The History Term Paper

Did you fans actually think I wrote a Term Paper on the Ultimate Warrior? LOL! Can you just imagine? 😳😬 Maybe if it was a biography or something but um… no. This story arose from another “flashback” of mine more suited for next year. It concerns Wrestlemania VI so 2020 will mark its 30th anniversary. That’s also when I graduated high school. I probably wouldn’t let it out of my memory bank but needed some funny back after these last few weeks. Not gonna wait ’til next year after all!

For my U.S. History class, our term paper near the end of senior year was on the Great Depression. We had weeks of course to stay on track with prep work. The whole nine yards really. Finding sources, having a Table of Contents, notecards, bibliographies, and all that for a timeline. The teacher gave us more specific topics to help as a guide. Do you think I picked from that list? Nope, not at all.

I wanted to be even more specific with how the Great Depression affected family life. The economy or government stuff didn’t interest me like the personal connections did. Makes sense to me now. I asked the teacher about this and she agreed to my idea but advised on lack of references. This didn’t stop me! Remember– no true internet then so you had to rely on books, magazines, (or “periodicals,”) and the good old fashioned Microfiche machine. Remember that? You could access newspapers so YES even in 1990 that still existed for research.

How is this connected to Warrior? Well, here comes his part in all this. One night I ventured out to the library. Warrior would love that. It was time for some serious work without the distractions of home. This was just around the time after WMVI so distractions in yet another ultimate way! Despite that, the library was upon me. I remember vividly going downstairs to the basement where all the reference areas were.

After a bit of time, I needed to find some “periodicals” and that back space was huge! I actually can’t remember the details (I know, right?) but for some reason ended up in the “W” section. I really was back there for my story– no joke! Guess what I saw? You’re looking at it up above. That was not the latest issue of the WWF magazine but the Ultimate Warrior just happened to be in the front. He did appear on two covers in 1990, June and Nov. but I was there in April. My report got side-tracked as I picked up the magazine and sat on the floor reading it! Why didn’t I just check it out with all my other materials? Couldn’t do that…

I did finally find what was needed for my report but ended up arriving home a little later than expected. Guess that “research” took longer– HA-HA! This goes along with my newer catchphrase of “I Can’t Go Anywhere.” Even back then. Do any of you remember my post on “Stand Up, Stand Out, Deliver?” The teacher who gave me a bad grade on a report was this experience.

I worked my A_ _ off on that report and got too many corrections from her without merit. She did raise my grade and gave me 3 out of 5 points proved. I stood up and THAT’S being a warrior. The history part he would also love. I always did the work and continue doing the work everyday. I hope you do too. That report was kept for a bit but then I grew tired of knowing her red marked corrections didn’t define it. It was tossed but my library adventure in the “periodical” section never would be.

This was a few years before I really did buy my first wrestling magazine. It has been blogged and also mentioned in my book Spirit and Belief. I will always have my Great Depression term paper story which connects Warrior and me. Five years ago was another time of depression but we are past those posts….. History, a library, and a magazine all involved the Ultimate Warrior then which gave me a great April memory. Not to mention WMVI of course!

I guess thanks need to be given to that teacher who brought out more of my warrior self. She still battles on today as a warrior woman to the core.💪🏻💖👏🏻👍

The Introverted Warrior

Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Believe it or not, most people exhibit both qualities but let’s take a look at the one in the title.

I am NOT listing synonyms of being introverted since many I dislike but AM sharing some traits. They are:

~~ internal, introspective, enjoy solitude, have a strong sense of self, different views, don’t like small talk, need time alone to recharge energy, and like to think.

Quite the list, isn’t it?

Often times they are misunderstood and struggle to become accepted socially. WE do not have constant social anxiety or extreme shyness. So many misconceptions, so little time.

Let’s take a look at that other word in my title. Do you fans know that Warrior (aka The Ultimate Warrior) was really an introvert? Yep, he has said so in many videos and on The Ultimate Collection DVD. I am too. Here’s another connection between us both. Many of those above traits describe him as well as myself. It’s not so negative but is often viewed as such in society.

He wrote. I write and even published a book! So extremely honored to be included with these fellow authors at the library (which Warrior also loved.) Perhaps most introverts do write, that’s easy for us. Dana has also called herself an introvert and she writes as well. To get out there and sell a book or even a character like he did is very extroverted. I must say that most folks I know are SHOCKED to see my published book but then of course excited too. Is it because of the task? I don’t believe so. I believe it’s because of the nature of my personality that shocks them.

Warrior was told in high school that he “wouldn’t succeed” much in life. Wow… I think he proved them wrong! Once us introverts have a strong passion, we go for it despite the cultural label. Many people I associate with also can’t believe how s_ _ I was in school. Sorry, dislike that word! You can probably guess…

It’s all about the adult you become by following and believing in your purpose. Many of Warrior’s competitors back then didn’t understand his ways considering the character was so extroverted. Deep down he wasn’t. Still intense– yes, but an introverted thinker.

I hope if you are an extrovert reading this, you don’t misunderstand my post but if you do, that’s your right. I’m not bashing a more outgoing personality as I know many whose qualities are very admirable. Just am adding more of that myth busting I do so well! Also, to always educate so we all can let go of assumptions is the real way to be. Don’t be the first three letters of that word!! 😉

The title of this post is me just like the man since us warriors stick together. Introverts LIKE people, really. Sometimes we might not be up for that big party and would much rather stay home. Please don’t misinterpret that message as many do. It’s not that we don’t want to go anywhere so no taking things personally.

I can’t fully imagine how it was for Warrior back then but yet again, he never ever strayed from his core self and I don’t either. O.K., sometimes I do but not that often anymore. If you feel this way as an introvert, don’t let it consume you. We can’t people please and really shouldn’t. All of us judge based on the most silliest of reasons, including me.

Remember to focus on being better while still OWNing yourself everyday. Be better~~ not bitter. I never ever thought that being an introvert meant I couldn’t get a book published. It did hold me back from other things when I was younger though. My book Spirit and Belief has a chapter on removing labels and without them, we all could be kinder.

Whether or not you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert, just know that as people we all want and need acceptance. That’s it. I could go on and on about my struggles with this but the present is now. I was very surprised when I heard more about Warrior’s past but it really explains so much of him and why he never gave up.

We do need to be challenged but shouldn’t have to prove ourselves in order to be accepted. Our personalities do mold us but they don’t need to define us. I have some extroverted aspects but I use them for myself and not to spite others. Introvert, extrovert, whatever.. Just be YOU and let others be THEM.

Happy Undertaker Halloween! 🎃😳☠️👻😈

Happy Halloween Warrior fans! I had planned on using a photo from the June 2, 1991 Body Bag Match between the Ultimate Warrior vs. the Undertaker but then saw these masks! This was a much better choice for me since really, I didn’t want to use that match of Warrior being paralyzed or put in a body bag at the end..😮

Let’s back up a few years with some funny Undertaker moments. I decided to wait until Halloween since well, I think you probably know why! At first, the Undertaker was never a person I would choose to write about as previously mentioned but hey– it’s all good now and they were friends.

A year or so after Warrior passed, my son panicked about not having a current library book to use at school. He had finished his first one and needed another for tomorrow, ugh! Last minute doesn’t work with this Mama… Off to the library we went and started browsing the stacks. Once again, a library moment but I’ll take it.

He was on one end and I wandered off a little next to him. My eyes were intent on finding this series or author he liked but then my gaze turned upward. Right in front of me standing straight up on this shelf was a biography in the kids section of WWE’s Undertaker! That character always brings up bad memories for me but for the first time ever, I smiled and thought of all the library stuff I had seen since Warrior’s passing. Another right place, right time moment.

I did open it up which many years ago would never have given a second look. I took a photo and sent it to my brother with the same caption used frequently back then: “I can’t go anywhere!” It was a funny yet frenzied and unexpected library time.

The next Undertaker moment came after I purchased the “Ultimate Collection” DVD and it has an interesting twist only recently noticed. When I bought the DVD of course it had to be new without any previous views. It had never been opened or watched before so I was set.

Some parts were skipped like you-know-who but also WMVI among a few others I had seen bunches or had on VHS already. The day came when I decided to finally watch those parts just to see it all thru to the end. I got to that match between U.W. and U.T. and about halfway into the “snoozefest” (it really was!) the DVD started skipping. You know what I mean right? That happens after a while when you watch something over and over but this was new!

Somebody up there knows my feelings about U.T. so– come to your own conclusion… 🤣 Guess I wasn’t supposed to watch that whole match as it skipped thru most of it. I couldn’t believe this while just laughing so hard to myself. I had never even watched that before, ever… Those electronic devices sure are tricky! Very little times would anyone catch me watching that match or even the Funeral Parlor before it on the DVD. I do love Randy and Roddy’s commentary since they save me! 😜😬

So, let’s move ahead to now and just a few weeks ago. Decided to see if indeed the “skipping part” was still there but before I even got to the match– the Funeral Parlor part was skipping! ⚰️ Whaaat??? I barely have watched that but hey, fine by me! I did go ahead to the match and it wasn’t skipping at all. Now, it’s the Parlor’s turn, hmm…. Remember the “Lights on, Lights off” post relating to Undertaker? Could these both have some funny Warrior energy attached to them? It sure makes me laugh since he knows my stories now.

Going back to early October, my husband, daughter, and I were at the Halloween store. I saw these U.T. masks. Your thoughts really do manifest sometimes. I was actually thinking of my next blog post while there… Um, why??? I didn’t want to use a match photo and then I saw the masks! Problem solved yet again. When I went to put one back after looking at it, the plastic hook broke– figures….

Have a FUN yet SOOOKY Halloween, maybe I’ll see someone with an Undertaker mask on! Just no hearing GONG music… 🙄💩

P.S. Nothing else has ever skipped on the DVD, ever.., 😱

P.P.S. SO EXCITED to share the link for my RADIO show interview with Kate Delaney of America Tonight! You need to scroll down to October 10th, hour 2. I am at the 27:11 mark, 12 min. long.

Speak Your Truth Warriors!

This past week brought so many wonderful experiences that I wanted to share with everyone. I was so excited to talk with Kate Delaney who is the host of the nationally syndicated radio show America Tonight of LibertyTalkFM. It was such a pleasure and so much fun speaking while sharing insight on intuition and my experiences with Warrior in spirit. What a truly incredible time and I wasn’t nervous at all! Once I get the link, I’ll post but feel free to access if interested. We also have an OHIO connection so very cool!

I also received a copy of the podcast interview with Mary of Harmonic Journeys. We discussed Warrior of course, my book Spirit and Belief, but also how to start a blog, YouTube channel, and connecting to spirit. It’s almost 40 minutes and available thru their website at podcasts. The link is below this post. Mary was so warm and inviting it warmed my heart. She even complemented me which was so humbling.

The last big event of the week was an Author’s Library Showcase at which I was a vendor. It was such a great group of authors with different genres represented. The woman next to me wrote a children’s mystery book and I found out she also has psychic interests. She totally reminded me of my aunt who passed a few months ago… I truly believe we were meant to be sat next to each other. She bought my book and was fascinated with the story. What a delight and I enjoyed our time together. She told me things she never shared with anyone as her husband passed a few years ago. We will be keeping in touch and what a great connection for us both. I had to laugh as her husband’s name is Steve! Wow, let’s see…. Steve Borden (Sting,) Steve Wilton (Warrior’s manager,) and I have a Steve who has left me comments!

*** Also, their last name is Perry and he used to tell people he was THE Steve Perry of Journey! They even had sleeves they made with “Don’t Stop Believin!” on the side… Synchronicity strikes again!!!

By speaking your truth, connections happen. Book sales are tough but relationships matter more. I must say though that my cover ALWAYS gets complemented so thank you Warrior!

Keep using your voice to be that warrior you were meant to be. It Does Matter as he said MANY times! Your words have power and you never know how much until your impact is felt or vice versa. Let’s make a difference as warriors together. Our truth DOES matter…

Spirit and Belief News!

It’s my birthday so wanted this post to be all about the exciting events happening with my book Spirit and Belief! #thankyouWarrior

I was interviewed last night by my spiritual group — Harmonic Journeys for their podcast. I thank Mary for her friendship, support, and the conversation. Can’t wait to have it posted on here for all of you to listen! I shared my journey of spiritual gifts, Warrior stories, and where to find me. It was a great time (: I will post their link below if anyone is interested in them or the podcasts.

That was great practice for another interview I have coming soon for a nationally syndicated radio show! I was contacted by LitFire Publishing to participate in some marketing ideas for my book so am thrilled to share and educate all I can. Kate Delaney of America Tonight will be conducting the interview and I’ll post her info and bio below as well. She has interviewed people in sports, politics, (she spoke with Jesse Ventura about politics!) news, celebrities, and she is an author herself. Once that comes out, I’ll have it available and would love your feedback Warrior fans!

I am also participating in another Author Library Conference in October. This time, instead of a small table discussion with another author– there will be over 50! Very excited to converse with fellow writers and aspiring authors while sharing my spiritual journey. Who knows? Maybe I’ll get some Warrior “vibes” that day like last time!!!

What’s going on with YOU Warrior fans? I would love to hear your stories, fan memories, if you feel him spiritually, or anything you’d like to share. I know it takes guts to leave a comment but we’re all fans so no pressure! I just love hearing how he inspired others too besides me so FEEL FREE, no judging here. You can also connect with me on my YouTube page, amazon, or I do have an Amazon Author Page that is up and running. My other blog is linked to that but info for the book is available there too.

I wish you all great ultimate success with whatever you are working on in your life and continue crushing those goals! Mr. Warrior would want nothing less of you so do the work everyday. Let me know your Ultimate Warrior memories, come on— I KNOW you all have plenty!
