The Deep End πŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ’¦

A night early as I have some last minute things to take care of tomorrow morning…

Music is always there for me warriors. From the beginning even until now. 🎼 The song “Shallow” sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from the movie “A Star is Born” inspired this post today. Parts of it sum up my spiritual life and how it has evolved with Warrior. “… we’re far from the shallow now.” I am reminded of him with another lyric: “Ain’t it hard keeping it so hardcore?”

The shallow end leads to the deep end but are you willing to “swim” there too? Maybe many thought Warrior was too far off the deep end with his disciplines and beliefs but being extreme propelled him to keep swimming.

A pool metaphor is perfect as I had two growing up, my husband had one, and we are now onto our second one with the kids. How many of you jump or dive right in? Maybe you feel more comfortable taking your time perhaps dipping a toe in at first. I have done both but am more of the toe girl or having a raft to float on. We used to laugh at my Dad who’d get in the pool like he was bathing. He’d splash the water up and down his arms and chest similar to lather! That was his way of getting used to the water temperature.

Am sure those of you with pools or swimmers can understand this. I’d love swimming in an in ground pool and being capable enough to go out to the deep end. It was so freeing and grown-up even though nobody can touch in 8 or 9 feet of water. I did it because I could and wanted to but sometimes also as a dare. I was a great swimmer and always last getting out of the pool. My Mom called me the family fish. 🐠

With other aspects in life, the “deep end” can seem scary and intimidating. I was never pushed off a diving board but sometimes we seem pushed to succeed. Even babies learn to hold their breath by being dunked underwater. Staying in the shallow end is fine but then you’ll never experience all the deep end has to offer. Sure, it’s risky but life can be which we do need. Think of all the times you went in the deep end metaphorically and did it pay off? Sometimes– yes, sometimes–no. Warrior and I have both had those moments. I bet you do too if you think hard enough. Not being careless but just experiences we all have.

Even though our professional lives were very different, publishing something brought us similarities. Warrior had high expectations (I believe at the time) with his comic books and later on, they didn’t sell very well. I love mine which was blogged as “The Spiritual Warrior” 8/22/18. I had bought too many copies of my book Spirit and Belief thinking I could hand sell them. Both of us off the deep end just a little but lessons learned. Sometimes we do need to tread water while remembering to keep our head afloat.

Perhaps you love the shallow because it’s comfortable but you’ll never feel challenged and life really is the whole pool. Warrior would dive in with ideas for his character but sometimes Vince would pull him back to the shallow just a little. My evolvement with Warrior was like dipping a toe in the water because that created longevity. If I dove head first in the water back then, I surely would’ve drown. Do you feel that way?

It’s the head and heart balance always. We need both but then that gut instinct treads along too. Our passions may push us into the water but we can choose the shallow or deep end. We need those ends just how life truly is. Some may never swim to the deep and that is their choice. Will they regret it? Who knows but life shouldn’t be about regrets. Again, a balance of being comfortable and taking chances.

I’m not a huge risk taker but I do when my interests push me farther out to that deep end. After all, if nothing interests you why swim to the deepest part when everything you need is in the shallow? I find that hard to believe but really it’s the fear. It’s the fear holding you back and not the water or situation itself. You can have others teach you to swim but you’ll eventually have to take off those floaties and just go… This is true of any other metaphor you want to connect with.

You will not feel bad about swimming for that deep end even if you can’t touch the bottom. I remember trying water skiing and being the only one in our group to attempt. I wanted to do it for me and because I love water sports, not just to impress. Never mastered it and ended up falling! After choking for a few minutes ( cue slight embarrassment πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ) I did get back up and try again. Despite the outcome, I went towards a deep end while others stayed in the shallow.

Warrior was a deep end guy and not just with his character. His philosophies and introverted way of thinking I highly admire because we are the same like that. Deep end thinkers work too, not just for swimming. So, warriors the shallow or deep end? You’ll be in both but don’t fear the deep. You won’t drown if you keep swimming to the other side. Take that life preserver if you need it. Look back at the shallow and know how far you’ve gone. The water of life is waiting… “I’m off the deep end, watch as I dive in…”

P.S. Remember water is essential for us. It is fluid and always moving. You need to be that way too. We all do.

A Competitive Spirit πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€Όβ€β™‚οΈ

I’m not very competitive but are you warriors? I guess I’m referencing sports or games here but really, we all are. We are always competing in one way or another in this game of life. We compete as parents, drivers, having better vacations, and even what we post on social media. It can be anything. The question is: Do you compete to impress others or to best yourself? Hmmm. That could go both ways. Do you even have to like what you’re doing to be competitive at it?

For me, I’d always take that reverse psychology idea of being really negative like I won’t win at a game or be good enough. Sometimes, that mentality would win surprising everyone. Remember in gym class how you had to run around the school track a few times a year? My kids still do this. You aren’t competing on a team but setting a time and then trying to beat it later on. It’s for you, not them. I bet you’d be competitive when faced with certain situations but for this, you’re competing with yourself.

That takes us to the competitive spirit of Warrior. Yes, the sports he chose required much competition that fueled his mentality. He wanted to push his body excelling beyond physical limits and not necessarily being better, bigger, or stronger than another. YES, the business of pro- wrestling is extremely competitive and YES, he was bigger than most. Some of his mindset will always be a mystery but I believe the main reason was his competing with himself. He succeeded in the way that worked because of his competitive spirit with himself. His alter ego was “Mr. Resistance” whom he battled everyday. Of course Warrior wanted to be the best by beating Hulk Hogan as a goal but after that, then what?

Once you have fans cheering and clapping for you, it does make your competitive nature increase naturally. It would for any of us. Fans will bring that out every single time. The video above has Warrior saying: “… for the opportunity to prove I was the best, that my warriors believed in me because I was the best.” (That’s not why I believed in him but let’s move on…) These are just his words for the promo and what the Ultimate Warrior was referencing regarding Randy Savage and their feud leading up to Summerslam in 1992. Professions are different than personal lives but do you feel the need to prove you’re the best?

When things are going your way, do you push harder or keep it the same? It all depends on your own competitive spirit. Your choice warriors. Either way you’ll get results of your choosing. Sometimes, we can surrender to competition but then that spirit drives us to want more. Being in a sport can start at a very young age and if it continues, that competitive nature will go on and on as the mindset changes. How many awards, trophies, or titles do you need before stepping aside just a little?

There are those forces in life that need us to compete but it shouldn’t have to be everything. Getting caught up in being the best is great motivation but when is it too much? Lots of questions here but worth examining… Your best may not equate with someone else’s best. It’s all in our own views of what we consider with that competitive spirit. I know now that most of my competing was and is always with myself. It used to be more centered around others but not so much anymore. Always the mind warriors, it truly is. Now, I realize that my spirit doesn’t need to be the best constantly as it becomes exhausting.

Meditation has brought me awareness of being enough. What and how I do activities today will be enough. I’ve accepted that and don’t beat myself up mentally anymore because of competition. I don’t physically either with my workout. No, I’ve never been in a professional sport so that becomes another competitive challenge. Who knows exactly how I’d handle all that and naysayers drive you to compete more.

So, warriors– do you feel the need to fuel that competitive spirit or do you push it aside? We need both ideas but it’s up to you deciding what and how much. We constantly evolve with certain goals to achieve in our lives. Warrior kept his competitive spirit always as was his destiny to do so. Competing with others or yourself is a life-long journey and one we may never fully abandon because we’re human.

Just know there are ways to balance out all this and make that competitive spirit worth it. You feed your success. Only you can decide how much and make it work in your life. YOUR best is good enough…

β€œI Think I Can…” πŸ€”πŸš‚

***Before I begin, this week marks 3.5 years since this blog began… Thank you all so very much for the support as I always support you as well. πŸ€—

That little blue engine storybook is quite the tale isn’t it? Do you warriors know this story? I actually was finding myself in a little bit of a lull with my next post and then found what I needed to find. Not on purpose once again but always meant to be. A book bringing us together as I am always amazed.

While searching for a photo to use a few weeks back with Warrior’s Machete, down the youtube rabbit hole I seemed to go. Never intentionally but I do believe these connections matter. You may not but in my life, they do. I came across this video titled: “The Final Days of the Ultimate Warrior.” Ugh.., I promised myself not to watch anymore of these bios as most are extremely negative. I stared at it for a few minutes after deciding to watch. Boy, am I glad I did.

*** First off, another milestone this week on blog day. Warrior has been in spirit form now for 6 years today. I don’t normally do stats but wanted to for this one. It’s been 2, 191.45 days. Probably minus 1 for me. WOW. That’s a pretty big number. He was born and passed on a Tuesday. I was also born on a Tuesday. πŸ˜‰

That day was named after the Nordic god Tyr who was also their god of war. Kinda fitting.,, I like the old children’s poem about Days of the Week. Tuesday’s child is full of grace. We all need grace although humbling at times. The number 6 again and again. I know spirit life is treating you well Warrior as I always believe in grace… And stats… And dates… And no coincidences…

Now, back to the train story. So, to summarize for anyone not wanting to watch the video, here’s a little synopsis. During Warrior’s HOF WM30 weekend, he gave Vince McMahon a copy of the original “Little Engine That Could” by Watty Piper. Vince was extremely puzzled and didn’t understand. Warrior reminds him how he told about it being his favorite book as a child and thought of the Ultimate Warrior as the engine that could. Vince also thought of the WWE as being the engine that could… make a name for themselves in sports entertainment. He thought they both could and did. Vince was so touched by Warrior’s gift and remembered the man behind the paint with how he listened to succeed.

This part in the bio is at the 11:00 minute mark. 11 is another great spiritual number warriors, just sayin’…. The whole time thru my OMG tears, I knew I had this book. It’s in my attic with the kids memories. I truly thought my Mom had bought it after our son was born but no. I bought it as the memory came rushing back. I found that book and held it in my hands as the whole thing came together.

Us preschool teachers would receive gift cards from the kids and many to Barnes and Noble bookstore. A co-worker of mine used to tease me about never purchasing an adult book and just adding to our kids library. I just loved children’s books and couldn’t resist a classic like “The Little Engine That Could.” My version isn’t exactly the same with trains refusing to help but the basic story is. The tears weren’t sad but just overwhelming ones knowing that story can have such an impact.

It’s all in our attitude warriors. If we think we can, we will. If we don’t, we won’t. I’ve said that before so I hope you take it to heart like Warrior and Vince did. My kids both loved that story and would mouth “I think I can…” often when trying to accomplish something. Maybe as teens, they need that reminder again. You too could possibly own this book or even remember it being read to you as a child. Perhaps it isn’t a big deal with your memories and that’s fine. All these great connectors are part of my journey so trust me on this…

The other parts of the bio are all accurate with happy and sad moments. I love the backstage still shots us fans rarely see. This channel has a few other bios on the Ultimate Warrior character so feel free to check it out. Now, I will never really feel the same about this wonderful train story written 25 years before I was born ( on a Tuesday.)

Sure, I could’ve picked out any book that day in the store but chose that little blue engine. Memories for Vince, Warrior, me, my preschool kids, and then my own. Years apart and yet all together on one track. Vince had called the Ultimate Warrior “a locomotive” ( blogged and in my book Spirit and Belief) but the little engine that could had a huge task.

~~~ Like Warrior signs to Vince in the book: “Thanks for the opportunity to go from I think I can to I Know I can.”
~~~ I didn’t think I could do this at first but I thank Warrior for making ME know I can… Here’s to 6 years of always believing — here’s to GRACE and stories never forgotten. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’™

30 Years of Time…πŸ•°

How about this date warriors? April 1st is a Wednesday this year which also means Happy 30th Anniversary to Wrestlemania VI on blog day! When I look back, that was more than half my lifetime ago. This post isn’t about “The Ultimate Challenge” but more about that number of 30. Here are some interesting facts about these years of time connecting to me, Warrior, and possibly all of you old enough to relate…

First, Warrior (Jim Hellwig) won Mr. Georgia back in 1984. That Junior Level Bodybuilding Competition was held in New Orleans. Flash forward 30 years later to 2014 in New Orleans AGAIN for his WWE HOF induction during WMXXX weekend. Wow… 30 connects once more. This man had so many dates in alignment, I can’t even keep up sometimes. But, yes I guess I can… Second, let’s look at some dates of mine. I BREATHE this one out a little more. Back in April of 1990, I was the same age as Mattigan Warrior is now (Warrior’s younger daughter). Technically, not in the same grade and minus a few months because of our birthdays but both 17(going on 18.) Her Daddy won that title when I was her age and it is very surreal to me. Am sure some of you are my age but for me, it’s a little more. 😊

That also means she and I are 30 years apart as I believe her mother Dana and I are the same age as well. So synchronistic on this journey. I don’t go looking for comparisons really warriors. My stories just seem to come and then line up in ways I never thought about– until now. I do have many connections with numbers and dates as numerology does play a significant role in my life. Does it for you too?

In another post of last year, I mentioned time with references to my kids. For those without kids, it can be other frames of time you reflect on. I’ve said how a memory can come back in a second and then sometimes we may have to recall a little more. Is it yesterday in your mind or does time really seem to be that long? However it is for you, make it count which I’ve also said many times. We can’t make time stop but it can slow down some. Just look at our global world right now. Maybe we do need that downtime despite setbacks temporarily.

Let’s not constantly run to that ring of life always anticipating the next and next. Sometimes, professionally we need to do that like WWE performers but get that relaxed time too. I realize we all have life choices, careers, families, and such but if your time doesn’t slow just a little, you’ll miss out on those moments that matter most. I know some who will say it won’t make a difference or we’ll rest when we retire but it doesn’t have to be like that. Just enjoy the present since those with kids understand how fast they do indeed grow up.

I’m not saying don’t socialize ever ( well, this time is different right now…) but become more mindful with your actions. Don’t be so rushed that your memories become a blur. You’ll get so burned out that important milestones or even everyday life will be hard to remember. Your thoughts will be centered among the next best thing around the corner. Take that downtime you need everyday and just be. That’s it. Of course not all day but some time for you enjoying the moment and memories it will bring.

Can you remember what your life was like 30 years ago warriors? I am soo jealous of anyone present in that Toronto Skydome!! Hopefully, most who are reading are older than that number to remember but if not, try just 10 years ago. How old were you and are you doing things you set out to do? NEVER could I have predicted this future for myself back at the age of 17. I know 30 is a big chunk of time for some but truly try with any number that has a special meaning to you. What you remember most is what counts, even if it’s a bad experience. It’s yours and hopefully you’re stronger for it. You may not have numbers and dates like me and Warrior but yours play such a big part in this life, live them well.

Sure, we can reflect easier with movies, books, videos, and photographs but it’s your heart that brings those memories to the surface. When I look back fondly on WMVI, it isn’t always the DVD or pictures I gravitate toward. It’s my mind and heart together as I hope that never ends. Last year brought many milestones and now this year brings others. It does go on. Next year, WMVII will be 30 and that will bring another. Look at what needed to happen for WM36 this year! Another milestone indeed although unexpected.

So, spend that time needed reflecting warriors and slow down sometimes. We do need to. I imagine Warrior is too in some ways as a spirit although remember– ENERGY never goes away! Believe me on this. πŸ˜‰πŸ’™ All Wrestlemania’s will have their own significant milestone memories with time just like your own lives with moments lived. Warrior says a similar statement during his Aug. 1998 WCW Nitro speech to “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan.

Would I want to be 17 again? Nah, too emotional plus there’s a movie title for that! ~~ Happy 30th Anniversary to WMVI and all the performers. Thanks for the memories of time… The Ultimate Challenge of WMVI becoming 30 this year like Warrior as a spirit now for almost 6… 30 and 6 once again…… πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈπŸ‘πŸ»

Back to Warrior’s Machete…

Did any of you Warrior fans ever read his blog “Warrior’s Machete” back in the day? Well, I did a few times and wanted to find a pic or video reflecting his look during that period. I also wanted to look up exactly what a machete is as I know it to be a sword. I get why he used that reference as a warrior but found out something else. It means “macho” in Spanish! I wonder if he ever knew that? He does now (: ***BTW– I recently watched the video again where the Ultimate Maniacs made their television debut. The date was 9-19-92. My birthday is Sept. 19th. πŸ’–

Let’s go back to early 1999 for me and Warrior’s machete. First off, I really can’t even remember him having a website much less a blog. No idea on why this came to my mind at all. Did someone tell me? No, at least not to my knowledge. Maybe a song on the radio put him into my thinking that inspired me to look it up online. I don’t know since that remains another mystery…???

Here’s a different question for you to ponder. Who remembers or had WebTV before other ways of connecting to the Internet? We didn’t have extra money for true internet service and it was limiting then. Oh my goodness, such memories. My brother had set this up for our Mom to use in her bedroom but my sister and I had access as well. You had to follow this green line at the bottom of the screen and watch it load. At least there was nice music playing instead of that screeching noise made by dial-up! 😬 I vividly remember sitting on my Mom’s bed (later a chair) when no one was home waiting for that connection to find “Warrior’s Machete.”

I knew he’d have lots to say but no idea on these lengthy posts! No way could I spend close to an hour maybe reading all he typed. Most times, I’d just skim thru his thoughts on wrestling, politics, patriotism, historians, and on and on… Very interesting and thought provoking whether I was necessarily in agreement or not. Mom would be coming back soon from picking up my sister from Band practice or a friend’s house so I always had to read quickly. The car would be pulling into our driveway as I moved fast to shut it down. I only recall checking it out a few times plus also seeing his gear on the website. I really wanted to see a photo of him then. He looked similar to my pic above.

I never forgot that obviously but let’s move forward to about 6 years later. Yes, I did the math and yes, that number pops up again! My son was about a year old as I lived elsewhere now with my new family. While he napped, that was ME time. Even though my kids are older, that time of day is still for me– just in other ways. Now, it involves my workout but then the fitness aspect wasn’t as detailed.

I decided to get on the computer and look up:

http://www.ultimatewarrior.com ( Am not linking this since it’s different now.) *** Why did I look this up? What in the world made his website once again come into my thoughts? Guess what I found? Warrior’s Machete and I’m pretty sure it was still that blog. It is a little blurry to me so anyone who can validate in 2005– let me know! Wow… it was the same lengthy way he wrote back in 1999. So very cool to know he was still around communicating his points of view to fans although controversial at times. A few different subject matters that made me sigh… 😞but all him.

Things come to our minds for so many reasons that we may not question at the time. When I looked up “Warrior’s Machete,” never did I think twice about it at all. I just had the idea and went with it– both times. Years later, it became my turn to write my own blogs in my P.O.V. Warrior was a blogger, Dana was, and so am I. None of this was me emulating or comparing at all. I fought it emotionally back then and fought it hard.

Every time I sit to write either of my blogs, I remember discovering “Warrior’s Machete” 21 years ago in my Mom’s bedroom. Who would’ve thought I’d be writing on the internet like he did? Not me ever. Life changes in so many ways as am sure you all can relate some past experiences with your now.

Warrior evolved with his blog over time as I have with mine. Whatever your passion is, things come and stay if they are truly meant to be. The Universe and my intuition worked together lining up “Warrior’s Machete” several times in my life for a future I never expected. Look for those universal moments in your life warriors. You may not have a machete with words but follow that intuition. It’ll get you there and keep believing as a warrior with your own P.O.V. πŸ’‘πŸ‘πŸ»

Never Say Never πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Yep, that’s right warriors. Never Say Never. Not to yourself or anyone else since that’s a dream killer. Warrior never said it but had it said to him. Alright, o.k., he never even liked pro wrestling at all so am sure he never thought of becoming one later in life. There were those who thought he’d never do much of anything or even succeed with his Ultimate Warrior character. He never wavered and disproved their blatant attitudes of never. I never pictured writing a blog, book, or even having a spiritual connection with Warrior at all. Things start out one way and then end up another. Consider some common “never” statements:

“I would never parent my kids that way! ( you might end up anyhow)

“I would never be intimate before marriage…” ( most are anyway)

“I am never having more than one child!” ( guess what? You may have more)

“I’m never getting another dog ever again!” ( Now, you have 2)

~~ Do you say statements like these? So many things in life start with us not wanting, saying, or doing but they might just happen anyhow.

Perhaps you even say those never statements to another. I’ve had a few said to me like:

” You’ll never get a tattoo.” ( I have 3)

“You’ll never put blond in your hair!” ( I did until recently)

“You’ll never eat avocados!” ( Yes, I do and love them)

I bet you don’t regret doing those actions that were first part of a never. It can be anything from going to an expensive restaurant, ( just NOT now, yikes…) traveling to a foreign country, ( Again, NOT now, ugh…) or even just binge watching your favorite reality show on Netflix. Fill in the blank:

“I would never…….”–Do you believe it? Most young girls or women probably think more about the big life stuff but guys– correct me if I’m wrong! Some girls will say: “I am never waiting until my thirties to start a family.” Or even: “I will never not be your best friend.” Life happens and situations are always very different. I actually said I always wanted 4 kids but now never can imagine that at all. Once I had 2 and with both being sick at birth, plans changed. Never say never comes in many ways and some we don’t even realize.

Just remember to attack and slay that never just like a warrior. Even the Ultimate one had to slay his teen nevers which then became his professional nevers said by some. We are not spiting here ( which I know sounds good) but doing it for ourselves. By doing it for YOU, it will allow your life to be free from all those never naysayers pinning you to the mat.

If you have those “never” lists, life isn’t a challenge to explore. It becomes a desperate attempt to conquer anything frantically that isn’t a never in the first place. Who says you will NEVER________. Forget it! If you say it, you will believe it. Don’t believe it or even what others are saying. Believe that you can and you will. Some goals may seem highly unattainable but it’s o.k. to keep dreaming…

When I have done some things in my life, it was me evolving and not necessarily proving someone wrong. Warrior was the same way and he wants his legion of fans to be also. It will fuel your fire to prove others wrong but always do it for YOU. I can’t say that enough. It’s like changing the word CAN’T into CAN or WON’T into will. Get rid of Never! It serves no purpose at all. Don’t use it for yourself and watch how you say words to others always.

*** I have something Extremely personal with my life that was brought into my awareness but NEVER thought it would be part of me. I laugh at it just a little but realize it’s importance and significance. It was something I kinda fought it most of the time but as it turns out, a real life changer that will forever impact and influence me. No, I’m not talking about these writings perse but just a simple word that encompasses me. It’s also not the word warrior for all you guessers… πŸ˜‰ Such an interesting turn of life events as I frequently said how I’d NEVER want this.., Did have to do some research too! Now, I treasure it like nothing else, always have and always will… πŸ’–***

So, warriors– never say never. Once you do, you’re setting yourself up for a loss and sometimes life will bite you in the A_ _! Take all those never statements and erase them from your mind. Even if someone issues you a never, fight like that warrior and clothesline it down! That never becomes a maybe and then perhaps even a YES! “Never will I” becomes “Always will I.” Just like I always believe and NEVER won’t!

P.S. I thought to use that photo of Warrior and Vince in the book “A Life Lived Forever” from RAW 4/7/14. People did caption that with “Never Say Never.” It’s way too personal for me since my brother had sent that to me right before Warrior past…. So, um– no… It is a great photo though!πŸ’™

P.P.S. PLEASE stay healthy warriors during this global virus…. WASH THOSE HANDS!!! πŸš°πŸ˜·πŸ‘ŠπŸ»

The Silver Feathers

Are you aware of #ThrowbackThursday? Well, I’m gonna switch that today to #ThrowbackWednesday because I can! My reason is this story to share that relates to three others very similar. Those were about a candle lantern, a real sign, and a feather box. All have been blogged but the candle lantern story is told in my book Spirit and Belief. Those items were bought in actual stores but that feather necklace you see on the right was bought in the Amazon store.

The Ultimate Warrior had a feather earring somewhat similar to mine but is that why I bought it? OF COURSE NOT! Several months ago, I wanted some new jewelry that reflected my spiritual life now. Sometimes it’s just bad karma I guess since most of my stuff breaks! I just blogged about karma on my other site a few days ago… I love all my jewelry and wear most frequently so probably shouldn’t anymore.

Handmade pieces are the best because of the personal craftsmanship and time involved. Many spiritual shops or fairs will sell jewelry made of crystals or delicate gems. It’s so hard to decide. I had three crystal bracelets and all fell apart! Ugh.. I still display them but decided to move onto necklaces. A few I do have use these cord ties which come loose. What’s a girl to do? Buying in person is usually my thing but Amazon seemed the way to go. My pink quartz heart necklace with the Tree of Life always gets compliments but I wanted another. Feathers popped in my head and how perfect for this journey! Check out previous posts on feathers or in my book and you’ll know why. πŸ˜‰

This silver one caught my eye which made me look no further. Yay for stronger chains and these new necklaces are working out well. Little did I know or even remember Warrior sporting an earring or two back then. I seemed to recall a stud but a feather was too far to go back in the ‘ol noggin. The Ultimate Collection DVD is now almost 6 years old and never did I notice until recently. I actually used that image in “Longevity’s Long Life” if you look suuuper closely. He did have his mask as part of it but it wasn’t until a YouTube video made me notice more. I just laughed yet again at such a silly similarity! πŸ˜‚ After all, he did send me my first feather since I always believe. Here’s the 1st video you see above:

Have you ever noticed something for the first time warriors when it’s really been there all the time? For me, it seems to be a constant that doesn’t end- even years later. Items can serve you well even if you aren’t aware at the time. It all connects to synchronicity and your life. I’ve also mentioned my past with old VHS wrestling tapes. I would never notice something for years and then see it for the first time after owning it a while. For many of you it’s a little different as am sure it is! It can be anything but I’m talking about a personal connection that means something. Not just a new outfit or haircut. We’ve all watched our favorite shows or movies over and over again. Did you notice a scene or reaction of someone in a different way? I bet you have..

Maybe someone has done something anonymously for you without your knowledge over time? You can be like me with getting signs. Do you see something many times over again that seems significant but you shrug it off? Pay attention since those signs do mean a connector to you in some way. It doesn’t have to be feathers at all. I actually see the word warrior in just about every book I read-for real! Sometimes, it doesn’t even seem to fit at all. Now, I know better since without me knowing then, it IS the right book at the time.

Here’s a quick example: We recently got rid of our old bedroom carpet and now have this beautiful new gray wood flooring with a big area rug. What if this were you but felt intimidated taking on a massive project? Over the course of a few days, you hear the song: “Magic Carpet Ride” on the radio, a store is having a huge blow-out sale on flooring, and a friend mentions this new tapestry she just bought. That’s how it works warriors. Mine was kinda like that with the silver feathers. Broken bracelets, wanting something spiritual, finding the DVD image, and the YouTube video. So many stories have lined up that way with me on this ride with Warrior and it is truly ultimate!

Try to look at something in a different way for the first time. Really observe and you might notice a new perspective. It can be silly or extremely personal. Either way, your noticing matters and connects to YOU. I love my silver feather as a I know Warrior approves! πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’™

P.S. I do have a “Warrior” totem engraved on a necklace. I didn’t even know that when first picking it up at a fair years ago. It’s similar to the “Warrior” crystals I have too. The string on the necklace broke but luckily I had an extra chain (: I’m wearing that necklace in the post “Speak Your Truth Warriors” blogged 10/17/18.

My OWN Wrestling Stories…

I always have wrestling stories warriors BUT these few are a little more personal to me. Just when I thought getting surprised by people wouldn’t faze me anymore, lo and behold– they do. My Dad is the subject for a bit today. Don’t think I’ve mentioned him much besides when he first introduced the WWF to our house in the early ’80’s. These stories had me smiling like I won a belt without even fully trying.

Several summers ago I invited my Dad to bring his dog over after dinner which he still does. He has this greyhound that loves running around the yard with our mutt. The kids were chasing the dogs and Dad and I sat on the patio. Randomly, he said how something of interest to me was in the paper a few days prior. My “wrestler friend’s” birthday was listed and he wanted to share that with me. Of course I know when Warrior’s birthday is but how sweet of him to say as I got a little nostalgic and teary. πŸ’”

Another time with Dad was last year at one of my daughter’s band concerts. He sat next to me and is quite the talker. Again, randomly mentions how he and his Dad (whom I never knew) went to a pro wrestling match many years ago when he was growing up in Michigan. WHAAT? Why am I just hearing this now and why at a concert? I don’t remember who they saw but never really thought he liked it much at all. It was just something he turned on the T.V. for us kids to watch. OMG…😳

Next, he discussed the days of Angelo Poffo (aka– Randy Savage’s Dad.) Where is this coming from? I was listening so intently while silently giggling during this concert. Again, he has a hard time being silent and despite my flute player, I just had to listen to him. He ended the conversation by saying how relieved he was to hear about Roman Reigns being in remission with leukemia. So great that you care Dad. πŸ’™ He rarely talked much about our ‘ol WWF performers back then but times do change and I am grateful for our talks. ***A side note– my Grandpa (whom I never knew) passed of a fatal heart attack in his early fifties similar to someone else…

Pro Wrestling really is part of my family in a way as I have realized many connectors. When this blog started, one story I mentioned contained a P.S. with my Great-Grandma following Gorgeous George. My Mom had told me this as his “demeanor” was quite similar to Randy Savage. They even used the same music! She followed Gorgeous George and my husband followed Andre the Giant. Sorta… You read that right. He’s my next topic.

This was another shocker that had me awed. Some may know how my husband wrestled in high school so the pros– well, it’s just fake to him and that’s it. We were eating dinner in a restaurant a few months ago during the football playoffs. Besides football being on, one T.V. was showing “real” wrestling. Huh? Who turns that on? No offense to anyone but that isn’t typical in a bar scene. We were taking and he proceeds to tell me how he DID watch Andre a few times back in the day. Once again, why do I not know this? Am sure Warrior would be laughing.. πŸ˜† I ran with this and went on and on about real injuries, entertainment, and such. I also said how I owned some movies as he might be aware if ever he wanted to watch??? A door had opened a little and I SLAMMED it open more. I probably overwhelmed him but first the “Fighting with My Family” movie and now this. Just WOW on my end.

The last family wrestling story is that of the “real” stuff on the bar T.V. My cousin was married to a guy that coached for years while also raising their two boys in the sport. One excelled better than the other but they surprised me. The one that excelled is NOT raising his three boys to be wrestlers but the other is. He also has coached them and all three of HIS boys are wrestlers. How ironic is that? I remember those two Dads as boys wrestling and now it becomes generational to one. Their Dad is beaming in Heaven… πŸ™πŸ» BTW– their Dad shared Warrior’s birthday year…

My cousin (their mother) and I just recently last summer connected spiritually . She was a young widow like Dana but remarried many years ago. No idea that she bought my book and has had spiritual gifts her whole life! Her middle son and daughter do also. Another surprising Wow moment as we have had many conversations. I feel so honored knowing our blood shares this beautiful gift of knowing the afterlife more. Neither of us knew of the other’s situation and I never would’ve guessed the many family stories she shared with me.

My wrestling stories may not be exactly like yours but we need to share to learn. You never know what WOW moments could be behind that wrestling “curtain.” Wrestling really is part of my family history and I OWN it always! πŸ€Όβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ🏻

Who’s Your #GOAT? πŸ˜¬πŸ€”

I’m not talking about a real goat here so please stay with me! 🐐 So, warriors what does an actual goat have to do with this week’s post? I thought about that for a bit and realized how hilarious it would be to use a REAL goat instead of my original idea. Am sure you’ve all heard this expression by now of #GOAT. If you haven’t, it stands for the“Greatest of All Time.” Some athletes have even uttered (or should I say uddered!) πŸ˜‰it about themselves or use with their twitter handle. My original idea involving pro-wrestlers was to list so many names- mostly from my generation on a huge piece of paper. I still will make that list in this post but an actual pic of a goat made me laugh! It’s great to have humor…

The Greatest of All Time is such a huge concept to even consider. We only seem to mention this with sports for some reasons. If it does apply to other interests, let me know! Do we say we’re the greatest parent of all time? No, because none of us parents are. How about other professions like teaching? I never said that about myself and never will. Does anyone say they’re the greatest driver of all time? Cook? Dancer? How about writer? ( wink, wink!) ~~ Sub any words of your choice. Maybe some use that expression but most don’t. Why is it just for athletes? Even movie stars or other famous people don’t refer to #GOAT.

After the horrific helicopter crash ending the life of Kobe Bryant, his daughter, and several othersπŸ’”, my son had a conversation with me and his Dad. He was deeply affected by this tragedy. Of course, Kobe and his very exceptional life achievements were all over the news. My son asked if Kobe would be considered a #GOAT. So interesting to answer considering his remarkable career. My answer to him was that I believe it to be generational. I know this is how it comes across with other sports and not just basketball. πŸ€

There is so much to factor in with the equation of being a #GOAT. Sure, some use it as an ego boost and in many ways, that does help. Some use it too much in an unhealthy way where humility is forgotten. Kobe Bryant had tremendous respect for others in his sport before him that set such precedents. For his generation, yes he would be a #GOAT but overall, no. I bet he’d agree. You might not and that’s fine. I mean absolutely no disrespect to him at all.

Just because someone is your favorite athlete, would that make them a #GOAT? Nope, that’s just your opinion and you can have one. For women, it is a little different considering they haven’t participated in professional sports as long as men so the generation gap will be closer together. It’s similar to someone getting inducted into a Hall of Fame. Popularity isn’t the only factor. It’s quite an arduous process. Maybe some of you think I’d be extremely biased and choose the Ultimate Warrior as a #GOAT. I would not. There are those that will agree but there are those that won’t. Lots factor in. Warrior didn’t even truly want a title belt much so being a #GOAT would not be part of his mindset. Realistically, it shouldn’t even be a hashtag or part of social media at all. It certainly does spark conversations though that never seem to end.

Brother Love of WWE fame is quoted as saying at the time of the steel cage match between “Macho King” Randy Savage and the Ultimate Warrior that the Macho King is “the Greatest World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion of all time past, present, and future.” That was in 1991. I know Randy and Warrior were close but is Randy a #GOAT? BTW– that steel cage match is mentioned in my book Spirit and Belief as “Me Next!”

Hulk Hogan started a whole new generation of entertainment with his All-American look which skyrocketed to mainstream culture. Is he a #GOAT? Well, Mean Gene Okerlund stated that before Hulk’s WMVI interview. Some could say definitely yes but again generations play a significant role. One cannot even compare yesteryear’s “technical” wrestlers to today’s “entertaining” performers. The #GOAT’s will always be there and we all have a say.

Well, here’s my list I mentioned from the beginning so keep in mind many others. Again, my generation as you will all have yours…

*** Possible #GOAT’s? ( am not listing Tag Teams or women)

* Hulk Hogan, *”Macho Man” Randy Savage, πŸ’™Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant, Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Honky Tonk Man, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, *Undertaker, *Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Sting, Shawn Michaels, Ravishing” Rick Rude, “The British BulldogDavey Boy Smith ( HOF this year!) “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson, and John Cena.

*** I tried to list a few more than just the 80’s! You can add others as I trimmed this list! ~~Notice how I * the Undertaker for those who have heard my stories! U.W. gets a πŸ’™not an *. Also, you can’t compare Hulk’s generation to that of John Cena’s.

P.S. Whoever your #GOAT is, I’m kinda fond of the REAL goat up above. They’ve always been my favorite on a farm or petting zoo! They’re so animated and entertainers “of All Time!”

~~~ Personally, Warrior will always be my #GOAT for many reasons. πŸ’™πŸ˜‰πŸ™πŸ»
Family Business Banter
Do any of you come from a family business or feel the need to pursue your passions based on those before you? Kerry Von Erich came from a wrestling family as did many others. Am sure avid fans know of the Poffo’s,(Randy Savage, his Dad, and brother) the Hart’s, Neidhart’s, Flair’s, and of course the McMahon’s. I could list so many more and they continue today. What if you didn’t come from a wrestling background like Warrior? It doesn’t mean you won’t succeed. I actually do come from some writers in my family but never felt pressured to be one.
I bet there are even some whose families pressure you into succeeding in an area they didn’t. Maybe it was a profession they once tried and failed at so now they see an opportunity in your life. They might live their dream through you but is it what YOU want? Some families even have names as part of a “tradition” but when your first is born, you are against it! Yep, that was me. I wasn’t dishonoring but not conforming and there is a difference. Even England’s Royal Family has their share of banter with the recent news of Harry and Meghan. It does affect us all.
I am reminded also of singer Shania Twain. She has always been one of my favorites and I read her autobiography years ago. Being Canadian, she was ostracized for wanting to record country music. That didn’t stop her. She didn’t have much family banter but business banter and that’s an issue too. Stephanie McMahon had to work her way up in the WWE without just having her last name as a bonus. She has mentioned this several times in various interviews. Her Dad made her work just as hard as anyone else and she has proved it without family business banter. Let’s not forget Shane as well!
Sure, if you are looking for success in a family business, it does help if something can be passed along. They can teach you the “ropes” and train since they’ve been there before. Will they disown you if stepping away is your choice? Maybe you’ll care, maybe you won’t. It is different if you love the job like them and embrace it. I mentioned Paige in the WWE a few weeks ago. She also came from a wrestling family but it was her dream to compete and make it in the business. That she did. Now, Simone Johnson is continuing with becoming a 4th generational wrestler. Am sure this is her choice without pressure from her Dad Dwayne–aka “The Rock.”
Pressure is everywhere and comes at us full speed sometimes like a rocket ship. You can apply this to other areas of your life like belief systems. Being raised a certain way doesn’t mean you need to adhere as a adult. Your families emotions are on them, not you. We do need to deal with fallouts but also have respect on both sides. Change is difficult to accept but necessary in life.
Some of us may even do better without a big family influence. We are self-learners but do still need help from others — albeit a few. That was Warrior’s life in pro wrestling. Many others fell into this category too but I often wondered if they felt isolated for that. Again, there are always pros and cons to every side. Some might’ve got distanced for not coming from a wrestling dynasty or legacy. That attitude only made Warrior want success even more. His younger daughter may follow in her Dad’s “boots” one day with Warrior’s Ultimate Spirit guiding along the way. Warrior believed too much in being an individual to ever pressure his daughter to become a wrestler. That choice is hers to make despite his passing.
We do share what we know but should do so without expectation. Warrior showed his daughters “moves” over the years because it was still part of him. I sang preschool songs and did crafts with my kids for years since it was still part of me. We know our strengths and share them but how one interprets it is their feeling. It is tough as a parent to see a strength in your child you so want them to pursue. Encourage– yes. Force–no. They need to figure out their life with parental guidance and not pressure.
We all just want to be happy and if you’re not, then get out of the business. This statement is partially credited to Andre the Giant and it is so true. Our success might not equate what family banter dictates but we still need to be ourselves fully. The pressure shouldn’t get too much where we feel discouraged. Don’t ever let that happen warriors as there should always be another solution. Family Business Banter may not affect us all but if it does, be true to you while always showing respect. You can succeed and WILL even without a family legacy.
*** P.S. Kerry Von Erich and the Ultimate Warrior came full circle after working together early on in the WCCW and then later in the WWE. I missed that P.S. of a few weeks ago! πŸ’™πŸ’™
