I’m finding it easier to accept when I bring those words into another’s point of view not entirely my own. Those boots might not fit but you can try to see how it is being them and what they were facing. Before you judge, ask yourself to picture what it is like to be the person they are or were. Yes, this can be SO extremely difficult and many times, we don’t want to. You will understand them better as I am learning all the time. I agreed with Warrior on many issues but then other times, I thought differently.

To walk as another involves much from us but sometimes is needed on this journey of ours. We all do life in many ways but need the respect of doing it OUR way. That’s all we want so giving it to others counts too. I hope HTM sees himself back then in Gunther’s boots now. I can only imagine the feelings on his I.C belt streak probably ending. To walk as another and leave a legacy behind. It’s what we come to do.

P.S. U.W. (and Warrior) always walked as himself but as a spirit now, he has a higher perspective.., 😇🙏🏻

P.P.S. You can also look to another and REVERSE roles. Imagine them walking in YOUR shoes. Would they be similar or very different? Just think about that… 🫵🏻❓

Loosen Your Grip 🫴🏻💙🥹

Here we are in May warriors. This year is “running” by fast, isn’t it? You haven’t heard from me during this month since 2021. I took all of May off last year. A few posts of that time were about a dream with Dana and the Ultimate Warrior biography. Hard to believe that was 2 years ago, but we need to be in the now. When I thought of this title~ I thought of a song. Come on, it’s been a while since I’ve mentioned one! Loosen your Grip could also be like “Hold on Loosely” by 38 Special. Yeah, I hear that one a bunch. We keep holding on but never let go. That can be hard, don’t ya think? I guess literally I should’ve loosened my grip years ago from yardwork. I still have some callouses on my hands with those times past of raking leaves and shoveling snow! I’ve eased up on that manual labor as well as my workouts. Can I still do them all the way I used to? You bet I can but let’s just say the pains last longer nowadays. Yes, it makes us stronger but injuries aren’t what they were to my body in the past.

The idea of loosening up some came to me over the course of many months and a brief dream does connect. We’ll get to that in a bit. Most fans know of those many emotional dates in April connected to Warrior~ great, good, and bad but despite my own personal memories of those times, it lessens. I can recall any of them in a split second but the grip is softer now. Never forgotten and never gone but not as intense as before. Don’t worry, Warrior’s intense energy is still very much there 💥 and always will be but in new and different ways. That’s a good thing. Sometimes the waves are strong but other times they roll in much more calmly. I still get those “shaking ropes” of OMG but they are more controlled and relaxed now. It’s not like an old pair of shoes that seem worn out but more like a warm blanket embracing me at the right times. Same emotion, less grip. I’ve been through those heart palpitating moments that once were so scary (for real!) but now it’s endearing times of comfortableness.

We do need to let that extreme grip open up just a little to face what’s next. If you hold on so tight, you’ll never move ahead. It can be frightening warriors but if we don’t, our evolution in this lifetime becomes stalled and nobody wants that. Life will flow so much more your way if you release a little of whatever it is and experience something new. Your happiness becomes more of your purpose if you help to contribute to that great life you deserve to have. We all do. I have struggled in so much but by releasing control of my ever so present grip, it enabled the struggle to dissipate just enough so other great moments could enter. Warrior wants that for ALL of you too. It’s OK to hold onto an idea, project, person, or anything close to our hearts but not where you forget to be YOU and not the grip. I know for me, it’s such a challenge when I want that exact thing to remain constant and yet it never does. My kids didn’t stay little either as they never do. I’ve had to loosen my grip on them but I’m liking these new young adults in my life. See, it’s all OK…

Warrior loosened the grip on some areas in his life but we all know how he needed to in WWE (F) so other ideas could manifest… Here’s a little part of a dream I had which explains the photo below. I have plenty of other pics but it had to be from that 1992 interview before SummerSlam. That outfit he wore was so colorful, it must’ve stuck out for a reason since he had that on in this dream! It took place in a park and I had known him quite a while, since his days of bodybuilding I guess. That seems to be common lately but it’s so nice to get. 🥰 I was waiting for him and he shows up dressed like that from a taping of Superstars! I teased him saying if he’s recognized, he only has himself to blame. 😂 He laughed replying how he didn’t feel like changing but no face paint. I had lunch for us but he proceeds to put his leg up on a park bench very contemplative as we talked first.

He told me ( again- this was July 1992) how he felt the need to leave WWF. Fans can recall how he left in November but this dream depicted it differently. He was becoming frustrated with how things were going and decided to stay until the end of the year only. The grip was starting to loosen once again as it had in the past with wrestling. Warrior wanted to try new things and move on to a different type of career path. That’s exactly what he did end up doing only not from a park bench (: Other goals crossed his mind among personal ones as well and we both shared aspirations. I traveled as part of my career but now was pretty stable so he asked me questions about what I wanted more out of life. We did share some laughs as possible “what if’s” came into view and it was good to imagine while creating the new. I believe we did finally eat lunch but like with most other dreams, no true ending. That is well and good as life needs to be open without always definitive answers. It was a beautiful day outside in this park with blue sky and my favorite white cumulus clouds. 🌤️ No idea on if he was spotted as the Ultimate Warrior or not, but such a reflective dream. Nothing too over the top but now presented in a deeper more meaningful way.

Loosen your grip just a smidge and see what happens. I’m not asking you to freefall if you don’t want to but some of you might! If you hold on too tight, nothing else can ever get in. I know you want that grip on many things but you will know in your heart when it becomes too tight and those callouses form. Like 38 Special sang about: ” Just hold on loosely, but don’t let go. If you cling too tightly, you’re gonna lose control.” Now, I’m singing it! Don’t lose control but know the grip will still be there. It’ll just be more softer as not everything has to be restrictive where you feel suffocated metaphorically. It all won’t go as planned so release the HOW… Relax into yourself as even warriors should. Warrior’s energy I will always grip but not so much where I lose my OWN… 🙏🏻💪🏻🫵🏻

P.S. The series finale of “The Goldbergs” airs tonight on ABC after 10 seasons. I only started watching after my brother told me how they were doing a tribute to the Ultimate Warrior at the end of season 1. So glad I did watch and continued to do so… Many times did I reference this show… “The Cut-out” I blogged 9/29/21. This connected to my favorite episode ever about the boy band N’Sync. Not what you think though!

*** I also blogged “My Pouchie Faith” on 6/13/18 all about George Michael’s song “Faith” and Dana… For some reason, I can’t link them but feel free to read for nostalgia , I did!!!

P.P.S. Many of you have inquired about: http://www.ultimatewarrior.com

~ It seems to have been taken down once again but perhaps might be revamped? I have referenced it many times in the past but am not sure of its status now… If it is no longer available, my apologies but we have memories in other ways… 🤷🏻‍♀️💔

The Show Goes On… 👏🏻☝🏻

You know that expression of “the show must go on” I am sure. So very common indeed. The life of sports entertainment goes on always despite influencers interfering in a match. I mean this metaphorically of course. I also am not referring to anything that could catastrophically happen but possibly other factors. How about if someone in the ring goes off script and turns rogue? Then what? Fans may not know the difference as writers scramble to figure it all out. The show goes on just like life goes on.

Warrior’s life went on after wrestling obviously but many didn’t think so in a way or didn’t truly want to. Some would say his life was nothing without that sport which propelled him into stardom. He would wholeheartedly disagree and make sure his “show”went on in multiple ways. What about you? Does your show go on even though you may have left something behind? That’s life for all of us warriors. We are always moving forward while letting stuff go. Beginnings and endings all at once. It doesn’t have to be a career at all and in fact the every day things seldom are. In order to grow, things need to change or we will be on repeat forever. For some of us, that’s OK but for most, we crave more and need it.

I’ll take this another way. It doesn’t have to be a physicality at all either. If you don’t like your body, your lifestyle needs to change or anything like that. For me~~ it’s more beliefs, attitudes, negative feelings, and others opinions that come to the surface. I can list more but I’m sure you get the point. We want to look and feel better but aren’t always willing to let go during the process. The show goes on as life never stops just because you’re afraid of something. Lately for me, it’s been a whirlwind of changes but I face it all since my show goes on too. I’ve had many physical, emotional, and mental changes to deal with and it becomes all too much at times. To anyone spiritual out there, look up the word “overwhelment” by Abraham Hicks. Yeah, that’s me this past month for sure as it is the last day of August already! How can that be? The show goes on.

I’ve had major life changes for both my kids, milestones, and even some friendly surprises that brought me such “overwhelment” emotion. It’s all there but the show doesn’t roll the credits on our final act until we physically leave. Warrior has a different show up in “parts unknown” as I do know but our lives here still go to the next scene. Maybe it’s a new chapter but it’s your show to write. You really are the writer ya know, ✍🏻 it isn’t just handed to you like maybe what’s given to those WWE performers. We need that slow down time as there are moments. Little by little, the plate gets emptied but it’s when it becomes overfilled when we feel like submitting! Sometimes that happens but there’s always good stuff on that plate too. I hope you take the good stuff in better but it’s all there as our show moves along. Things happen with or without our approval and advice. It’s all in how we handle it and I gotta tell ya~ sometimes I object!

We as parents need to let our babies grow just like they need that independence too but if something bad is pinning you to the mat, see if you can release it. It is hard when it’s something we’ve held onto for so long and some negative habits also can be hard to break. The good of course is much harder to send off but we need to move through our life with grace which will make it easier. That’s one of my words warriors so I ask for it often.

Guess what? I just thought of a song because well, most probably know. 😉 It’s “Life Goes On” by Poison. You can look it up as the lyrics are romantic (which doesn’t apply here) but that title came to me since it’s so true. It’s up to us to keep the show that is our life going and doing it in the best way we can. We will have those heart wrenching times but we need them or life would be static. Who wants that? Yes, some ideas or choices seem so daunting but behind them, there can be good if we allow it all in. I’ve had some good pick me up blessings of late.

Dana and her girls needed their show to go on despite life without Warrior. They didn’t stop living because he did here and we can’t either even as the years progress. He does not want that for anyone. We all know with our lives how events lead to others which could never have been imagined both good or bad. It has to move the way it does whether we agree or not. Relationships are tricky. Some stay, some don’t. We will have it all and be on both sides. We can search for answers but some aren’t for us to know. The part you CAN know is how to best accept your show going on as the performer YOU are. Handle it with grace warriors so you can be ready for the next act on the page. Warrior’s show went on with all of us continuing his legacy in ways he would love.

Keep your show and don’t cancel it just because the storyline isn’t quite right. Nothing is that perfect happy ending without “foreign objects” getting in the way. Battle through those and prove that your warrior show is worth watching. The only ratings that matter are your OWN…

P.S. I used to hate on actual TV shows of seeing the words “to be continuedUGH! Our shows are always continued. Comedy, drama, action, romance, thriller or anything else. You decide on the channel of YOUR life.

P.P.S. 30 years ago TODAY was SummerSlam ’92 in Wembley Stadium, London, England. I knew that date was getting close.. “The Fair” story in my book mentions this match between the Ultimate Warrior and “Macho Man” Randy Savage but as a dream.., 😴 My very 1st spirit visit dream ever and yes, I watched clips and read my ‘lil story in the book.., 💪🏻📗

Words I Can’t Say 🫢🤭😮

Hello warriors! Before I begin today for any wondering– yes, my daughter got her drivers’s license! Whew. 🥳 Another thing crossed off my giant to do list which never seems to end. Such is life. All worth it on this crazy planet of ours for sure. Both kids start school this week. Son at college started Monday and daughter is tomorrow beginning her junior year of high school. Gosh, they have grown. Moving on...

My title of this post isn’t quite accurate but I couldn’t think of a back up one so this is it. Technically, they are words I CAN say but perhaps had or still have a hard time with. Some are funny which is good. They just connect to Warrior or wrestling obviously and are expressions I haven’t really shared before. I haven’t shared that photo of the Ultimate Warrior either as it is the last of the videos I chose. A three count of these past few weeks of course. 😌 This one was about facing the Honky Tonk Man in 1988 before the very first SummerSlam and winning the IC belt. Since I just wrote that word, let’s start with it.

Does anyone remember the 1991 song: ” Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (a.k.a. Will Smith?) Well, I do naturally and do remember most of the lyrics. I would actually have a hard time saying the title as I always think of SummerSlam, right? You can’t see me right now but thinking to say TIME over SLAM was funny then. I’m surprised I haven’t heard that song this summer... 🤔

Which one is next? I think I’ll go with my last addition to this list which by the way, amounted to 6 words or expressions! This one made the list number 6. Just last week, my husband gave me that number 6 for this post so that’s a good stopping point, don’t ya think? He says “Holy Mackerel!” Yes, he does and quite often I might add. Always makes me think of Gorilla Monsoon as that was frequently said by him during his commentary days. I always chuckle since that saying is not said by my generation. Gorilla will be in my thoughts every time I hear it from my guy. He’s not that old but those sayings come out of his mouth... 🤣

OK, I’ll throw in an easy one here which is quite obvious when I think about it. The word clothesline has taken on a whole new meaning after childhood for me. To all you non-wrestling fans, this word was one of the Ultimate Warrior’s signature moves with his character. There are also those actual hung up lines of the past people would put clothes on to dry outside. My Dad rigged one up in our basement as a kid for laundry but outside one was for our swimsuits and towels by the pool. We used trees. I do see some in people’s yards with the actual poles still in the ground. My grandparents house had that but nowadays, for years it’s a wrestling move for me. I bet some kids don’t even know what a wooden close pin is...

The next one I don’t have a hard time with anymore but boy, did I almost 8.5 years ago. It’s the title of one of the WWE shows and with writing about Warrior- fans will know. RAW is the word. I did struggle with it, really I did. Warrior’s last television appearance before he passed was on Monday night RAW so I’m sure you can guess the emotion there. I would say “fresh” for foods like veggies instead of cooked or things similar. I’m better now with that word but it will always hit me differently. We take those memories with us.

These last two connect to WCW’s NITRO show which competed with WWE’s RAW on Monday night for 6 years. I had to look up those dates to be sure. Yep, that number again and how fitting today! Both of these words and phrases concern Warrior’s return to wrestling in August 1998. I’ve mentioned this plenty but how about when he makes his entrance? Tony Schiavone remarks: “it’s the silhouette of a man that we see right now.” Nice, huh? I think of a song because I would. Any guesses? I bet based on those words of Tony’s you can know. “Bohemian Rhapsody” for the win! We all know those lyrics by Queen. “I see a little silhouetto of a man…” I always say little? Every time when I hear that, I do. I did just watch that NITRO clip as the 24th anniversary was last week. The thunderbolts and lightning work well with Warrior in that song too but we’ll stick to the other lyrics. Yep, it’s there for me all the time for both. Are you singing it? I know you are. 🎤🎼

The final one is a word from Warrior himself. Best for last! Quintessential, there’s a word for ya. He was describing “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan as being a: “quintessential influencer” back in the day. Such big words from him but they always worked. At least for me. I hear that word often now and never much did. Always do I stop and ponder while giggling to myself of that word spoken by Warrior those years ago. I used to hear and see ultimate or even warrior everywhere it would seem and now quintessential. There. I’m not using that word again…

Those 6 fun words and phrases I don’t say but always make me smile that seem to come up a lot. I bet you have words too that remind you of a time lost but maybe not forgotten. People do remind us in many ways, don’t they? Sometimes we don’t even realize it at all. With summer ending soon, I get sad. ☹️ Maybe I’ll look up the song “Summertime!” Not SLAM, TIME… I still see clotheslines out too...

P.S. Speaking of SummerSlam, that was a whole month earlier this year. It probably would’ve been this weekend!

The Whole Time 💙🏋🏻‍♂️🤼‍♀️

The WWE just had their annual SummerSlam event which got me thinking. I have never used a photo of the Ultimate Warrior gorilla slamming anyone! There was one time of Sherri on here but he’s only in that pic I took. How could I forget his famous move before the splash? You also see “Ravishing Rick Rude” and the Ultimate Warrior had a few SummerSlams with him. The whole time I was missing a slam pic so here one finally is. Another first once more.

I bet you’ve had some moments of something in your life being there the whole time only you didn’t entirely notice. That could be hard for some of you and of course I have my story but here we go again to the movies 🎥 ! Get your popcorn 🍿 ready warriors since these references really explain the whole time and what it meant for the characters.

*** Spoiler Alert!*** Sorry but I do need to explain so if you haven’t seen “Mrs. Doubtfire” or “The Santa Claus 2,” skip ahead. I bet most of you have so please follow along.

Let’s begin with the 1993 movie “Mrs. Doubtfire.” Oh, so good… It’s the restaurant scene for Miranda’s birthday and Stuart starts choking. From a distance, Daniel as Mrs. Doubtfire sees this and comes to his rescue. While applying the Heimlich maneuver to Stuart, his “mask” begins to peel off. Hey, I did a post similar but anyway, Mrs. Doubtfire is then exposed as Daniel. Shocked, Miranda says:” The whole time, the whole time, the WHOLE time!” 3 times. Yep, she had to leave after that. I loved the scene also when Miranda is having tea with Mrs. Doubtfire and she seems to notice some familiarities. “She” covers the truth but sometimes it starts like that.

The next scene is about “The Santa Clause 2” from 2002. Another great one and my favorite out of the 3. I have referenced the first one and readers may remember a few years back of this movie being in a post. This time though, it’s not the magic of the staff Christmas party gifts. This time, it’s when Charlie shows Lucy who Santa is up close. First she asks:” Uncle Scott?” He looks at her and says: “Do you have any twos?” She replies back:“Go Fish, you ARE Santa, I knew it was you all along!” O.K., not exactly phrasing of the whole time but close enough. Lucy wondered earlier in the movie when she questions if her Uncle Scott is Santa. He seems puzzled but to her, only Santa has reindeer and he brought Comet with him from the North Pole. So, both Miranda and Lucy had some earlier thoughts before knowing for sure it was true the whole time or all along.

Well, if you have some popcorn left, here’s my stories of the whole time. Many may know about my teenage years and such of following the Ultimate Warrior so little did I know back then what would become my now. The Universe as well as my soul both knew the whole time. You may not believe but I always do and will. I often wondered why my emotions ran so deep the whole time and very grateful now to have some answers. I won’t know it all in my lifetime but it’s enough for this Warrior woman. 💜

The whole time relates to one more person. A few months ago, it was brought to my attention that someone who I respect and admire very much had been reading my blog for years— basically since the beginning. We are connected through a mutual friend and he has been around the wrestling business a very long time. I was overwhelmed to find this out and a little part of me was like Sally Field as Miranda: “the WHOLE time!” I can say it 3 times too… One of these days I need to ask if any certain posts stand out to him as being inspirational at all. Yes, there are many to choose from but I am curious. 🤔 Sometimes though there is that part of me that wants to crawl under a rock because of what I wrote but it’s all me. 😬😳Every bit is true.

Despite all these references of mine, I do hope all of you can look at the good experiences now that have been with you the whole time. We can also look to those difficult moments and know how they were guiding us to be stronger the whole time. You may not have specific examples as my movies or a respected avid reader, ( still so cool!) but find out how this life has led to events that make up your whole time. Who are those people cheering you on left unnoticed? Where are those places that have always been a safe haven for you? Hopefully, you can search out those answers that become your life the whole time. Once you find out, your reaction may be one of surprise or pure joy. Let’s hope for the good warriors as the whole time needs to be felt positively.

I’ll always have those feel good movies of mine as you will have yours. I hope also to reach out to my wrestling reader friend more as he has been so gracious with me. 🤞🏻🥰For all of you, find your things that have been with you the whole time. It just might be the unexpected but take it however you can. I will always have Warrior on this spiritual journey the whole time as my soul knew he was there all along…

P.S. Always, right? Well, how about all this! I decided to listen to Warrior while outside on my yoga mat. I put on the video of those who inspired him. About 6 min. ( yep that number) or so in, he mentions burning bridges! Had no idea, would not have remembered. My last week’s post of “Bridging the Gap” ties in with this… He says to “…blow the whole da** thing up, blow it all to H***!” Once you cross a bridge, you don’t want to be tempted to go back for safety. I said “WOW!” out loud in the grass… Don’t revisit the bad..

*** One more thing! The restaurant’s name in “Mrs. Doubtfire” is called BRIDGES…
