Stand Your Ground ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‡

Yes, I have mentioned this plenty of times and of course that guy in the photo did a lot but once again, I got to have a ring side seat. Another dream warriors and I’ll share how it came to be. Recently, I found some WWE A & E documentaries and bios. No, I wasn’t truly looking and watch very little but it was my lunchtime so decided to surf some channels. Lo and behold, I ended up watching bits and pieces of a few. It seemed to be Undertaker as the main event. His biography was just shown but I also caught some of the “Most Wanted Treasures” about Jake Roberts of last year. Despite animosity between him and Warrior back then, I’m always so touched by all the realness and emotion shown by these former wrestlers. You all know this about me now.๏ฟผ

So many people interviewed including Bruce Prichard, a.k.a. (“Brother Love”) other talent, family, archivists, and obviously Vince McMahon. I’m not a fan of Bruce’s even though he is one of the top dogs. I also am NOT getting into the scandal concerning Vince but both guys were in this dream along with Warrior and myself. It took place over at WWE HQ with Vince and Bruce pitching some storyline idea to Warrior. His look was probably late 1990. I was nearby as a “liaison” or so it seemed. Whatever this idea was, Warrior did not agree and stormed out. He was getting really angry as they followed him to the dressing room areas.๏ฟผ

Warrior started waving his arms and then picking up trash cans while throwing them around. Don’t worry– nobody was injured. Vince and Bruce just kept their cool and let him rant and rave. They seemed exasperated and wanted him to calm down so then in steps me. As it played out, I was the only one able to get him to listen and relax a little. Wish I could remember what made Warrior stand his ground but whatever it was, he wasn’t having any of it. I put my hands up and got him to breathe a little easier. This isn’t to “paint” him in a negative light at all~~(plenty of others do that) but I’m sure things like this happened, even without cameras and with others. Vince and Bruce went back to the office as they knew I could work my magic in a way.

I listened to his side while going over all the pros, cons, and compromises this could entail. He looked me straight in the face and said he just could not do what they were asking of him. He stood his ground once again like with many other times. Maybe a similar situation like this actually happened and I was given an inside scoop or something? Well, I’m not sure but I did either grab his hands or put mine on his shoulders. I didn’t want him running off or picking something else up to throw!๏ฟผ

Sorry to keep you all against the ropes but I never found out if he caved just a little or not. Sure hope he wasn’t fired but this next part I do know. Usually during my morning routine, I say the serenity prayer. Words to follow at the end for those unfamiliar. In this dream, I either heard them in my head or said them out loud with Warrior standing there. Hmmm. ๐Ÿค”They were said regardless and Warrior listened to me. So glad I could be of help. No, I wasn’t on the payroll but just very much around and knew Warrior well. Wow, guess a little of those bios came back in my dreaming state. After all, Jake and Paul Bearer (posthumously) were both inducted into the HOF with Warrior and both were part of those A & E shows. Bruce was in a few too. 2014 again. Can you say “goosies” all over my arms and legs? Yep, I can and did.๏ฟผ

It brought to mind when Undertaker’s winning streak came to an end at WrestleMania XXX that same year. First time ever I had seen the crowds reaction– stunned silence with mouths gaping open. Did he stand his ground on this and say: “I want one more win, this year won’t be it for me.” No, he did not and respectfully let the torch pass. There could’ve been many more convos on this but Undertaker obliged. I bet it was extremely hard but was time. Sometimes, it isn’t easy for any of us to do either as it always will depend on those principles too ya know. Warrior did have a right to stand his ground on many things over the years both personally and professionally. We all have to but you need to be the one deciding if it’s worth it or not.๏ฟผ

I actually stand my ground more now when it comes to issues that are about being taken advantage of, being a doormat, or personal days with my family. I even stand my ground with this blog also as we need to be proud of who we are and what we do. Yes, life is about compromise but we all know what we maybe could cave on and what we can’t. That dream contained several messages for me but it isn’t just pride. It can become very exhausting emotionally being kind of like that “liaison” I was in the dream. It isn’t all humbleness and not feeling worthy like it used to be for me at all. OK, I am always humbled but now– more sides have been shown to me and the roles get more intense along the way.๏ฟผ

We do have to stand our ground but need the balance of seeing the bigger perspective if we can. Learning to soften takes time and a whole lotta patience. Warrior may not have caved on important matters but over the years, evolved into better understanding and perhaps bent just a little.๏ฟผ โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

P.S. I believe this is the first time I didn’t use the word DREAM in a post title for these… Gotta keep some mystery going…,๐Ÿฅฑ๐Ÿ˜ดAnd, Vince in a dream was another first too! Bruce? Um– yeah, well it made sense though.., ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜ฌ

*** Here is the Serenity prayer:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.๏ฟผ

*** I do not get very religious on here at all so you can sub out the word God with anything else but that’s the prayer. I always heard it was longer but this is the main part…

My Wrestling Confession

Yes, I do have a wrestling confession to make is it may surprise many of you loyal readers on here. I’m not entirely sure what you could be thinking so I’ll tag you in. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿค”You probably have heard me say countless of times that I don’t watch any wrestling anymore and haven’t regularly since the Ultimate Warrior disappeared from my TV in Nov. of 1992. That pretty much has remained the same despite some little moments here and there. You all can possibly guess what those were all about. I have watched RAW more lately. There, I said it. The big reveal! The whole 3 hours? No. SmackDown or NXT? Not so much but again, some content on occasion. AEW Dynamite isn’t on my list either although Sting being there is awesome! My bro loves Chris Jericho.๏ฟผ

Once in a while, I will be interested in a certain match and might catch a few minutes. I know for most wrestling fans, 3 hours brings so much entertainment and excitement but it seems very loooong to me. Once you get into a storyline or character, I’m sure the time flies but personally that’s even longer than watching a movie! I heard “The Batman” movie is that long but in a theater, I would need more cushion support to sit! ๐Ÿ˜œ I gotta give you WWE fans (or any other organization) credit for watching all that you do.๏ฟผ

I guess after all, I have more to confess. Once WrestleMania XXXVIII ended, I knew videos would be posted. Yes, I looked up all the results but of course some matches intrigued me more than others. Boy, did they top themselves on this one! *** SPOILER ALERT HERE*** I also had to see The Undertaker get inducted. Despite my earlier posts of years past, that character has had an incredible run as the Phenom, Deadman, and of course Taker among other names. Thank you Mark for gifting WWE with over 30 years in the business. How about his hug with Vince? Too sweet… The Ultimate Warrior’s name should’ve been listed at the top since he was Taker’s first big name opponent, just sayin’! Never say never from him. We’ll see what happens.๏ฟผ.. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿชฆโšฑ๏ธโšฐ๏ธ

Speaking of Vince, his win in the ring was a first at a WM and then the encounter with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin making a return. Legendary, just legendary. The Stunner wins again! Hard to believe WM runs two nights but with all those divisions, guess that’s a must. Everyone was talking about Cody Rhodes as well and we can’t ever forget all the amazing women Superstars. I’d stay out of Bianca’s way with all that hair, yikes! Oh, I’ve always loved Roman Reigns too. Oops, I never liked “heels” back in the day but he didn’t start out that way. Another confession.๏ฟผ

Who is this girl going on and on about WWE? Clearly, she isn’t me but maybe this time, she came out to play a little. Does anyone old enough remember the other WWF shows back in the day? We had Superstars on Saturday A.M. at 11, Challenge on Sunday A.M., and then later on Primetime Friday at 10 P.M. I think– at least where I lived anyways. Let’s not forget SNME, The Main Event, and back when they only had a few PPV’s each year. There was just The Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and The Survivor Series. I do recall In Your House and King of the Ring but look at all the many more they do now. RAW used to compete with WCW’s NITRO and I remember WCW being on Saturdays after WWF at noon on a different channel. So, one could watch both if you wanted those two hours. Yep, just an hour each.๏ฟผ

I added up some math here and get this. All 3 WWF (later WWE) shows at an hour a piece equates all 3 hours of RAW now. Crazy, isn’t it? You can watch 7 hours of WWE entertainment each week plus catching up with Peacock or even their Wrestling Network. SmackDown and NXT equally 2 hours each. I bet most of your fans do ALL that but in pure honesty, it’ll never be me.๏ฟผ

Back in my day, an hour actually was enough— emotionally speaking! Unless I was watching SNME which took Saturday Night Live’s time slot being 1.5 hours. I’m not a night owl so staying up until 1 A.M. was always like a submission hold but I’d never tap out! Sometimes, I’d be babysitting until 2 A.M. and couldn’t keep my eyes open. ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ด There were those times like I’ve said before where that hour show became “continued” in a way with a match starting 5 minutes or so before the end! We were just left hanging until next week.๏ฟผ

I believe I’m all done getting caught up lately but still know this. With social media these days, I know what’s going on and with always having my big Bro to let me know “important” stuff, I’m in the wrestling loop. You’ll not catch me watching one of their entire shows but if my WMVI DVD wasn’t skipping over parts, I would watch ALL of that and not just the Ultimate Challenge! That’s what I get for buying a used DVD, ugh… My old school girl self is always there or these warrior writings wouldn’t exist. She has evolved though and appreciates it all. Just think, Vince will be close to 80 when WrestleMania XXXX comes around! That’s only two years away– wow!๏ฟผ

P.S. (Of last week…) I forgot my OWN number 8 connector this year. I got my Warrior logo tattoo on my daughter’s 8th birthday. She’ll be 16 soon.๏ฟผ..

P.P.S. So glad the crowd also acknowledged Triple H! He is an outstanding guy (:

Shock Value Moments ๐Ÿ

There’s a photo I thought to never use. Let me tell ya warriors, I had to pause that video so many times to get the shot. In my head, it was part of a shocking moment for me that involved the Ultimate Warrior and “Snake Man” Jake Roberts. You’ll never see the casket provided by the Undertaker but the snake pic I’ll use. Warrior’s career in the former WWF was very defined by many shock value moments thanks to Vince and his storylines. There were others outside the arena that happened too. Let’s stick to the scripted shows, shall we? Fans will always remember the casket, snakes, and even Papa Shango’s voodoo curse but what about other stuff?

Some may have been shocked seeing the Ultimate Warrior win the IC belt away from Honky Tonk Man or even taking the Heavyweight title from Hulk Hogan. Oh yes, T.V. or writers like to shock us fans and viewers, don’t they? I bet you can think of other wrestlers that gave us shocking stories, upsets, victories, and defeats. It could be a good character turning bad, someone betraying another, and anything else. It’s things we may even still talk about today.

Moving away from wrestling for a moment, how about other T.V. shows or the movies? A couple that stand out for me are “Roseanne” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” I was a huge fan of Roseanne and on the series finale, hearing that Dan had actually died many years prior at Darlene and David’s wedding shocked me. Roseanne had “written” it all up after that since she always wanted to be a writer. I am probably the only person to have never seen “Grey’s Anatomy” but still to this day many talk about Derek’s death or “McDreamy.” I remember being in the PTA years ago and our President would end the meeting earlier because of that show! Am sure you have your shows and their shockers but the movies or any type of media can do that to us as well. Sorry, I didn’t realize both of these involved the death of a character. ๐Ÿ˜ง

I am not that girl to try and figure out a movie’s ending. My husband on the other hand talks and tries to reason it all out. I don’t want to listen when the “good” guy shoots someone else good! He was bad the whole time? I was shocked. Even books do that for me. I had been reading this one author for years and loved his stories of romance on the coast. Well, one book had an ending that shocked me so much, I decided to not read anymore of his. I know this sounds extreme but I wasn’t expecting that book to end the way it did. Yes, all of life can do that from time to time and should but it was my choice to pass his name by in the library. Has that ever happened to any of you readers out there?

With all these shock value moments, I am only referencing entertainment here folks so no personal details in your life which we all have. This also applies to Warrior and I think that had been covered enough lately. You’ll know if you’ve been around a bit. The shock stuff means someone will be stunned or surprised along the way. That someone may be an entire viewing audience or spectators. A good shock for me was when my very own Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA title five years ago from the Golden State Warriors. Yep, that was pure shock in the BEST way and also told in my book Spirit and Belief. That other team’s name mattered to me in a different way and will forever be extra special.

Entertainment pulls us in and keeps us wanting more. I used to hate when a show would be continued and see that on the screen, ugh! Come on!!! WWF did that frequently and left us hanging knowing a match wouldn’t be over in five minutes when the show ended. We do like surprises but when they don’t go in our favor, shock sets in. Of course I was biased when it came to Warrior or even others (yes, it’s true) but our reactions are what they want from us plus ratings. It can be “fun” for some to recall all those moments where we were pulled into and then got the crap shocked out of us. I say fun loosely because I know for me how the casket especially will never make me laugh. I had said before that I was glad Warrior and Undertaker were friends and they had a good time but for a fan like me watching that- nope not ever.

I could list so many more shocking memories of mine and they are never forgotten. Warrior became unforgettable for his many moments over the years that’s for sure and you will have yours. We remember it all because of how it made us feel and then respond. My family still would tell the story of having a snake around my neck at age six. I have no memory of that at all but considering my dislike of snakes, shock value 101! I had mentioned this story on here years ago๏ฟผ๏ฟผ… We all have our stories of shock but let’s stick to just being entertained. Our real life will be waiting later.

The Ultimate Bad Guy? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I often times wondered how I’d feel if the Ultimate Warrior was a bad guy and if he would’ve influenced me the same way? He always said that his character was good who got away with being bad. You know– the screaming, running, shaking ropes, crazy interviews, snarling, “not following rules,” and everything in between.

But here’s my question again since I never liked the bad guys. Hardly ever anyway. There were those times that bad guy went against bad guy and it was hard to choose. I’d always go for the one who seemed a little better (or nicer!) in my mind but really– it was neither.

I am so grateful that U.W. was never a character that flip-flopped like many did. In his early years, he went from good to bad and then bad to good. We had the Freedom Fighters (tag team with Sting) — good, Blade Runners (also with Sting) –bad, Dingo Warrior (bad then good), and then of course the Ultimate Warrior (good!) I never even cared that much about any of the talent bad guy characters brought since my mind was stuck on BAD and that was it.

I can name so many performers back then during my years watching where it became hard to follow if they were bad or good! Yes- good drama, action filled storylines, and more ratings but for me– too much emotion. As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t do well with shock value although that does matter very much in entertainment. Once a bad guy for me, always a bad guy. It did also change when some formed a tag team like the Ultimate Maniacs. I just had to mention them! Randy Savage was always a bad guy but with U.W., he was good. Am sure fans will remember when Andre the Giant turned good after WrestleMania VI? Of course I’d remember that, guess I’m a little biased! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Who can tell me how many times the Undertaker flip-flopped? Well, for anyone who knows my previous stories– he will always be bad to me! Even if I watched today, his bad status will remain. That old school mentality of mine never really goes away. I know WWE does this today as well and it confuses me!! Once a fan of someone’s you always are so maybe good or bad makes no difference. Does it to some of you?

I can only imagine my feelings had it been that way with the Ultimate Warrior. Deep down, I know I’d feel the same but wouldn’t have liked him bad. Not too sure Warrior’s “beliefs” would’ve resonated the same as a bad guy. O.K.– some of the “gods” up above were bad but his core disciplines, all good. Rick Rude was a good looking guy but I would NEVER admit that. He was bad and off limits to my teenage self!

I always did hear that many of them started bad like Hulk Hogan since being bad gave you a faster push in the business. I wonder why that is? Do most people like bad better? Maybe they get all the “cool” storylines but not always. Good is supposed to triumph over evil, right? I’m a “good” girl so maybe that explains it. I can be “bad” when I want though!

Besides the “Hulkster,” the Ultimate Warrior was the only other top good guy. There were others, I KNOW but popularity matters. The fans back in the day made the Dingo Warrior good because of his resemblance to Kerry Von Erich. Thank you fans for that longevity! So many aspects drew me to the U.W. character and several qualities were better suited to a good guy, not bad. Just my opinion but then again, it becomes a toss-up. Some bad characters could pull off their jargon and catch phrases as good too. Hmmm… ๐Ÿค” Such a dilemma. Good or bad– it doesn’t really matter but so interesting to think about. Once someone became that character, it was a big part of them like their twin in a way.

I’m certain that if there happened to be a storyline where U.W. would’ve gone “rogue,” and turned from good to bad, I’d be devastated. Of course that never came to be and honestly, I don’t believe he’d ever go for it at all. Loyalty makes a difference and I know his fans deserved that in return. I realize it’s completely different today but maybe some lose fans if they switch? Women included. Guess you can always gain new ones but I feel it isn’t the same. I’d personally hate being booed but sometimes that’s the way it goes.

I thank Warrior for always being the Ultimate GOOD guy despite critics. Negativity and naysayers sometimes but deep down, his integrity made him good. Whether in or out of the ring, he lived his life dedicated to true beliefs. To me, that’s the ultimate good guy who I will always root for… ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Happy Undertaker Halloween! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ˜ณโ˜ ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Happy Halloween Warrior fans! I had planned on using a photo from the June 2, 1991 Body Bag Match between the Ultimate Warrior vs. the Undertaker but then saw these masks! This was a much better choice for me since really, I didn’t want to use that match of Warrior being paralyzed or put in a body bag at the end..๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Let’s back up a few years with some funny Undertaker moments. I decided to wait until Halloween since well, I think you probably know why! At first, the Undertaker was never a person I would choose to write about as previously mentioned but hey– it’s all good now and they were friends.

A year or so after Warrior passed, my son panicked about not having a current library book to use at school. He had finished his first one and needed another for tomorrow, ugh! Last minute doesn’t work with this Mama… Off to the library we went and started browsing the stacks. Once again, a library moment but I’ll take it.

He was on one end and I wandered off a little next to him. My eyes were intent on finding this series or author he liked but then my gaze turned upward. Right in front of me standing straight up on this shelf was a biography in the kids section of WWE’s Undertaker! That character always brings up bad memories for me but for the first time ever, I smiled and thought of all the library stuff I had seen since Warrior’s passing. Another right place, right time moment.

I did open it up which many years ago would never have given a second look. I took a photo and sent it to my brother with the same caption used frequently back then: “I can’t go anywhere!” It was a funny yet frenzied and unexpected library time.

The next Undertaker moment came after I purchased the “Ultimate Collection” DVD and it has an interesting twist only recently noticed. When I bought the DVD of course it had to be new without any previous views. It had never been opened or watched before so I was set.

Some parts were skipped like you-know-who but also WMVI among a few others I had seen bunches or had on VHS already. The day came when I decided to finally watch those parts just to see it all thru to the end. I got to that match between U.W. and U.T. and about halfway into the “snoozefest” (it really was!) the DVD started skipping. You know what I mean right? That happens after a while when you watch something over and over but this was new!

Somebody up there knows my feelings about U.T. so– come to your own conclusion… ๐Ÿคฃ Guess I wasn’t supposed to watch that whole match as it skipped thru most of it. I couldn’t believe this while just laughing so hard to myself. I had never even watched that before, ever… Those electronic devices sure are tricky! Very little times would anyone catch me watching that match or even the Funeral Parlor before it on the DVD. I do love Randy and Roddy’s commentary since they save me! ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

So, let’s move ahead to now and just a few weeks ago. Decided to see if indeed the “skipping part” was still there but before I even got to the match– the Funeral Parlor part was skipping! โšฐ๏ธ Whaaat??? I barely have watched that but hey, fine by me! I did go ahead to the match and it wasn’t skipping at all. Now, it’s the Parlor’s turn, hmm…. Remember the “Lights on, Lights off” post relating to Undertaker? Could these both have some funny Warrior energy attached to them? It sure makes me laugh since he knows my stories now.

Going back to early October, my husband, daughter, and I were at the Halloween store. I saw these U.T. masks. Your thoughts really do manifest sometimes. I was actually thinking of my next blog post while there… Um, why??? I didn’t want to use a match photo and then I saw the masks! Problem solved yet again. When I went to put one back after looking at it, the plastic hook broke– figures….

Have a FUN yet SOOOKY Halloween, maybe I’ll see someone with an Undertaker mask on! Just no hearing GONG music… ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ’ฉ

P.S. Nothing else has ever skipped on the DVD, ever.., ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
