Veteran’s Day Thanks πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ( and 200 πŸ’™)

Veteran’s Day falls on Wednesday of 2020 this year so that inspired me to write about this National Day of Remembrance here in the U.S.A. Another side note is that today also marks the 200th post of these writings. I never count random “tests” WordPress reminds me of from the past. I count the actual ideas that get written so this post of Veteran’s Day becomes number 200. Warrior would be proud and IS!

I salute and honor every veteran who has served in our country’s armed forces. I have many family members dedicated to protecting the freedoms we cherish. It is indeed such an ultimate sacrifice putting one’s life at risk while defending our flag and all it stands for. My own brother proudly served in both the Navy and Coast Guard. Two of his daughters while still in high school are part of the ROTC as are two second cousins of mine. They both have Army Vets as parents. Two of my cousins husbands served in the military and one had his two sons serving as well. Two seems to be the number in my family (: My ex-brother-in-law is still with the Marines in some capacity while my deceased father-in-law enlisted in the Air National Guard during his younger days.

Not all will put their lives on the line like a soldier but they still contribute in many ways. Both Warrior and his wife Dana supported our military vets and championed their dedication to our country. WWE has done much over the years in organizations alongside our war heroes and continue doing so. Dana as an Ambassador traveled all over the country representing the WWE while raising awareness for Veterans causes. Warrior proudly displayed a flag in their family home while Dana continued teaching their girls about respect for our country’s heroes. Not only would they thank them for humbled service but buy meals around their hometown. Schools over here have Veteran’s Day ceremonies as decorations adorn the hallways. Our city usually has a service as well.

I can sorta compare the military to wrestling. Give me a chance for a brief moment here. They both involve travel, possible combat, and one needs to become very disciplined to achieve status. Also, when both retire, they are called veterans. Both also see the word hero used in their presence but we all know the true heroes are our veterans of the military. I have known or know people in every branch of the military whether it be the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard. Not to forget the Reserves…

Think of all the wars our great country has faced. Let’s hope there aren’t any more in our nation’s future. Think also about all those brave men and women willing to stand up against an enemy just to protect us. The numbers are staggering. The first war where women were in combat was the Gulf War of 1991. Prior to that, they were just nurses serving the wounded or dying but not physically on the battleground with the men. That actually brings me to another commonality with wrestling. We all know how far women have come in sports entertainment. Women in the military have also made great accomplishments while serving next to the men in battle.

Some confuse this day with Memorial Day. That is when we remember those lives lost during war but Veteran’s honors those that have served while still living. If you know of someone, ask to hear their stories. Especially an older vet who will take you back in time to their younger years of great service. Just like my post of last week, that heart of humility cannot be replaced. Thanking them doesn’t seem to be enough.

Whatever branch of military you favor, they all serve the same purpose of protecting our land, seas, air, and freedom. Gone are the days of the draft but there will still be naysayers against what the military stands for. No, I don’t condone war and possible lives lost but we do need to protect our borders when needed.

Most of us will think of this day as any other. It will come and go just like a typical Wednesday. Perhaps this Veteran’s Day of November 11, 2020, you can make it a little more memorable. Thank any vets in your life separately. Pray for them, thank them for service and our freedom, or just reflect on what it means to live in a FREE country. Many others don’t have all that we take for granted here. We have those rights and privileges because of our United States veterans that proudly fought for them.

*** Remember, Honor, Salute, and THANK ALL Veterans and those to come for being so BRAVE as an American.

“… with Liberty and Justice for all.”

P.S. Today is 11-11, such powerful numbers. This post is dedicated to all those vets who have been severely injured or affected in many ways by their years of service. We are forever in your gratitude as thoughts and prayers are sent to you always. πŸ™πŸ»Thank you to all those ultimate survivors!

Desire to Inspire βš‘οΈπŸ’«

When thinking of this week’s title πŸ€”, I was reminded of a mantra from my journal in June. “Desire to Inspire” has a great bell ring (ding, ding, ding…) doesn’t it? You have to believe it though… Warrior said over and over again how he truly wanted to inspire, motivate, and educate others. He continued searching for ways to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Isn’t that what we all should do too?

Whether one liked or disliked the Ultimate Warrior character, he did become quite the inspiration for so many with his confidence, discipline, and beliefs. We need to look at the WHY of inspiration. Like I’ve said before, you look for inspiration but be that for others as well. Most won’t flock to T.V. as a way for inspiration but we can notice those little things everyday.

Three people have stood out for me personally as being inspirational lately. It’s not always our words but also actions and a desire for the good. Earlier this year, two inspiring souls reached out to me through my website and email. I will keep their names private but they contacted me personally as we shared common interests.

I had a phone conversation with this woman about celebrities or famous people in spirit. We bonded over our experiences while offering advice. She also read my book Spirit and Belief and loved the stories! We both especially referenced The Mysterious Batteries. πŸ˜‰ She truly was an inspiration having enough guts reaching out to a stranger. We had many similarities yet differences which connected our beliefs and abilities.

The second connection was from someone who is a bodybuilder and found a few of Warrior’s YouTube videos. He had no idea that man was the same person he idolized as a child back in the WWF days. He shared details while complementing Warrior on being HIS inspiration. Both people thanked me for being the voice they are intimidated to be on their own. We all have that desire to inspire and it’s a wonderful gift expressing however it suits you.

There are so many ways to look at inspiration. It’s all communication in any form. The Ultimate Warrior had his loud, intense way but perhaps that approach isn’t quite you. Writing works for me but again, your choice.

Face to face discussions are the best of course but that might be difficult for some. Do you work best with phone calls, email, text, or other social media outlets? I love making YouTube videos but that can be a challenge at times. The desire needs to be there. We also need to practice listening with inspiration as that is a two-way street. Even though both of those individuals I had not met, I listened and then responded humbly. They both contacted me so the desire became about respect along with that inspiration.

The third person was a totally different experience. My husband was in the process of selling his mother’s home near her passing and took this big task on. After a time of some interest, he was contacted by a mutual friend thru Facebook. His brothers and he were struggling and I just sent out an S.O.S. to the Universe for patience and guidance. Lo and behold, it delivered.

This man we found out later is indeed a Joe of all trades. His name is Joe and besides being a realtor, had done many other jobs. When carpet got wet, he replaced it for a smaller fee than a company and even went above and beyond to help these boys out. His own brothers knew my husband in high school so there was a connection…

Here’s the part some of you will love. He used to be a pro-wrestler!!! I did get to meet him as those goose bumps filled my arms and legs. Hello Warrior. πŸ’™ Joe was in the NWA and wrestled under the name Vladimir Markov. Yep, they made him Russian! Look him up for more info… Pretty cool, huh? He knew of the Ultimate Warrior and many other names I mentioned. My husband told him how I talked with Dana Warrior on her podcast! It was so thrilling(: Later on, my husband said how Joe was a Godsend as I KNOW someone up there likes us and sent help. πŸ™πŸ» Joe was such an inspiration helping out without huge demands and being so understanding with our needs.

My three count again even without Warrior on this list. Desire to Inspire and look to the real reasons of intent.

Be a voice but encourage another to use theirs.

Get noticed but notice others as well.

Maybe you yell, email, or sell houses but whatever your task, just have true desire. The inspiration will come. Find your WHY always…

P.S. A few of Warrior’s YouTube videos are called: “Injections of Inspiration.” How about that?

The Strength of Dads

With Warrior’s birthday having just been yesterday,( on a Tuesday… that day again) I had to talk about all you Dads out there. Father’s Day is in a few days so the strength of Dads can be measured in many ways. I’ve mentioned International Women’s Day a few years back and have never done just a Mother’s Day post so maybe next year…

That photo you see is of course me and my Dad taken around the time I was 2 or 3. Not sure where we were but I was Daddy’s Little Girl back then. There came a time when we were distant but years later, discovered our love of writing. We are closer now as I am grateful to never have suffered abuse or neglect. My Dad was a yeller and it did get kinda bad but he never abandoned us like Warrior’s Dad or never verbally abused us to the point of shame like Dana’s.

Dads aren’t perfect just like Moms aren’t. Warrior was the Ultimate Dad to his two daughters who are now grown women. He had his faults too but Dana has said how much he adored those girls like nothing else. Despite being a celebrity, he put together a Barbie Dream house, attended all their events, and was just Dad to them– not the Ultimate Warrior.

The silliness of Dads can be very different than that of Moms. My husband would play the cutest games with our kids that only was for all three of them together. I never wanted to interfere as it was so comical watching after Mommy playing all day. There was “Roofball,” “Sitting Game,” and Truck Races down the driveway. Dads are even the ones to toss kids up in the air more or in the pool! None of these games were competitive like a sport, just simple silly fun. 😜

So many qualities make someone a Dad. Just like with my Hero post last week, the need to be brave is always for their kids. WWE mourned the tragic and sad loss of Shad Gaspard as he sacrificed his own life for his son’s. He truly was the epitome of the most heroic Dad. We don’t realize until becoming adults that despite setbacks, Dads do the best they can. I mean those Dads who are present and active in their children’s lives but don’t always get it quite right even as they age.

It is about more than just a roof over your head or food on the table. Dads of years ago were feared or the punishers. That’s not how it should be and I am thankful times have changed. At least I hope they have for most. Kids won’t remember every little detail as grown-ups but they will know the love behind every effort and all the fun.

To those of you who are not Dads, that’s o.k. Maybe you are a male adult in someone’s younger life and you do matter. We all do– just in different aspects. If you are one, just show up for your kids in ways they’ll remember that’s good. Life is too short to not have happy memories.

Every family is unique with its contributing members. Warrior created his own family crest, creed, and code of honor. What an incredible legacy leaving behind for his girls to carry on. Some may disagree but for someone as bold as he was, it fit– ultimately! Guys reading this, think about what it truly does take to have that strength of a Dad. It could be yourself, your own Dad, Grandfather, or anyone earning that title without a belt. Biology doesn’t necessarily equate with being Dad material. Remember also, strength is not always physical but it comes from inside and flows outward in many ways.

We will have the good and bad memories as that is life. When you are gone to “parts unknown” someday, what will people say about you as a Dad? What will your kids fondest memories be? Make them count now so your years are spent in anticipation and not anxiety.

The serious, the sad, the silly. We own them all. Can you think back to the best memory with your own Dad? I hope you have too many and can’t choose just one. Happy Dad’s Day ( as I prefer that to Father’s) to all of you earning the best title I believe a guy can have! πŸ’™πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ₯‡πŸ†

P.S. A belated Happy Birthday in spirit to Warrior and an early Happy Father’s Day. I know his girls have their OWN ultimate Daddy memories forever in their hearts. πŸ’–πŸ’–

Who Would You Meet? πŸ™πŸ»

I decided to have some fun with this question or at least I hope you think so. πŸ€” The last few posts have been kinda intense yet funny but this thought kept coming to me. I would read or see something similar on social media “quizzes” with surveys people answer. We all have our own fascinations with celebrities or famous people. Come on, you know who you are or were a fan of! Most will know mine by now as is part of my journey but I do have others.

Who would you want to meet and what would you say or do? Maybe you’d be relaxed or super cool but I bet most of you would have that OMG moment mentioned a lot here. Those questions can be asked of people on Earth or that have passed. If you could hang out with them for a day, wouldn’t that be awesome? I should say ultimate! πŸ˜‰

This can be for anyone at all you consider famous but really think about it. Would your list be people that are current or maybe even way back in time? It can be quite easy for some but then difficult for others. Religious folks might say Jesus, Buddha, or even Mother Teresa who is a Saint now. Your list can be historical, inventors, or explorers. T.V. or movie stars– it’s all endless. No one is off limits and no celebrity is too silly. It’s your people so have fun with it (:

I keep thinking of who mine would be. Warrior is separate from this but let’s see who is on my list. Probably not who you could or would be thinking… First, I would have Marie Curie. I did a report on her in 4th grade, have a book, and always admired the endurance she undertook in a male dominated field. Harriet Tubman is is another woman whose bravery and sacrifices enabled African Americans the beginnings of abolishing slavery. I have always been fascinated by her story. Our town is known for its Underground Railroad Passageways!

A few different people in the mix are Shari Lewis and John Ritter. Shari was a little ahead of my time but her contagious energy with puppetry inspired so many generations. I loved Lamb Chop and always wanted her for my own. I settled for “Fleecie” which was a beany baby my Mom bought after my car accident. Our kids were even familiar with Shari’s later shows and loved all the puppets.

Jim Henson was a similar performer. I remember being so sad hearing about “Kermit.” He is my favorite Muppet and The Muppet Show was a big staple in our house as kids along with Sesame Street. Puppets were such a part of my teaching career too. I must also add how Grover was second to Kermit for me. For my students, I did a great Grover impression and even received a special Grover book on my birthday once from a co-worker. Of course I kept it… It’s kinda funny how he did “Super Grover” ( ya know– a superhero.) Warrior embodied that too only with face paint and no cape. πŸ’™πŸ’ͺ🏻

John Ritter was a comedic genius to me and “Three’s Company” was one of my favorite shows. It ended when I was 12 but reruns are always in syndication. He had so many other numerous roles that contributed to his icon status. I even saw his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and touched it. Ironically, he passed of a serious heart condition and was 54 like Warrior but always made me laugh.

Am sure there are way more popular public figures the world would want to meet in spirit like Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, JFK, Princess Diana, and many others. Even people alive and well that are known for fame would be a thrill to actually talk or sit with. Could you even fathom a question? I got tongue-tied even talking to Dana Warrior on her podcast but made it through!! There was my Q and A for Warrior post but truly do enjoy just listening to his speeches.

Let’s see if I can come up with a list for him… Well, that’s tough considering how influenced he was by so many but I’ll try. It would definitely be some founding fathers of our country, philosophers, thinkers, authors, presidents, and war heroes. Am thinking specifically Ronald Reagan, Mark Twain, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and perhaps Joseph Campbell whom he mentions as a great influencer. Also, am sure some Native Chiefs would be on his list as many paintings and statues adorned Casa de Warrior over the years.

So, do you have a list warriors? Maybe yours might change over time once people pass on. Maybe it will stay the same since your admiration never wavers. Who knows once we’re in spirit who we will or can meet besides seeing relatives. I believe there is no separation and no egos so why not?

Am sure many of you fans would want to meet Warrior and maybe someday you will or even other favorite passed WWE Superstars. I can only imagine my reaction as yours will be somewhat different. Who would you meet? Enjoy your list and quite possibly those in “Parts Unknown” will honor it. We are all the same in spirit– celebrity or not… ❀️

Hangin’ Out with Warrior ( Dream…)πŸͺ‘

“Who’s that lounging in my chair?… this surely is a dream.”

~~~ Marcy Playground, 1997.
I won’t say the title as it’s kinda risquΓ© (look up on your own😬) but this song kept popping in my head and on the radio so had to use it for today’s post! I kept hearing it and finally laughed as I needed to. So, yes warriors recently another dream came to be and it did involve that chair in my driveway, the action figure, and Warrior. Let’s see…. don’t think there’s been a dream to really speak of since the buffalo one and this was just sorta relaxing and casual. Just like the title.
It started out as a typical meet and greet where Warrior was signing autographs, shaking hands, and posing for photos. The little boy I mention in “Which Warrior Would You Choose” ( 6/26/18) was in this so guess he got another opportunity! I still love him in that video talking about Warrior’s hair. Maybe that’s why he made a return appearance (: Me, well, I was just an observer of all this which would always be entertaining anyway. Being in the background for just a little until it got more personal.
After that time with fans, all of a sudden I was at my house outside in the driveway. The garage was open and had tables with food spread out like for a party. People were around but no idea really of who they were. Warrior was there and sitting in a chair in my driveway. I imagined that chair you see but now that I think more, he’d probably not fit in it! Not entirely sure if he was the guest of honor at this party or just casually being there. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt but the sun was shining so not too cold in Ohio that day.
He wasn’t mobbed or anything and our group was small. The little boy was there too so guess I knew him! It was then that I went into my house and found the action figure. Think this is about the third pic it’s been in for these writings. I showed it to him as he fingered it in his hands. He thought it was so cool I had it as I told him the story behind the find. ( That’s in my book Spirit and Belief.) I also blogged it first years ago.
Here’s the MORE interesting part. I said to him: “This action figure is the same one I believe that Dana has and she’d put it on the stage when presenting the Warrior Award at the Hall of Fame.” He says back: “Yeah, I think it is, so neat!” Um, WHAAT? The award wouldn’t exist if he were alive despite this being a dream. Gee, why didn’t I get my book to show him too? After all, that wouldn’t exist either. Wait, that was another dream… BTW– Dana had that action figure years before I found mine but the conversation was so surreal.
We chatted for a bit but I don’t remember him getting up really at all or eating. He was just there sitting in my chair in the driveway like no big deal. This is another example of lucid dreaming which I’ve experienced before. I did however find that action figure many years ago in the late ’90’s so that’s been in my life when Warrior was still alive.
Here’s another interesting part. Do any of you avid readers remember my post “Many Meaningful Masks” blogged 1/29/20? No, it doesn’t concern this global pandemic, lol! πŸ˜‚Well, the spot in the driveway where I drew Warrior’s masks in chalk six years ago was EXACTLY the same spot he was sitting in that chair. That’s why the figure isn’t close up since I wanted part of the driveway shown. This I remembered after going outside later in the day and just pausing on that spot.
I guess for me in all these dreams I have always just accepted them without questioning. Even with others I have never said: “How can you be here?” Or even: “Oh, wait I must be dreaming.” That is being lucid but there are other factors. Of course after waking up, I’d know these things but never doubting the messages or people in them. Some are a little more complex for sure to figure out and some also may not make the best of sense. I take them all as they guide me on my journey.
Warrior at my house– I’ll take it always! He’s been in my childhood background for another dream so now where I currently live. We were just hangin’ out with him lounging in my chair. No need for a big venue, lots of people, or over the top stuff. Always accept your dreams warriors no matter what. My driveway had those masks and then him in that same spot. Our lives do determine our dreams. Here’s to just hangin’ out wherever your dreams may take you… 😴
P.S. Another similarity with this was my story in the book about being in 7th grade and noticing the Road Warriors on a boy’s notebook. ***Many years later after Warrior had passed, I dreamt he gave a talk in my 7th grade classroom. I blogged that too as “Warrior Book Dream.” I brought my book to show him but then thought never would I have written it if he hadn’t passed. Lucid again and there were others. Can’t forget the Wrestling Buddy doll dream too. πŸ˜‰
Many Meaningful Masks
We do wear lots of masks throughout our lives warriors as some may have read on this blog before. This post isn’t quite as deep as getting to the real us but does involve several “mask” stories of my OWN that became very meaningful. A few are slightly amusing but then a few are well…., not so much. I do believe I’ve mentioned painting the Ultimate Warrior’s mask on my face was never something I’d do. Dana has had her face marked with her own brand of warrior woman paint but I only dabbled in small symbols on my cheeks. After all, he did that for a brief time so for me that was enough.
When my youngest sister was still quite little, I loved coloring and drawing with her. We had a few chalkboards to use for many creations. Guess what I showed her? Yep, the Ultimate Warrior mask. Why did that pop in my head? I wasn’t sure she’d fully understand my intensity back then so it was just called a “cat mask.” O.K., I know it doesn’t really look like a cat face but she bought it and became my muse of choice. She actually does still remember those times! Glad my silliness was so memorable and unforgettable to her. Just like Warrior was and still is to me.
Another funny memory was painting Easter eggs. Being a teenage girl meant most were done with that tradition but again with having a sibling ten years younger made me still participate. I remember painting an egg purple and then adding his mask in the middle with yellow. Those are Easter colors for real! So very proud of how it turned out. I realize this sounds obsessive as perhaps even true fans out there didn’t do this. We all have weird stuff as teens and I gotta say that was mild compared to other things kids my age were doing. 😬Am sure you have your own crazy times too! This was sweet to me and I’ve shared a lot personally so there warriors– you get another interesting tidbit from my past.
These last few are a little bittersweet. When I heard about Warrior’s HOF induction, the months just seemed to fly by as that Spring came fast. Some will know how warm it was that April here in Ohio which is discussed in my book Spirit and Belief. My daughter was still into chalk drawing like her aunt many years ago. I drew the Ultimate Warrior mask on our driveway in many different colors so happy for his upcoming weekend. They were great as I hadn’t even tried drawing that mask in years. My girl never questioned the validity as it’s just a symbol. Little did she know how much it meant to her Mama. *** PAUSE*** A few days later, Warrior passed. πŸ’”
I still could see those colorful masks in one spot of our driveway out my window. It made me so sad, shocked, and angry. With no rain coming, they were erased by me without a trace remaining. It was too much then even with no tears but now, I’d leave them for different reasons. Even though the chalk was erased from that pavement, I could never erase him from my life no matter how hard I tried almost six years ago.
This time also coincided with my daughter having a Dance Party at her school along with face painting. She had these beautiful butterflies on her cheeks and loved them. A few days after Warrior’s passing and I see my girl’s face painted. Of course this isn’t his mask like the other stories but my emotions still fought it.
My Dad’s big 70th birthday party was the next night and with sleep, her butterflies faded a little. She asked me to paint them back on so she could show off her face to everyone. I obliged but told her Mama would do the best I could and to not get mad. My hands were shaking as I picked up that first brush and chose her color. Why? Come on Kathy– this isn’t his mask, what’s wrong with you? Well, that was how much of my grief got displayed. I just told her I was nervous since that wasn’t something she rarely asked of me. Warrior’s mask- No. Face paint-yes. It still mattered a lot. Never could I even put on the mask from the book “A Life Lived Forever.” I had held it up to my face but the strap broke. I wasn’t meant to wear it…
Warrior created his many painted masks for the Ultimate Warrior character which I never ever wanted to replicate. It wasn’t for me but I guess other meaningful mask stories came to be. To even think I had mask stories surprised me until back from my memory bank they were there again. Just like Warrior.
If any of you have ever painted the U.W. mask on yourself or anyone else, bravo! Your masks are meaningful to you just like mine were to me. Warrior painted different masks and each became a story with ultimate meanings. No chalk could ever be erased from my memory. He was there with or without his mask and still will forever be. πŸ’–πŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ™πŸ»
P.S. We recently finally saw the movie “Fighting with my Family” which depicts the true story of Paige in the WWE. I really needed a chalkboard to slide my nails down since it shows WMXXX and Monday Night RAW of April 7, 2014… 😳 The U.W. wrestling buddy doll is also in this movie so sorry for the spoiler alert!! My husband even liked it. Another chalkboard moment.
Be Spontaneous warriors
*** This post is a few days early as I have some other important matters coming up…
Are you spontaneous warriors or are you more of a planner? Perhaps you are both. I’m always about a balance but am sure you know your traits by now. I myself am more of a planner like Warrior was ( and still is!) but spontaneity sneaks in too sometimes. Some feel being spontaneous is ultimately freeing while to some it feels like all will go wrong. Hmmm, which is it?
I’ll share a few little positives about being spontaneous. This story is in my book Spirit and Belief and I did blog it a few years back. It’s a perfect example so I’ll abbreviate just a little. Back in 2016, many dreams started coming and one was about Warrior’s wife Dana. I decided on a whim to contact her on the website and did right before a yoga class. When I returned, an email was waiting for me in my inbox from Dana! I was floored and totally stunned. Am sure she wouldn’t do this today.
That printed email sits proudly on my dresser where I can read it everyday. That was being spontaneous with a great result. O.K., maybe not totally but I did it without any expectations at all.
Even though much of pro-wrestling is scripted, some things of course are not. They never know what the crowd will say or do. The athletes in the ring may respond or maybe they won’t. When The Ultimate Warrior insulted Hulk Hogan on an episode of WCW’s Nitro back in August 1998, spontaneity brought much fun. At least it was for me. Warrior began a speech and the crowd started chanting: “Hogan Sucks!” many times. He silenced them by raising his hand and saying: “Let’s talk about something he doesn’t know!” To think some people didn’t see Warrior’s funny side. I did and it worked.
We do need both and even if a spontaneous action doesn’t work, at least you can say you went for it anyway. You can’t always fully plan everything and we need the unexpected moments too. That WCW episode also had Warrior referencing the man behind Hogan as his “barber.” It was Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake but I didn’t know then. He later became “The Disciple” as part of the NWO storyline involving Warrior. No idea if they all knew Warrior was planning that comment but it’s a reaction that becomes spontaneous. Those responses can lead to much humor.
Can you think of a spontaneous moment in your life that worked? I bet you can if you try hard enough. Just because it might’ve failed, keep that spontaneity since it helps us stay balanced. Some life decisions have to be carefully thought out and planned as am sure you know. We can’t just run around amuck without any direction or guidance. Warrior referenced this as Eric Bischoff wanted the WCW to be spontaneous but it wasn’t working too well. Nowadays, no one can even just crash at a hotel for the night before making a reservation ahead of time.
If we’re too cautious, opportunities may pass us by but if we plan everything, the fun goes away. I’m not saying to take too many leaps of faith here but just small ones on occasion. If I never would’ve agreed to be set up on a blind date with my husband, we may never have met. The same can be said about Dana meeting Warrior. Sure, she wanted to get her resume out there but wasn’t intimidated by him and took that chance at his gym. These encounters might have bombed for both of us but they didn’t. Even if they did, I would never abandon taking a chance with spontaneity and am sure Dana wouldn’t either.
It’s all in your mindset warriors. Some decisions can’t be undone and may have bad results because of spontaneity. Those are lessons learned which make us stronger for the next time. As warriors, it can be a challenge since we get fixated on how it needs to be. It isn’t all or nothing even though it may seem that way,
Warrior was an extreme person and planned many aspects on how he wanted his life to go. There were “bumps” along the way but there were also moments of spontaneity– rare as it was. I wanted to find some old WWF bloopers with him but couldn’t find any! Sure, there are plenty of videos out there that are extremely funny but very few moments with him. Some former wrestlers have discussed his humor so it does exist! If anyone has some, let me know since I’d love to see them. Dana has also mentioned his silliness so I always loved hearing those stories as well.
Be spontaneous warriors even just sometimes. You’ll have good antics to share and it’ll bring out your funny side. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œ We need planning but the fun needs to be part of that tag team too! Warrior has given me some funny spontaneous moments as a spirit and he knows my humor by now. Find that balance to work for you warriors and always believe in spontaneity. Just not ALL the time… πŸ˜‰
Wild Warrior (Buffalo) Woman
“They say dreams are the window of the soul–take a peek and you can see the inner workings…” ~~ Henry Bromell
Isn’t this title so majestic sounding? I tend to think so. Let me share how today’s post came to be. I’ll back up a little by saying– yes, buffalo or bison are described in that Totem Animal book of a few weeks ago. They are a symbol of prosperity and spirituality so here we go with another dream… 😴
I was on a movie set in this dream where Warrior was filming a documentary on buffaloes! Huh? He definitely was interested in these great creatures of the Northern Plains and I was involved with his project. WOW… First, we were teaching together and now working on a movie. I wonder where we’ll be next? I still don’t know my role with this buffalo movie but I’ll take it. Dana was also there but I never interacted with either of them, just the director.
The director decided to show me around the set with a golf cart ride! We were almost done when I saw a little girl sitting by herself. She seemed kinda sad, almost lost really. This girl totally looked like the girl in the first Santa Clause movie at the soccer field. She just knew he was Santa and all these kids formed a line. You can look that up… Anyway, the director told her we’d be back to pick her up later but she still seemed confused. That was how I felt just a little. πŸ€”
We returned and Dana was in an area with a backdrop around her while holding a baby and my first thought was Indy. ( their firstborn daughter) I made this connection since in the book “A Life Lived Forever” Indy signs her name in the letter to her Dad as white warrior buffalo.” White Warrior Buffalo Woman teaches relationships between the material and spiritual worlds. Again, my observation but hey– dreams all serve a purpose. Dana just spoke to the baby while waiting her turn.
Next, I saw Warrior wearing a jacket with a huge American Eagle on the back. It was all red, white, and blue but hand stitched. Think U.S.A. flag colors. So very cool! He had his long blond hair and held a script in his hand. I could see him gesturing and talking to several people. This documentary was gonna ultimate!! Again, I never went up to him and he never spoke to me.
The buffaloes were not that far off in the distance as I looked thru the windows. They were so powerful roaming near the mountains. It was then that the director handed me my OWN script which contained info on all the people involved. I found my byline and this is what it read: “Even with yoga, she is a wild warrior woman.” There HAD to be other credentials but that’s the part I remember. Yes, there are warrior yoga poses! I found the director and was upset that it seemed to mention yoga as being, ya know– not a big deal to me. He said I got it all wrong and that the yoga was a good thing. Oh, so grateful for that explanation.
The wild woman part totally connected me to another book I mentioned last year. Remember Women Who Run With The Wolves? Sub buffaloes! I’m still in the book club and it mentions warrior archetypes throughout(: Despite all this, the mystery remained as to my real involvement with our beautiful buffalo documentary. I mean O.K., they are spiritual animals and I loved seeing them in South Dakota a few summers ago. We even have them here in Ohio. Obviously, I was not there as an “expert” by any means!
I also was not an “extra” at all since they don’t really get a byline, do they? Well, no idea how this project got finished but it was incredible having been part of it all. I just so hoped that little girl found her way back to the set! Also, so hoped to get a scene or two with Warrior and Dana but knowing they came in this dream for me is truly a gift. I always treasure everything so maybe I just had to believe after all. πŸ™πŸ»
Can you picture Warrior working on a project like this? I gotta say it was great seeing him being so creative and allowing me in alongside his warrior buffalo tribe. β€οΈπŸ’™
P.S. My title of this post is like a dot.com (minus the b for buffalo!)
P.P.S. I like HHH as well as WWW since I always have these three:
H=humility
H=humor
H=heart
** The man HHH (Paul Levesque) is also pretty cool too! BTW–He helped bring Warrior back to the WWE. πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ’™
True Ultimate Timing
Well, Warrior fans~~ we made it to another year of this blog. It’s not official for a few more days but happy 3rd anniversary to warriorwritings (: To think I only thought of writing this for a year. The inspiration and motivation never stops. Time is relative and yet fleeting. THANK YOU ALL! πŸ₯° Especially Mr. Warrior. πŸ’™
Am sure you’ve heard that expression of “perfect timing.” Do you associate this with a good or bad feeling? I guess it could be both but let’s focus on the good, shall we? Think of all the stuff in your life and how one thing led to another. Kinda reminds me of the 1983 song “One Thing Leads to Another” by The Fixx. It all lines up my friends with that timing just for you. Whether you think personal or professional, it truly is ultimate.
Speaking of that word, how about the timing of Ultimate Warrior’s career? That photo is shortly after his IC title win over HTM. (Honky Tonk Man) He even said : “it was the right time.” I personally believe him winning the Heavyweight title over Hulk Hogan was also the right time despite some naysayers. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻
Sometimes we need to do months and years of work while achieving success but then again, sometimes things literally get dropped in our lap to create that perfect timing. Has this happened to you? Am sure the first has but what about the second? For me, it was my 1st job lining up without a ton of work and yet again when I found U.W. items at my preschools. It can be both and probably happens more times than we realize.
If Dana had never walked into Warrior’s Gym back in 1994, they may have never met. True ultimate timing at its best. If I hadn’t really started following U.W’s career thru my T.V. set as a teenager, I wouldn’t be doing this today. Not to mention this blog becoming a book Spirit and Belief that got brought up as an idea thru another’s blog who knew about Hay House. All true ultimate timing once again.
You can apply this type of scenario to any aspect of your life really. Again though, no downers with the bad stuff~~ including Warrior. Go ahead. Right now list all the good situations in your life and how the timing just seemed to line up. A bit of advice here is that technically, there will never be that perfect time to do anything. If things line up, great. If some things aren’t quite right, go for it anyway. You’ll be glad you did. I can list so much on that topic alone! It may never be the perfect time to switch jobs, move, get married, have a baby, end a relationship, start a new project, or whatever. When you look back on that event, hopefully you will say it WAS true ultimate timing after all.
I have often said that Warrior leaving the WWF back in 1992 also seemed to be the right time. At first- NO! Such frustration and questions then for sure. In the end though, he never would’ve been able to begin his career in a new way and then be fully present with his family life. Just to add myself as part of this somewhat, I could’ve been married around 22-23 in order to please this guy’s family. That was the “norm” for marriage then, right? Well, thankfully that didn’t happen or I never would’ve met my husband or had our kids. Plus, I was never in love with that guy anyway like they wanted me to be. True ultimate timing choke holded me into submission on that one!
It is o.k. at times to wait on a decision if it seems a little off. Just don’t wait too long as opportunities may pass you by. You also may never fully know the timing of events until it’s your turn to travel up to parts unknown. Then, you’ll know. The timing of your life can be similar to another like many things I did connected with Warrior. Crazy as that sounds to some, it’s true. Even if yours don’t match with another, it is still your timing and the life you are meant to have.
True ultimate timing comes all the time in many ways. The good and the bad. We need them all to continue on everyday. As warriors, timing truly is everything.
P.S. 3 years= a 3 count for the WIN!
Warrior Battle Scars
As I honor and remember Patriot Day today, all those images come to mind of 18 years ago. Those true warriors battling to save lives will always remain in my heart. The survivors and those lost have their scars– external and internal. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ’”πŸ˜ͺ…
My story to share isn’t comparable to 9/11 of course but does relate to the warrior battle scars I’ve endured. Warrior had his battles as am sure some of you have had also. Do you hide your scars or proudly show them off? That photo of me you see is a visible facial scar I incurred over 19 years ago as a result of a car accident. I relate more details of the Good Samaritan woman who came to my aid in “Angels on Earth” – 11/19/18 thru my other blog at: www.spiritandbelief.com
This post today is more about my fighting spirit as a warrior even back then.
Four broken cheekbones wouldn’t stop me, oh no. Thankfully, I wasn’t at fault and was nicely compensated for my injuries. Determination on the inside matters, not money on the outside. Sure, that nest egg came in handy years later but healing became my priority.
That warrior girl then made jokes with the paramedics, fought wearing a neck brace, and even conversed with the woman at fault. Being so panic stricken, she ran around screaming. I pushed my arm thru the broken driver’s side window and grabbed her arm while saying calmly to call 9-1-1. The victim had to comfort another. I look back with such amazement. Another humorous moment was car shopping with my Dad. By then, my left eye was streaming quite often so it looked like I was crying. That was part of the healing. I had joked with the car salesman about an accident victim getting a good deal– (cue the tears!) I also had told co-workers about wanting a new car but not this way! Glad my humor remained… That was also part of my warrior self.
The remaining weeks that followed brought so much battling that I was told often to “rest.” After all, 5.5 hours of plastic surgery would make anyone tired in many ways. This relates to last week’s post of asking for help which again was hard to do. I would cover up my “better” eye and force the “bad” one to read. Of course both move anyway but my warrior spirit had to take action.
I had a crooked smile for a while and got different creams to hide my scars. The scars on my belly previously mentioned from working out wrong at age 12 could be hidden but this couldn’t. Warrior had his face paint but I wasn’t in character– this was really me. Nowadays, I don’t cover those scars anymore and own them with pride. They are part of me and winning that battle.
Those are external just like a few others. Remember My “Backbreaker” Injury where I discussed my back but also Warrior breaking his ankle? (5/22/19) Well, he also tore a bicep years after that and handled it in his own Warrior way. All external but what about those internal ones? Most may know of his heart condition but we all also have scars on the inside forever a part of us. Maybe they’ve healed, maybe they haven’t. Both Warrior and his wife Dana were bullied but they never gave up that warrior spirit of battling those internal scars.
The outside can be healed but the inside emotions forever remain. It’s all in how you respond that makes such a difference. I didn’t share my accident story for pity at all. I could’ve listed much more but am sharing to show how we must as warriors battle back always. Whatever your scars are, don’t hide them. It may be difficult to do but as a warrior, I realized it became a must.
Again, I will not ever compare my scars to those who have been through much worse but the emotion is the same. Just like with Warrior’s life moments and mine. They are never concretely similar but the feelings and responses are. Don’t just use your battle scars to tell a great story of survival but use them to inspire others. That’s what Warrior did and hopefully I am doing that also for all of you. It’s your turn next to pass on your warrior battle scars to another and keep inspiration going.
*** Those Patriots of 9/11 sacrificed so much as real warriors. As we pause, let’s honor our scars and own them as we battle on everyday.
